Here in America, the Korean World of Warcraft scene is something we, or even our friends across the pond, know little about. In a couple of weeks, we’re going to try to change this.

While working at Major League Gaming Dallas this past month, Button Bashers Mage Orangemarmalade made friends with a lot of the WoW players and commentators. Since the tournament, myself and a lot of players have been talking with him online because his English is actually quite good. This got me to thinking about bringing him on ArenaCast in the future, but I didn’t want to make it like every other episode — it had to be different.

For this special episode, I’m trying to get as many communities involved. If you have any questions for Orange yourself you can send them to questionsfororange AT gmail DOT com. These questions will be asked (as long as they are appropriate) to Orange himself and we will try our hardest to ask every question submitted (as long as they are appropriate).

The deadline for question submission is Saturday, September 26th. Thanks for all those who submit a question. We are all looking forward to this very special episode.

It was great while it lasted GameRiot. Through your autoplay embed bugs, your site going down at random times, and your awesome users blogging about politics, we had some fun from time to time. But as with all great things, they must come to an end... or, move on to another website.

Proudly, it is finally time to announce our website: www.ArenaCast.net. This will be the last post about ArenaCast (from myself) on GameRiot. Rather then going out with a complete ad for the new website I figured I would do a goodbye post (so I dont get banned by the Reknerd!).

We're continuing on our weekly show at 8 p.m. CST every Wednesday, and we'll be adding more and more to the show as we (hopefully) continue to grow. I can only promise great things.

Some of these great things you can read about on our site! (OMG SHAMELESS PLUG SUCK IT KYLE). Tonight, for example, we have the pleasure of announcing compLexity's new World of Warcraft division. We'll also be announcing some new things coming to ArenaCast.

We have an .rss feed for both our podcast and our news now. We'll also be able to finally get syndicated on iTunes and Zune Marketplace. Thank God.

ArenaCast Live - Hamchook Revival? Shownotes (kind of) + more

Sorry for taking a couple hours to get this up. I was at school all day so I was extremely tired come show time, even lost my voice the second time I talked (as you can tell by my voice slowly sounding like I was about to take my last breath) so I went to sleep right after the show.

But anyways, on with the blog! (I apologize for the autoplay from the embed, its a bug with GameRiot's site, not with the embed because autoplay function is set to false)

On the show I stated that I wanted to get away from GameRiot as much as possible and this is only for one reason â€“ its a closed audience. I'm trying to open the show up to all pvp'ers, not just the ones here on GameRiot. You can see the problem when I have to go to another forum and post a link to a blog here on this site, when the site already has a negative stigma attached. So I might move to a general word press blog, but I'll definitely always use my Twitter page.

That is, THIS PAGE. I mentioned it in my past blog that I was going to setup a twitter for the show. After talking to the rest of the cast they all stated they don't really feel like micro-blogging (or any blogging at all, fgts). So I just setup my own Twitter. It will be used most of the time for e-sports updates from everywhere (GotFrag, SK-Gaming, team sites, and eventually ESFI). It'll just be a central area for all things e-sports. I'll try to keep personal things out of it but I can't promise anything. Sometimes I get extremely bored in class.

Oh yeah. We recorded last night. Way to wait till the fourth paragraph to talk about it me. The show went well, save for a couple Robo-Cop voices out of Sam / others. I think this has something to do with the fact that I am out-streaming from my laptop which is on a wireless connection (the LAN port is ******). There were also some first-time segments that we're going to tweak/overhaul in the future. Here is the VOD from last night below.

I don't have a direct download for you guys, but starting next week I am going to record Skype at the same time so there should always be a direct download after that.

The first is the Movie Review. The movie we were talking about can be found HERE. It was pretty dull and boring, especially since only two (three but Sam is quiet) of us actually contributed / watched the movie. In the future we'll probably have the ratings thing setup a little bit better, as well as the different judging categories better defined. I'll probably announced on Monday or Tuesday what our â€œMovie of the Weekâ€ is going to be and post the download link on Twitter so people know what the **** we're talking about. Perhaps I can get it playing on the stream in the background, but not promising that.

