Sup Gameriot. Giggers here, and this is the live Blog from betterthanyou's WotLK launch party. Here's a rundown of what happened, and when:

5:00 - I got to Betterthanyou's house and set up my PC. I was the first one there, and he was busy playing Fallout 3.

7:00 - DJ got here, and told me he needed a new power supply for his PC. God dammit. I took him and betterthanyou to my house to get him a new power supply, and then we picked up some Mountain Dew.

9:00 - We got back from shopping and found Ralph, Frank and Kumar in Betterthanyou's driveway. Cool.

9:30 - We got some Pizza from a local pizza shop; which happened to be by the Gamestop. We're currently hanging out here with some fellow WoWers, and those bastards still haven't opened the door.

10:24 - Right now, waiting out in the cold. The "Launch Party" was supposed to start at 10:00, and the employees are behind locked doors playing PS3 games or something. I don't know. We're thinking of something rebelious. Maybe smashing down the doors, I don't know. Don't **** with raiders.

Update 12:56 AM - Awesome. Got my copy of Wrath, along with Ralph. Frank and Kumar left a while ago. However, I was the first one to by at betterthanyou's house with it. Installing at the moment; 75%

Betterthanyou Hosts Another Party!

Hello, Hello, Gameriot! With WotLK next week, betterthanyou is hosting a Wrath of the Lich King Launch Party at his house, and ALL of Gameriot is invited. Some of us will be getting our copies at 12:00am on Thursday, but all of you are free to purchase your copy whenever you wish.

The launch party will begin Wednesday, at 6:00pm. The address is:

We'll have pizza, soda, places to set up your computer, and of course, copies of Wrath of the Lich King. Again, everyone from Gameriot is invited, and your attendance is much appreciated.

Why has gameriot become so sucky lately? It's actually very simple.Â I blame one man for this.

Ming.

Ming, who even Jasi admits, is the biggest troll on Gameriot (if you don't see this, you're an idiot) and this, coupled with several other factors, hasn't benefited the site at all.

As Vir has proven time and again, making **** posts with no content but either a sensitive issue, or a "hot topic" gets you the hits.Â This is pretty obvious, and coupled with a great Digg feature, can easily get you the win.Â But, is this best for the site?Â

I don't believe articles like the "5 top Diablo clones" are terrible at all.Â These articles are fine, and they might even get GR a few members.Â Though, articles by people like Vir, while they might be fun to read, aren't going to get people to sign up on GR, or make it a site they visit regularly.Â These posts hold very little entertainment value, and are usually transparent enough that you think, "why the **** am i reading this ****" several times when reading.Â Other posts by people like Giggers and such might suck, though they aren't commented on, or very popular so no one cares.

I would like to see some original content, such as some well done interviews (I don't like reading neilyos **** typing) and some content that is worth paying the poster for.Â Drama is nice (lol thanks serennia for that jasi comment) though it doesn't "fill" my take on gaming.Â While there are some that try to post interesting reviews, etc.. they aren't as frequent as the **** posts.

To GR staff: find some good bloggers to pay, who are actually going to write reviews, interviews, and write some guides.Â Ming is ****, and you know it.Â His popularity alone won't keep bringing the people in.

To GR readers: go and post some reviews! Find something interesting to blog about, and for ***** sake, don't support the **** posting! Thanks.

Live Blogging From Betterthanyou's LAN Party

Hey everyone, Giggers here! As betterthanyou posted before, I'm here from betterthanyou's house at our Summer's End LAN Party! Be prepared for a day, night, and another day of live blogging from betterthanyou's house!

Here's what we have planned for tonight:

Now, here's a rundown of what has happend so far...

Yesterday I stayed at xut's house for the night to prepare for the LAN party. Afterwards, we headed over to betterthanyou's house. When we got there, we found betterthanyou in his room with another friend, starting up his computer. His hair was wet, and he was wearing a surprisingly fashionable shirt. We then started getting ready.

First things first: Mountain Dew. Yes, the nectar of gods. We headed to a nerby Walmart to pick up some cases, and the highly expected happened. As we were looking in the soda aisle, betterthanyou got hit on by not one, not two, but three chicks. God damn this kid is a baller. Betterthanyou and the girls exchanged numbers, and we went on our way.

After finding no Mountain Dew at Walmart, we went to A&P and picked up six cases. We may go back later for more. Regardless, when we returned to betterthanyou's house, more of our friends were waiting for us. We started setting up computers, and that is where we are now.

