Blizzard Working on two Expansions one rumored " Emerald Dream "

This info comes straight from the mouth of three GM’s, so while I have no “official” statement from a Blizzard rep (I don’t have any sources inside Blizzard, just a few GM’s that work for them, looking after WoW and battle.net) it should still be considered solid information as all three have seen multiple new areas and are just part of a “plethora” of testers that Blizzard has in these new zones.

The first of these expansions has something to do with the Emerald Dream, as there are currently seven “rather large” zones that are related to the Emerald Dream. These are already “fairly fleshed out” with plenty of quest NPC’s and content. The zones themselves are a lot “greener” than anything previously found in WoW, with many “giant” flowers, trees and lakes. My sources said “think Zangarmarsh, but greener, and with much more foliage. The giant mushrooms are replaced with giant flowers, fields of green, and plenty of foliage.” The creatures in these zones are mostly "animal like" at the moment.

Next up there are a few zones that are in “very early” stages of development. The strange part is that they are in no way connected to either the Emerald Dream or the content that Blizzard is working on for the Lich King expansion. These zones are more “Waterworld themed” (Waterworld is an older movie starring Kevin Costner. Look it up.)

There is a zone that contains a “barely floating city, surrounded by a huge body of water”; there are quite a few more “graphics for ships, with big galleons here and there”; and finally there is a new “giant sea creature”. However nothing in these zones is scripted and they are just walked around in for the moment. The sea creature can already be spawned; then again it can be spawned in any zone as long as the command is known, even in good old Azeroth. There are also a few more “Waterworld” based zones out there, but they are not yet populated or finished.

My sources believe that Blizzard is working on the next two expansion packs to the game. One themed on the Emerald Dream, and the other on what looks like “Waterworld”. I have no release dates, however the three commented on how they “have to be done with a few zones by July 2009”. Which puts one expansion pack on track for late 2009, early 2010.

I have no other knowledge on what else comes with the expansion, but one can assume that we will get a higher level cap and more skills.

Deaths of gamers leave their online lives in limbo

When Jerald Spangenberg collapsed and died in the middle of a quest in an online game, his daughter embarked on a quest of her own: to let her father's gaming friends know that he hadn't just decided to desert them. It wasn't easy, because she didn't have her father's "World of Warcraft" password and the game's publisher couldn't help her. Eventually, Melissa Allen Spangenberg reached her father's friends by asking around online for the "guild" he belonged to.

One of them, Chuck Pagoria in Morgantown, Ky., heard about Spangenberg's death three weeks later. Pagoria had put his absence down to an argument among the gamers that night. "I figured he probably just needed some time to cool off," Pagoria said. "I was kind of extremely shocked and blown away when I heard the reason that he hadn't been back. Nobody had any way of finding this out." With online social networks becoming ever more important in our lives, they're also becoming an important element in our deaths.

Spangenberg, who died suddenly from an abdominal aneurysm at 57, was unprepared, but others are leaving detailed instructions. There's even a tiny industry that has sprung up to help people wrap up their online contacts after their deaths. When Robert Bryant's father died last year, he left his son a little black USB flash drive in a drawer in his home office in Lawton, Okla. It was underneath a cup his son had once given him for his birthday. The drive contained a list of contacts for his son to notify, including the administrator of an online group he had been in. "It was kind of creepy because I was telling all these people that my dad was dead," Bryant said. "It did help me out quite a bit, though, because it allowed me to clear up a lot of that stuff and I had time to help my mom with whatever she needed."

David Eagleman, a neuroscientist at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, has had plenty of time to think about the issue. "I work in the world's largest medical center, and what you see here every day is people showing up in ambulances who didn't expect that just five minutes earlier," he said. "If you suddenly die or go into a coma, there can be a lot of things that are only in your head in terms of where things are stored, where your passwords are." He set up a site called Deathswitch, where people can set up e-mails that will be sent out automatically if they don't check in at intervals they specify, like once a week. For $20 per year, members can create up to 30 e-mails with attachments like video files. It's not really a profit-making venture, and Eagleman isn't sure about how many members it has — "probably close to a thousand." Nor does he know what's in the e-mails that have been created. Until they're sent out, they're encrypted so that only their creators can read them. If Deathswitch sounds morbid, there's an alternative site: Slightly Morbid. It also sends e-mail when a member dies, but doesn't rely on them logging in periodically while they're alive. Instead, members have to give trusted friends or family the information needed to log in to the site and start the notification process if something should happen.

