Top 5 reasons why I think this is a good idea:

1. Everyone is equal and on the same playing field.
2. Casuals and PVErs actually get to experience arena with adequate gear.
3. Blizzard gains a boatload of casual subscriptions. PvP community gains more competition.
4. PvE gear is no longer a factor in Arena.
5. Gear does not determine the outcome of matches. Player skill does.

Modern Warfare 2 is a bit over a week old now and it has been a resounding success for Activision and Infinity Ward both on the sales front and with the critics as well.  For some fans it is a mixed bag, largely due the "consolization" of the PC version, but for most the game is a hit.  My review is finished and I'll be sure to toss it up for your critical consumption tomorrow some time.