Well, things have been kicking off quite nicely. Upstairs is me, betterthanyou, and our friend Macauley's computer. Downstairs is Super Smash Bros Melee and xut's computer.

I've been playing Scarlet Weather Rhapsody with Duane and Macauley, and betterthanyou, Ralph, and Frank have been playing SSBM downstairs. It's still very early into the party, so there's no telling what more will happen. It's been fun, and we're still waiting on one or two more people to show up. More updates coming.

Hey everyone, another update here! I've been messing around with Duane's XBox controllers, which we've been playing Scarlet Weather Rhapsody with, and got them to work with Maple Story. Pretty neat, but it isn't LAN party material. Now, onto the big news.

Remember those girls that betterthanyou got hit on by at Walmart? Well, apparently they're coming to the LAN party. Don't ask how it happened, but one of our members talked to them. I'll be sure to update immediately if they come, and provide pictures. This will truly be an epic night.

In other news, I believe we ordered the Pizza, because betterthanyou came around looking for money. Also, the supply of Mountain Dew is holding up rather well. At the moment, Duane and Macauley are watching a Touhou video, and more SSBM is going on downstairs. Here's a link.

Giggers here with another update. Things have been trucking along okay. I went home to get my cell phone charger and took betterthanyou with me. We cruised around while listening to Dragonforce at insane volume. When we got back, Ralph and Frank were gone. Hm.

There's been a lot of Audiosurf going on here. If you don't know, Audiosurf is a game that takes your own music and creates a track for you to 'ride' it. It's pretty cool, and gives a nice challenge with the crazier songs out there.

I almost killed myself a little while ago. I decided it would be cool to try and chug Mountain Dew. Lemme tell you, I felt ******* horrible. My insides felt like they were about to rip apart, and I spent a good 10 minutes in the bathroom trying to purge my system of the stuff. I've been feeling better recently, albeit acting a little insane. It's still the 31st, and boy do we still have a lot of time left.

After I got out of the bathroom and laid down to calm my insides, Ralph and Frank returned with several more people, but I was too dizzy and it was too dark for me to see who it was.

Hey everyone. Update time. Betterthanyou and mostly everyone else have gone outside for a bit of late night man-hunt. Duane and I, however, opted to stay inside and troll various forums. We heard horns and screeching tires a little while ago, so someone may have gotten hurt. We've put it on our 'to do' list.

Anyways, I'm chilling inside right now, blogging away. It's late out, but I'm still awake, which means the Mountain Dew worked.

On a side note, nothing coordinated as actually happened. This entire thing has been the spawn of everyone winging it. Pretty cool.

Sup everyone. Betterthanyou, for no reason whatsoever, decided to go outside. To be more specific, in a lawn chair on the side of the road. Betterthanyou and the other guys thought it would be a good idea to go and greet people passing by at such a odd time.

Now, again, the completely expected happened. First off, some guy pulled up and offered us a beer, which betterthanyou politely declined. Afterwards, I told him how cool it would've been to have his picture on GameRiot holding a beer. Oh well. He called me a ****** for saying that.

Then, a car full of, get this, chicks pulled up and asked betterthanyou to go for a ride with them. This kid never stops being ******* awesome. Jesus christ.

Currently I'm blogging from outside betterthanyou's house, chilling out here in the nighttime air. It's pretty awesome. Also, betterthanyou got ahold of my webcam. I'll attach some of the pictures. Hehe.

Well, this has been a fun night, but I'm heading off to bed. That doesn't necessarily mean the fun is over though. I'll be sure to make another blog post when I wake up later.

Black Kid is passed out, Ralph and his friends have long since gone, Duane is playing Touhou, Ryan is on the verge of sleep, and Macauley is watching a trippy movie. Betterthanyou is... somewhere. Probably sleeping. Who knows.

Look at that thread.Â Apparently, the publishing company signed their final agreements with Aventurine (the company producing Darkfall).

What does this mean?Â Well, now they can actually get the game out, apparently.Â People are expecting an beta soon, but who knows.

If there is a beta, expect something glitchy as hell, but **** it, it's darkfall.

It is fairly easy to mapquest or google maps, so you shouldn't have much trouble getting here.

When is it?
This LAN party will be taking place on Saturday, August 30th starting at 8:00pm and going through the night and into Sunday, where there will be even more gaming. The LAN party will end on Sunday, August 31st at roughly 11:00pm.