The site was created by Mike and Pamela Potter in Colorado Springs, Colo. They also run a business that makes software for online games. Pamela said they realized the need for a service like this when one of their online friends, who had volunteered a lot of time helping their customers on a Web message board, suddenly disappeared. He wasn't dead: Three months later, he came back from his summer vacation, which he'd spent without Internet access. By then, the Potters had already had Slightlymorbid.com up and running for two weeks. A third site with a similar concept plans to launch in April. Legacy Locker will charge $30 per year. It will require a copy of a death certificate before releasing information. Peter Vogel, in Tampa, Fla., was never able to reach all of his stepson Nathan's online friends after the boy died last year at age 13 during an epileptic seizure. A few years earlier, someone had hacked into one of the boy's accounts, so Vogel, a computer administrator, taught Nathan to choose passwords that couldn't be easily guessed. He also taught the boy not to write passwords down, so Nathan left no trail to follow. Vogel himself has a trusted friend who knows all his important login information.

As he points out, having access to a person's e-mail account is the most important thing, because many Web site passwords can be retrieved through e-mail. Vogel joked that he hoped the only reason his friend would be called on to use his access within "the next hundred years or so" would be if Vogel forgets his own passwords. But, he said, "as Nathan has proven, anything can happen any time, even if you're only 13."

ref: http://tech.yahoo.com/news/ap/20090314/ap_on_hi_te/tec_death_online

Just one of the many faces of US Tichondrius

Today I want to tell you of a very funny person who attended a raid I was in just the other night. His name is ShaunConnery. Hes a warrior on the alliance side with a very talented gift. See not only the witty connery loves playing the great WoW we love so much but he loves to do it in character, a true role player you could call him. He talks just like the great Sean Connery himself but with funny remarks and jokes that really lighten the boring grind of raiding. I bring you 30 mins of pure bliss comedy by the one and only ShaunConnery.

http://files.filefront.com/Shaun+Connery+Naxxramasnmp3/;13427504;/fileinfo.html

If only we had more people who made this game more enjoyable.

Its a ventrilo recording of the Naxx raid I was in. No its not a key logger or anything harmful just a MP3 file. When you start to listen take in the fact of how he sounds and the remarks he makes toward a really bad player who keeps dieing and ******* up.

Blizzard has a Heart after all. *heart*

So there is heart in the blizzard company. This one goes out to whoever you are mr account admin that decided after 4 years of my account being closed to REINSTATE it after countless emails letting them know I have been an active Subscriber and still love there game.

Some years ago I started out like everyone else, I was newb I came from CS where you talk **** all day to each other. Joining an MMO was totally new thing to me you had to watch what you say because people will report you for anything and it adds up on your account. Well it did add up, and my Warrior Moretti who was on Malygos US PvE server was perma banned. He had good gear and man I tell you I loved that character and when it got banned I felt like I had lost a friend. Now many of you can relate, we spend so many hours achieveing these goals and spend all this hard work, can you imagine just having it taken from you in a blink of an eye?

Well that was me some four years ago a total newb, a douchebag who talked **** and didnt care what people thought. After losing my account I sat back and reflected on how I had acted. Starting over was painful but I moved on moving away from the slowness of a PvE server. I wanted to start over somewhere fresh and a PvP server was just the right move it made me find my Love for the game all over again. It was just as blissful as the first time around, but nothing could fill that feeling of the FIRST time I took down Ragnaros, or the FIRST time I wiped the whole 40 man guild on BWL Valstras.

I still thought about my old character and wanted it back still missed seeing all the things I had achieved on it, and to find this email in my inbox was just something words cant describe. Now you guys might call me a nerd or just stupid or whatever but it ment the world to me it really did.

Greetings,

Thank you for contacting Account Administration.
What music do you listen to while playing WoW?

I find myself listening to more Trance / Vocal trance than anything while playing WoW. A good friend of mine showed me a awesome site to stream high quality trance, and after a few months I finally decided to sign up for their premium membership. Can honestly say I haven't been dissapointed yet. With such artist as Armin van burren's weekly " A state of Trance " show and Markus Schultz's weekly " Progression " show its been none stop of great tunes. I highly suggest heading over to www.di.fm for all you trance / vocal trance lovers.

Right now I'm currently listening to Ferry Corsten's new album " Twice in a blue moon " I can't get enough of this album.

So I would like to know what you guys listen to while playing WoW.

How would you fix Arena?

Friend of mine recently did an interview with me and a few people here on Ticondrious to be featured on Gravitas Gaming concerning their views on arena PvP check it out.

Author: Sadlol Knoc Cascaids

The World of Warcraft community has a lot to look forward to in the near future. The game's second expansion, 'The Wrath of the Lich King' will debut in just under two weeks. We had a chance to talk with a few 2200+ rated players about what they would change in arena, and what they are looking forward to in WOTLK.

1. If you could change anything about arena, aside from direct balance issues, what would it be?

SK|Chumpjohn: To improve the competitive pvp system, I would suggest something such as lowering the global cool down to ~0.5 seconds. I believe any esport should reflect a similar level of skill to old school CS 1.6, and right now WoW is not there.