Next up is the user questions. It is pretty hectic trying to select all the user questions on the fly, and ask for them at the end of the show from users, only for users to go to the countless places we've spammed the show link (GameRiot, AJ.com, WoW forums, Nurfed, etc). So I set up an e-mail for this (which should have been done a long time ago). That email is ARENACAST@ESFIWORLD.COM. Feel free to e-mail all questions to here. I'll try to say this as much as I can at the beginning of the show so you can e-mail it and then I'll chose from it at the end.

ArenaCast S2 Debut, ArenaCast Awards '08 Results, WCG Ultimate Gamer Trailer

Sorry for waiting to get this up until this morning. I was tired and fell asleep listening to the new Rebel FM podcast, which I recommend if you were a fan of 1UP FM (and you've been following the drama of UGO buying 1UP.com, etc). Anyways, enough of that.

The show went great last night, we had our highest numbers yet for a live show and hope to only grow. I wonder if this has anything to do with the fact that it was two hours later, I kept the stream live all day with music playing, Serennia posting on World of Ming early in the morning, a combination of all three, or just the fact that the show is growing in numbers. Whatever the reason, thanks for everyone who listens and enjoys the cast.

Many people have expressed to me that they would like a direct download of the show. From now on, the day after recording, I will be doing this. I have to record by playing the show with "what-u-hear" setting, capturing the sound in Audacity (sound editing tool) in real time, so it will always take the show length plus a full minutes to snag and delete the skips from the stream. I apologize if I missed any this time, and apologize in advance to any I miss in the future.

Since ESFI isn't launched yet, I have no way of setting up an rss feed (I'm sure its easy to do but I'm pretty awful at this type of thing). A lot of listeners have asked where they can find show updates and things like that, apart from visiting GameRiot every couple of days to see if I have posted anything. Well, how about this. I just recently started using Twitter (I'm so behind the 2.0 days) and my personal Twitter can be found HERE. Subscribe to it or whatever you like, or just visit it every day or so. I'll try to update it with as much information as I can. I'll most likely use this space to post e-sports related news, ArenaCast related news,Â but also funny YouTube videos, etc, will likely be placed here.

But this brings up another subject: would you guys enjoy reading a Twitter that all the cast members post on? I'm not sure how dedicated the guys would be to posting on it, but I would most likely keep it rolling with new stuff as much as possible. Let me know what you think about this idea.

ArenaCast Soundboard Finished + Wednesday Show Announcements

Few quick notes before the debut of Season 2 tomorrow of ArenaCast.

- Soundboard is finished. You can view it HERE. There are only nine soundbites up at the moment but I plan to add more as Season 2 progresses and I have time to re-listen to some previous casts in depth more, as well as other shows (ESL.tv) and broadcasts (MLG, etc). If you guys have any specific ones you'd like to see on there, tell me!

- ArenaCast Season 2 premieres tomorrow (Wednesday) at 8 p.m. CST. We decided to back it up two hours so more people could listen in live, and if I ever do **** up again and not record (hopefully this will never happen) people wont miss out on stuff. This will be our normal, weekly time from now on.

- Tomorrow will feature several guests. Yog, well-known player and currently ranked #1 on Battlegroup 9 in 3s with a Warlock on his team (WTF?), will join us to talk about how he accomplished this. Serennia was also invited back and will be joining on the show. Guests like 2GD might make an appearance, we'll see. Jared 'vhell' Coulston might even hop on.

- ArenaCast Awards 2008 winners will be announced tomorrow. Its not too late to vote on the public poll, today is the last day! Go HERE to do so. Information on why the poll options are the way they are can be found HERE.

- Arena, of course, will be the topic tomorrow, but probably pull a lot of stats from SK-100 list and some of our personal arena stories over the past three weeks.

ArenaCast 2008 Awards -- Part 2/3

First off Happy New Years to all of you, even the trolls. As promised part 2 of 3 of the ArenaCast 2008 Awards are here, although a bit early, and on a different blog than promised last week. Serennia was raiding at the time of the post, and since I am an inpatient bastard I decided to just post it myself. Hopefully it will get more then 50 votes per award and I will not be hating myself seven days from now.