What should I bring?
Well, you should bring your computer, any snacks to share, and, if you can, folding tables and chairs.

May I bring a friend?
Of course! Just be sure to tell us so we can make accomodations.

What games will there be?
You can expect Warcraft III, Starcraft, Halo CE, Counter Strike, and pretty much any games you have on your PC!

We can't wait to get started, and we hope to see some fellow GRers attending us. There will be contests, competitons, and even some cash prizes! Be sure to bring your gaming attitude.

Well hello there GameRiot. Giggers here, reporting from Detroit, Michigan.

Today I headed out with my family to see my uncle, and so began the eleven hour drive from Morris County, New Jersey all the way to Detroit. It was a long drive, filled with sleeping, poor reception TV and some cheap VCR movies.

Regardless, I'm here now, and I'm just chilling in my Uncle's house. I can't play WoW, because for some reason, starting it up kills his internet connection. The hell if I know why. Oh well.

Hey everyone, Giggers here, with live coverage from Betterthanyou's home in New Jersey. Today I'll be covering betterthanyou's basic lifestyle.

As I pulled into the driveway, I hooked up to his wireless network and got on ventrilo to see if he was there. I saw him logged in, but found no response when I asked for him. I shrugged it off and got out of the car, taking my laptop with me.

Before I even answered the door, one of betterthanyou's younger sisters answered the door and told me he was sleeping. Typical. I responded with "I'll wake him up" as I walked through his kitchen and to his staircase. I hummed a Dragonforce song as I set up my laptop in his hallway, then made my way to his room.

The fan was on, it was dark, and instead of a door, there was a bedsheet. Interesting. I went in and flashed the light on and off a few times, but to no avail. Before I moved on to my second method, the temperature of the room hit me. It was a gripping cold, one that went straight to the bone. I wondered how anyone could survive in this as I started knocking on his doorframe.

With a grunted "what the hell..." betterthanyou arose. His hair was mangled, his eyes sagged, and he had a general look of confusion. He looked like he hadn't slept in a week, and he hadn't, either. Before I could question how he could stay up that long, I saw the numerous bottles and cans of Mountain Dew strewn about the room.

"Ross, get up." I said, giving him a kick in the ribs. He fell over with a groan then sat up, slowly getting to his feet. I turned his monitor on and was greeted by the expected 4chan main page. As I took in everything I had seen, I could only think of one sentance.

"This guy is awesome."

Betterthanyou and I went to the local Quick Chek. We bought an Italian sub to eat, along with some drinks. Betterthanyou got a mountain dew, at which point i began to question his sanity.

We then went to the local park and watched the colored folk play basketball while enjoying our sandwhiches. After we had finished eating, betterthanyou left the car abruptly. I watched him walk up to one of the kids and punch him in the gut before walking back to the car calmly.

"What the hell was that for?" I asked.

"Basketball is gay." he replied, suavely. What a ******* winner. I started to notice we were getting looks, so I booked it out of there. We went back to his house (which I might add is like a fountain of awesome) and went to his living room, where we're located now.

Things are starting to get scary. At around 6:30, betterthanyou begins to change... he just starts... raging for no apparent reason. It's disturbing me, as he took out a knife and started slashing his desk in anger. All I could do was stare in shock. After he had calmed down, he simply looked at me and said

"You wanna know how I got these scars?"

I'm not quite sure what to do, but I'll cover this as much as I can. Pray for me, Gameriot.

I'm heading out, not because I have to, but because of fear. An extraordinary burst of rage sent his room into chaotic turmoil. I barely made it out intact. I don't even remember what he was raging at. It could've been Gameriot, it could've been 4chan, I don't know. All I know, however, is that his room is trashed now. It has to be the Mountain Dew...

Fortunately, it's bedtime for betterthanyou. He passed out after his ragestorm, making it a perfect opportunity for me to get out of there. This will be my last entry from his house until I come back, so I hope you enjoyed reading. I'll be looking forward to posting more live coverage of betterthanyou in his natural habitat.

Is this really what America is turning into, or is this simply the stupidity of one part of the country? I really hope It's the latter, because if this degree lack of idiocy spreads, this country is ******.

WotLK scheduled for November 5th Release

My girlfriend recently got into playing WoW, so her and I went to our local GameStop to pick her up a copy. We were talking about the game while she was buying the Battle Chest, and the cashier asked if we wanted to pre-order Wrath of the Lich King.