Brandon: I wish blizzard would balance classes on a 1on1 basis. I feel it would create less counter-comping which would result in fair arenas.

GG|Celex: I think blizzard should remove the new arenas. As I have said before, the new arenas with dynamic obstacles are a huge issue and no where should they be implemented in arena. I think they are on the correct track with new arenas, but I think they should take out the moving obstacles and random damage.

Terreo: I think arenas should restrict or reduce the benefits of wearing pve gear. The advantage pve gear gives to certain classes is way over the top and should be changed.

Moretti: I think LoS issues should be less of a factor. I am not saying remove all LoS, but it needs to be changed from what it is now.

Mortale: They should add an option that allows teams to start an arena match early when they are prepared and are both ready. If it would be possible to add an instant buffer at the start of an arena, that would also drastically improve the wait time.

Xpoze: I would remove all the 51 point talents and give every one 10 extra talent points. They were getting close to balanced, but they should just work with the talents they already have otherwise it would be imbalanced.

Stormbornz: One thing I don't like is when they try to make every spec viable for arena pvp. I think only one or two specs should be arena viable, and would make the game easier to balance.

Killars: They should make it so you either can not use pve gear in arena, or have added bonuses for wearing pvp gear. For example, gloves could add a deadly throw interrupt, pants could add +10 energy, and boots -10 energy to kick. This would make pvp gear worth wearing.

Tensai: Certain classes are pigeon holed into playing certain comps. For example, Enhancement shamans are forced into playing cleave comps. I would make it so player skill is more important in arena than class comps.

2. What are you looking forward to most in WOTLK?

SK|Chumpjohn: In WotLK, the main thing I am looking forward to is the return of at least a semi-competitive arena ladder. As Glick put it, playing arena on live lately is like, "being a giant squashing ants"

Brandon: The addition of new skills and talents creates a new learning environment in WoW. I always find the relearning process to be the best part of the game.

Viruvius: I am looking forward to a change of pace. Arena has been roughly the same for the past 3 seasons. I think the fact that we are getting new spells, new talents, a brand new class, and many changes to each class will bring the fun back to the game.

Stormbornz: I am looking forward to having spirit on my priest's pvp gear since I've had zero throughout all 4 seasons.

Killars: I'm looking forward to more classes being capable of the same things, making the game more reliant on skill, rather than the actual class and what buffs they have to offer.

Bluelle: I am looking forward to the new content. After leveling 7 toons to 70, the repetition is getting old.

Coldflesh: I am looking forward to playing mutilate with prep. Daggers making their return in wotlk is something I've had my hopes on for a while. It will be nice when Rogues can play any spec and still be competitive.

Sadlol: After hearing these responses I figured I might as well give my opinion as to which additions I think would be an improvement for arena and some I don't agree with. I strongly agree with some of the respones about PvE gear. When certain classes wear PvE gear, they have the ability to do damage or healing which is far beyond what anybody in PvP gear can expect to do. "As Killars stated, PvP gear should be the favorite in PvP situations. "Having an advantage in arena, simply because somebody has spent a ridiculous amount of time in PvE instances, does not correlate with how well they should perform in arena. Having PvE gear doesn't autoamtically make you good at arena, however it does give people unfair advantages, something which should try to be avoided."

Another suggestion I heard was to allow the option to start the game earlier if both teams agree. I believe Mortale was suggesting an option in the Arena tab below 'leave arena' that would make the game start before the 1 minute duration if both teams agreed. I think this would be an amazing new change, because I can not remember a 2v2 or 3v3 arena match where I was either fully buffed in less then 30 seconds, or too busy alt tabbing while everybody waited an extra 30 seconds.

A couple suggestions I do not agree with are Brandon's and Xpose's. First off Brandon's idea of balancing on a 1v1 basis does not balance the game. The whole point of 2v2, 3v3, and 5v5 arena is to work off each other. Certain combos have better synergies then others, which is not a balance issue, it is a class issue. For example, Warlocks for the most part counter mages. If they made warlock vs mage balanced against each other, this does not change the fact that the warlock and mage are still 2 totally different classes. When you put a mage and rogue together on 1 target, the burst damage is off the charts. When you put a Warlock and druid together, the CC and outlast capabilities is often too much for other classes.

Since there are many contributing factors in a single arena match, I do not think balancing characters on a 1on1 basis would be the best possible solution. I also don't agree with Xpose's suggestion. Taking away the 51 point talents, and adding 10 more usable talent points, I think is the exact opposite of helping. If you want to take away the 51 points talents until they are balanced go for it, but if you add even more additional points its basically countering your whole change. This suggestion sounds like it would come from the blizzard dev team, because only they would take away something that is not balanced, and then add even more things that are just as bad if not worse.

ref: http://www.gravitasgaming.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=261&Itemid=65