If you do vote, you may be asking yourself why the hell I had to link off-site. This is due to the awful embed code that the site PollDaddy.com provides. After entering 15 different polls each with multiple choices, I was not going to do it all over again on another site. Yes, I'm really ******* lazy.

So go on! Vote! It's fun to do! Results will not show up till next week when we reveal both the public and player results on Season 2 Debut of ArenaCast... although Hunter has already practically been decided.

On Season 2 of ArenaCast: we're trying to do better shows! This includes recording the entire show, instead of me having a profound moment of idiocy and not recording till 45 minutes in (I am stupid, yes). Also we'll try to have a little bit more structure instead of just hopping around from show to show -- I think the Serennia show was probably our best-to-date.

This will also include something that I still have not made, but will be done next week for the show: a soundboard! The soundboard will feature allÂ your favorite WoW sayings such as Inactive's "Nerd Sponsor", perhaps some gems from the Swarm Rage, Ming from our episode with him, and one cannot forget Didy's rendition of Realz ESL Philly battlecry from our ESL Philly shows. I'm sure I am missing some but we'll be sure to add as many as we can think of.

We're going to try to keep the shows to 1 hour long maximum. If perhaps its a big show and we have a popular guest we might run a little over, but this is both because I know listeners tend to stop, well, listening, and this upcoming semester for me will probably be somewhat hectick.

ArenaCast 2008 Awards - Part 1/3

Hi there. So what are the ArenaCast 2008 Awards? The usual members of ArenaCast were bull****ting after last weeks live cast with Serennia (whom you might be seing more of on ArenaCast -- more on that in the future), throwing around names on who was the best mage in 2008, etc, so I decided to follow up on that.

This basically was the start of something that I decided to do for the competitive community. I collected roughly 30 professional players (both American and European) and contacted them all with a list of topics, all of which they voted on.

Players are allowed to vote once per category. They can vote for themselves if you chose to do so, but they can only vote for players who participated at a professional event (MLG / ESL) in 2008. No online-only players are being allowed.

The professional players are still voting on their part. Voting ends January 6. So why the **** do you care about all this? Well, this is part one of a three part post. The next two posts will most likely be on World of Ming via Serennia-day.

I figured that there should be two forms of voting: players and community. The players have had theirs, so what about you guys? Yours will come next week. Still working on how I'm going to do this (looking at GameRiot polls but if can't do what I'm wanting then a non-GameRiot poll will have to do).

Just wanted to give you guys a heads up as it will most likely go up next Wednesday in Serennia's blog (most likely a link to the polls or something).Â And now heres a Japanese band singing about myself and how much I love the people. If you watch at YouTube theres a high quality version. I'm sure you care.

ArenaCast Live - 12/17/08 - Serennia joins in on the cast.

This week on ArenaCast, after listeners informed me they wanted more players on it, I decided to ask Vance 'Serennia' Phuoc to come on -- and he accepted.

So on Wednesday at 6CST Serennia will join the normal ArenaCast (Myself, Igoaf, Kintt, Oplaid) and we'll be discussing multiple topics, including the new arena season.

We'll be talking to Serennia mainly about Death Knight's but also some discussion about past tournament experiences, Swarm rage, and the lightning round. Should be a decent show so tune in!

Also if you have any questions you wish to ask Serennia (as long as they arent a complete troll obviously) post them in the comments here and I will ask him. If you have questions for anyone on the show or specific topics you want us to talk about then post in the comments.

Serennia will be posting the embedded live stream in his blog, and then updating it with the VOD stream after the show is complete on Wednesday. See you guys then.

Tonight we got a group of players together who had one thing in common - they all lost to this event's underdog story, Trade Chat Allstars. The victors themselves were unable to attend due to their mad dash to the aiport after receiving their oversized check, but we'll grab a few of them for a live show Wednesday night later this week.