When I asked, "When does it come out?" he replied "November 5th."

Now, the guy next to him mentioned that since it was Blizzard, it'll probably get pushed back, so if it isn't November 5th, we can probably expect a Christmas release.

So, buckle your seat belts everyone, Wrath of the Lich King is going to hit up soon. If you planned on farming, gearing up, or any form of preparation what so ever and haven't started, you should probably get on that.

I suppose it's time for me to re-activate my WoW account.

After three heated games, Jaedong has claimed victory over FlaSh in an impressive 3-0. How?

Game One:
Blue Storm 1.1 Was an incredibly imba map for zerg. It isn't Blue Storm 1.1 anymore though, it's Blue Storm 1.2 which is pretty balanced, but ZvT is still in the Zerg's favor pretty well because of the ease of getting a third gas and doing muta harass.

Jaedong opened up standard 12 Hatch Fast Expand into 3 Hatch Muta opening. Flash did a 14 CC as he has some sort of hard-on for 14 CC. Flash Transitioned his 14CC into triple barracks while Jaedong continued to play standard. From there it's kinda blurry as flash did so bad.

It seems like Flash was trying to do a Timing Push after Mutalisks, but before Lurkers. However, Flash choked and didn't build his Engineering Bay on time for the Mutalisk harass and got raped by Muta Harass so bad. It's quite puzzling honestly as every game I've ever seen of Flash before this vs Zerg he always overbuilds turrets, but he didn't get his Engineering Bay up in time and he didn't build many turrets with it.

Because Flash 14CCed Jaedong was safe to get a faster gas, which lead to a faster lair, which lead to faster mutas which could have thrown flash off - but it was Flash's fault then just as bad. He most likely just choked though.

Flash moved out with is marines in a panic trying to see if he could kill Jaedong it seemed just before his Mutalisks hatch, but Flash couldn't and Flash's panic move out was horrible and as Jaedong's mutalisks hatched they picked off marines as they retreated back to Flash's base. At Flash's base he didn't have enough turrets, didn't have enough units because they got picked off by Jaedong because of Flash's panic move, and Jaedong just harassed him continually so badly while bring up a 3rd Base and Jaedong just walked over Flash.

Looking at the match it was so bad I mean Flash didn't put any pressure on Jaedong. His Panic Pressure was too late and he had no medics to support his marines because of his incredibly late Academy and Engineering Bay, which was so odd.

I mean Flash didn't tech to Factory -> Starport -> Science Facility until super late and his Academy and E-Bay were so late. He wasn't using his gas for anything, It's hard to really explain how horrible Flashed play that it was so bad. Jaedong just did a text book build that everyone knows how to counter and didn't even get to the part where Zerg Shines on Blue Storm and he was able to walk all over Flash because Flash was absolutely retarded.

Like I said before, I think Flash was trying to do an after Mutalisks before Lurkers push, but Jaedong never got lurkers because Flash did so bad at defending a very easy thing to defend.

Game 2:
This was pathetic again by Flash. This time both players started out with standard builds. 1 Rax into Command Center for Flash and 3 Hatch Mutas for Jaedong. However, flash didn't build his Engineering Bay again until incredibly late. BUT that wasn't the worst thing flash failed on. Jaedong built a decent amount of Lings which is easily counterable with a Bunker in your Natural, but Flash failed to build a bunker in his natural and he effectively lost control of his Natural, lost a bunch of SCVs and M&M and he had no turrets to deal with the Mutalisks again because for some reason his E-bay was late and he didn't built enough turrets.

Jaedong didn't get really too many lings either. It should have been easily countered by a Bunker in Flash's natural, but Flash choked so badly there. And then Flash choked again by having a late E-bay. It was so bad.

Take note that Othello, the Map played for the 2nd game, is considered stronger for Terran than Zerg in ZVT in opposite of Blue Storm basically.

Game 3:
Decent game from both players. My stream did in the mid-game so I didn't see the muta-harass but it seemed like Flash didn't get destroyed by it so he must have got his E-Bay up on time. Both players did standard builds (1 Rax into Command Center and 3 Hatch Mutas).

Flash played pretty well here, but the key thing to note is that Jaedong faked out flash by faking Fast Ultralisks and then got his Greater Spire up and raped flash hardcore with Guardians. He killed so many M&M with is Guardians which allowed Jaedong control of the game which allowed him to get enough bases & gas for Defilers and Ultralisks basically.