Instead, we got to share in the grief of lower finishers, including GotGame West, Gravitas Gaming, and the team that came one round away from their first championship, GotGame East.

ArenaCast ESL Philly Episode 1 -- Multiple Players and ESL Admin Shawn

We came through with what we said we were going to do and produced our first event episode.

On this episode we have Realz, Happyminti, Azazael, Ely, Celex, Scoti, Shawn from ESL, myself, oplaid, plus about 20 other people who were in my room, who wanted to be silent. Queers.

I know people are probably going to ***** about the sound levels going back and forth and the reason for that is these players are all silent as **** and I am loud as ****, and we used a mp3 player with record (yes, we're that professional). So if you cant stand a few loud moments then I apologize. I decided it would be best to get this up tonight instead of spending a long time adjusting sound levels.

ArenaCast providing coverage for ESL Philly

UPDATE: Some controversy over lag in the Pandemic vs. Fnatic match; we'll discuss this tonight with the players and the ESL WoW Head Admin.

UPDATE: Evil Geniuses wins their group with a 3-0 win/loss and Gravitas Gaming gets second.

Myself and Sam 'oplaid' Lingle are here in Philadelphia, PA, at the Intel Extreme Masters U.S. Continental Finals. Group matches are about to start up here so make sure you watch them live on ESL.tv.

We will be posting coverage throughout the weekend as well as bringing you nightly audio recaps featuring some of the best players here at the tournament.

Tonight we hope to bring David 'shawn' Kugelmann with one player from all of the advancing teams from the group round. Make sure to watch www.esfiworld.com/arenacast for updates, but I'll probably post links to the audio files here anyways.

If warm-up matches are any insight into the tournament, then this should be one of the best of the year.

Fnatic managed to knock off a few RMPs - including Gravitas and the aforementioned Allstars - with Ret Paladin, Warrior, Resto Shaman, moving Hafu to a class she's barely played for more than a day.

ArenaCast is going live! Wednesday 8 p.m. â€“ 10 p.m. CST (so all you EST nerds can still go get in line to get WotLK) weâ€™ll be going live bringing you all of the pro players and anyone else who wants to come and talk with us on Skype.

Being the poor college student that I am, weâ€™ll be using a MacGyver rigged Ustream.com videoâ€¦ with no video, only audio. This will have to do until I figure out a better, cost-effective way to do this. Below you can find the embedded player, but it we wonâ€™t be live till 8 p.m. CST on Wednesday.

The cast this week will feature myself (JP McDaniel), Sam â€˜oplaidâ€™ Lingle, Jared â€˜vhellâ€™ Coulston, Nathan â€˜Kinttâ€™ Quinn, and Keith â€˜Igoafâ€™ Trahan unless he is pre-occupied. We plan on calling Ming and Jasi again but that is up to them if they want to talk.

One more week till WoW e-sports slows down and finally receives a break. With 3.0 this week, and ESL Montreal coming up, I decided it would be a good idea to get some of the top professional players to weigh in on the newest patch.

This week proved to be our longest episode yet. The full cast is here, although we are missing a new member which I'll be able to talk about in about two weeks or so.

This week on Arenacast we recap the events of the Blizzard U.S. and European qualifier events and also talk to Chris Lemley, manager of Team Pandemic, about the Dell College Gaming League among other things.

Before anything else is said about this episode I must confess that there are a lot of random noises featured throughout the casts, including Kintt's sister. This was the first time using new software and did not anticipate it picking up everything on the cast, including Skype chat room noises, a vacuum, random fans, etc. I apologize for this and next time they wont be here.

Sorry for the delay -- we've all been pretty busy. We finally all sat down and recorded our fourth show. I think this is our longest show thus far but the content I felt was pretty good.

Kint Announces New Squad for ESL, Plus Our ESL Preview Show

We finally recorded our third episode. We're still trying to decide on a name however so please help our uncreative minds!

It took a little longer this time to get everyone we wanted on in the right place at the right time but we finally got it done. As for the reason you probably clicked this blog (Kint's new team) I'm not going to reveal who it is, you'll just have to listen to the new podcast... although if you read just who is on the cast I'm sure you might be able to figure out just who it is.

Kint, Sam, and myself all make our regular appearances but also this week, Jared 'vhell' Coulston finally makes it on the show. Along with him we're proud to have three well known players.

First we have from Team EG Isaac 'Azazael' Cummings-Bentley. Isaac is well known for his Warlock and Warrior play and his first place finish at San Diego with the then unsponsored team. After picking up their sponsorship with EG, the team finished 3rd in MLG Orlando.

Next up is Brian 'Caal' McPharlin the Druid for Insurrection. Brian is well known for being one of the top teams back during the WSVG days and 2nd place at WSVG Louisville and Dallas.

Last but not least is David 'ohnoes' Atz. David was the former Mage for the well known RMP MoB Turtleforce team, lead by the once Golden Child Zecks. They had an impressive LAN record with 2nd at ESL Sweden, 3rd at WSVG Dallas, and 4th at WSVG Louisville.

The show is our longest yet (55 minutes) but hopefully its all good content as I enjoyed relistening to it. Theres no breaks either in it so its kind of a test show to see if this type of format (more people, more discussion) is something that is better. Let us know if we're right in thinking that.

Edit: After re-listening to the cast as I was typing this to make sure it was alright, I noticed after an edit with the audio the rest of the podcast's volume was lowered a ton. I think I raised the volume on the part fully but if I missed a small spot I apologize.

Taiwanese Regional Results, Episode 02 Sunday/Monday

The Taiwanese Regional took place this weekend and although covering the event was kind of hard due to the language barrier, here are the Upper, Lower and Grand Finals scores along with class comps.

In other news, we should be recording episode two of our new podcast here tomorrow sometime (Sunday). We've been meaning to record it to the past two nights but Jared 'vhell' Coulston has been missing in action and tonight (Saturday) Kint decided to get his beauty sleep in after we stayed up waiting for the results of the regional.

So finally people decided to stop dodging recording the show and we were able to sit down and complete the first episode of our little WoW eSports Podcast.

Myself, Nathan 'Kint' Quinn, and Samuel 'oplaid' Lingle sat down and talked about all things WoW eSports. Missing in action is Jared 'vhell' Coulston - hopefully we can have him on next time though.

I know that my mic level is much louder then the others. I'm really new to the audio world so hopefully by the next podcast or two I will have this sorted out (it's not as easy as turning down my mic, trust me I tried - Skype is just annoying). Oddly enough my microphone died about 20 minutes after I finished editing the show so perhaps this was all a bad idea.

WoW Podcast -- Episode 01 (soon)

A couple of my friends, as well as being major faces in WoW eSports, have decided to get together and do a podcast. It will cover a wide area of topics included actual events, team changes, popular discussion topics, etc. It is 100% for the community however and thats why we're starting out here on GameRiot.

I started kind of developing this project back when I worked for GameRiot but it never got off the ground and I eventually left the company, along with my friend Sam "oplaid" Lingle. Our first 'ever' cast I guess would be the Fury cast with one of the developers for the game. That however never actually was posted (although it was completed).

Now, since I am currently not working for any other site on a day-to-day basis (only covering events for Evil Geniuses), I decided to get the podcast up and running.

A website of our own is in the works but we decided to do a little 'testing' with the community here on the site. Getting feedback here is our number one priority and we hope to form a lot of the the show off of the listeners ideas.

In a couple days our first show will be posted here, but we don't have a name yet so any ideas are appreciated.

On the show this week will be: GotFragTV shoutcasters Jared 'vhell' Coulson and Nathan 'kint' Quinn, TeamPandemic.net Editor-in-Chief Samuel 'oplaid' Lingle, and myself JP McDaniel.

At the moment the show will be bi-weekly but if it gets enough attention we might move on to a weekly basis. Also I am kind of new to the audio editing field so I apologize for bad microphone levels and other audio issues... hopefully I can work these kinks out over the course of the first couple of shows.