This years Starcraft finals weren't quite what I expected from FlaSh, who performed a lot poorer than usual. Hopefully he'll step up his game and train harder for the next competition.

Congratulations to Jaedong on winning the Finals and taking home $40,000 and a trophy. Simply another thing to add to his collection.

Make Windows XP look like Windows Vista!

So, want your PC to look like Vista, but you don't want Vista itself? Well, it's your lucky day. I recently found two methods to make your computer look like Windows Vista, even if it's XP!

Method 1:

This is a step-by-step method to make your computer look like Vista. It's completely customizable and you can control everything. However, it takes a little bit of time to fully set up.

Method 2:

This is a simple .exe that you can use. It allows you to install the theme to your desktop, or if you want a more permanent result, you can install it directly to your system files. This is a great way to easily change your computer's theme, but it isn't AS controllable as the first method.

Both these methods may require WindowsBlinds to function 100% like Vista. WindowsBlinds IS NOT a free program, although you can get a free sample here.

So, follow the steps, read the instructions, and enjoy!

I've been seeing a lot of posts and comments with "x about y sucks" and "x really needs to change y" and, I'm sure you have too. What I want to ask you is, what exactly do you want to see from an MMO?

Do you side with slapnuts, where you would like to see brand new content every few months, even if it is just a alternative gear set, or a new dungeon? Or, maybe you are looking for something much more every month, such as new zones and quests?

Maybe you would be happy with a balanced, easygoing game? Maybe you are a hard core PvP'er and would enjoy a game more based around skill. Do you like the WoW arena system? What about battlegrounds? What are your thoughts on the FFA PvP from AoC?

Personally, I look for a game that does take a little more skill, and I also agree that when I am paying for a game monthly, it should be for more than their server space and bandwidth.

Yes, that is an actual screenshot, and yes, It is coming to World of Warcraft.

I new that Wrath of the Lich King was bringing us new stuff... but never did I expect something like this. I guess at heart, Arthas is a biker badass, and he wanted to share his beliefs with everyone else.

Now, what nobody knows is whether or not this is Engineering or not. If it is, then I envy every engineer who plays World of Warcraft. This is probably one of the coolest mounts. It's also speculated that these motorcycles might be faction specific. Why?

This. Notice the side cart? You can carry other players with you. So, if your level 10 buddy doesn't have a mount, you can ride him to wherever he wants to go on your stylish Alliance/Horde themed bike.

By the way, that license plate says "Pwn."

This is one of the cooler things I've seen from WotLK, and it's getting me even more pumped to get my copy. I wonder what else we'll see. Cars? Go Karts? Who knows at this point. Let's just hope Orange County Choppers doesn't get angry!

Achievement Unlocked: Over 9000 Hours of Gameplay

With Wrath of the Lich King comes new areas, a new classes, a new level cap... and what's this? An entirely new feature of the game? Yes, Blizzard has put on their thinking caps and released this marvel, which is guarenteed to glue millions to their computer screens in an attempt to...

Now, this brings some possibilites. What can we predict with Feats of Strength? Feats for High Warlord? Getting a legendary mount? Killing Ragnaros 30 times? Only time will tell. For now, this is only speculation, but it is something to look forward to.

All in all, I believe Achievements will add some more replayability to WoW, and make it more fun. It'll be something extra to do instead of farm, grind, do battlegrounds, or be stuck in arenas. This will add a little more depth to the game, and give people something to do. Players will go out of their way to do the silly, quirky, maybe even challenging things Blizzard has in store. It certainly isn't the most original idea, but it is a fun feature.

We'll just have to wait and see how it turns out.

Hey everyone, I thought I'd make a post with a little meaning. I recently found a program from Microsoft, and when you chat with it, you help out a cause. The cause I decided to help out was the AIDS foundation.

If you didn't know, AIDS is a terrible disease that kills the immune system, and makes someone vulnerable to normally harmless diseases such as the common cold.

In 2007, 33.2 million people were diagnosed with AIDS, and 2.1 million (330,000 of those being children) died.

Since there is currently no cure for AIDS, the fight against it is rough, and they need all the help they can to develop a solution for this disease. So, GameRiot, can you find it in the kindess of your hearts to help cure AIDS?

Can you stray away from your online gaming for a moment to help save millions of people world wide?

Help the infected fight the struggle. Make a difference. Help the fight against AIDS.
