Street Fighter IV: On the rise.

SFIV just keeps getting bigger and better every single day. I swear it. At least it seems that way. This game seems to have singlehandedly pulled the formerly stagnated fighting game scene in the US and brought it into a limelight. Why, you might ask?

There was just an international exhibition between (in my opinion) the four best players at their characters in the world. Daigo was obviously more consistent than Poongko, but watch his matches and see the horrible aggro pressure he brings. On top of that, the US came close to taking it.

And of course, the biggest stages of them all in Fighting Games are coming up- Evolution (US, open) and Super Battle Opera (japan, invite only) which means.. those tournies are going to be really interesting this year.

On top of that, MLG is considering picking up SFIV for the pro circuit, or at least seems to be judging by their pretty avid support of the game at Meadowlands. Now there is a lot of back and forth on whether or not this is a good thing- but I see it as a way to generate hype, which can only be good. It can bring production values and television broadcast to the general neckbeard shakycam aspect of Street Fighter tournies.. (only two that don't have that problem are Evo.. which is like a 30 dollar per disc dvd or SBO.. which is also expensive, especially so out of Japan.)

On less of an e-sport note and more of general SFIV note, Championship Mode came out today.. seems pretty cool now, Netcode seems better but that could just be my opening matches since the school kiddies aren't home right now.

However, I just got a 5 bar connection Xbox Live. The first one I've even seen.

Played with a ghetto pain suppression priest, a sl/sl warlock, a frost mage, a shadow priest and myself and we got to 2004 during the 5v5 drought in my battlegroup. It's incredibly hard to level up, but we managed to get 60-ish rating this week in 10 games and things just clicked.

We figured everything out and got up there pretty quickly, then got a random 17 point loss and had to earn that back but considering how smoothly things went I might've been comfortable playing longer if I wasn't constantly getting pestered by trick-or-treaters and my latency is a lot worse than it's been in a long time.

Playing 300MS latency in arena has me all over the place, trinketing fears and staying feared but all in all my team was solid and we got to 2k.

I need to play more in 3v3, but I really don't feel like it since the team lineup that my 3v3 has the best lineup with is Rogue/Warrior/Warlock, it feels like, since when we play Rogue/Druid/Warlock everything seems to fall apart.

I want to try Rogue/Spriest/UA Lock before the seasons over or at the beginning of next season.

I got my S2 shanker and shiv because I was almost point-capped and figured I'll use the minor upgrade to get through s3. I didn't slap Mongoose on my MH, I just put a cheap 20agi on it because 20agi has a nice green glow reminiscent of level 60.

Now only if my backstabs crit for 1200 and that was a large amount of someone's life. :/

Now only if I could convince the wanna-be-e-thugs in the HARDCORE PVP GUILD on my PVE SERVER that my 2v2 wasn't powerleveled by Warrior/Druid. Because there wasn't a game of Warrior/Druid on my team at all. I wasn't PLed. I OBVIOUSLY was carried by Novos, DUH.

No seriously, I couldn't get 2300 without him.

Why? I can't come up with anything interesting to write.

I'm only occasionally doing 5v5, doing my dailies, waiting to get my epic mount and hit the poitn cap and then I probably won't log in until s3.

I'll be honest here:

WoW is boring when you've got nothing to do. And it's a PAIN to get 5 people on to do 5v5.

So. Before I just chill until I've got more to write I'll get basic **** out of the way:

1. I'm staying Mutilate in S3. Stop asking.
2. I'm using Shanker/Shiv. Use shanker/mutilator if you like Shanker/Shanker now.
3. No. There's no secret Rogue combos I'm holding out on.
4. The song from my movie you're curious about is listed in the credits. I guarentee it.
5. The song from a movie I didn't make is in a video I didn't make. Don't ask me. No, I don't know what 'x' mod is in 'x's video.

So yeah. Stop bugging me, I barely play anymore.

Season 3 Shanker/Shiv vs Shanker/Mutilator

Thanks to LOLSUNKEN for the picture. Grats on not being entirely useless.

As you can see, I plan on staying Mutilate for Season 3.

The Season 3 Maces, Fists and Swords are very disapointing look-wise and not at all as I had hoped (I hoped the fists looked like the Talon/Claw of the Al'ar, I was gravely dissapointed).

The daggers don't look too bad.

The shiv and mutilator cost the same amount of points, and the shiv will have the cheaper shivs whereas the mutilator will put out bigger numbers but the shiv will cost 4 more energy. That can add up.

I'm not a math junkie, and I'm sure some formulae will pop up in the near future for this exactly.

Vengeful Gladiator's Shiv average damage is 144.5.
Vengeful Gladiator's Mutilator average damage is 185.

Honestly the difference doesn't seem that huge. After this weeks arena points I plan on using my last 2 copies to try out Shanker + Shiv and Shanker + Mutilator and I will post the results.

I'm interested in the Mutilator just due to the fact that I haven't rolled with 2 slows since Malchazeen/Emerald Ripper. I started PVP with WBoS/Warp Splinter's Thorn, and I only rolled with a slow offhand for a while. It will be interesting to see if it's worth it to go back to slow/slow.

While I am a huge fan of slow/fast, if the damage difference is large enough I'll be considering it.

I've recently changed playstyles from less sustained to more burst- playing to the strength of Mutilate. This is mostly due to the fact that I have Renataki's Charm of Trickery now- it's quite incredible for bursting something down inside CC.

I'll more than likely be getting on the PTR with my druid partner tomorrow and doing rated 2v2 until we hit 1850 for the new weapons to do some theorycrap.

It'll probably suck considering I have absolutely no mods set up on the PTR at the moment, and introducing them tends to make things buggy and slow, especially with old mods on the new test realm.

I'll make it work.

Got to 2300 today, which basically means I'll get my Gladiator Title this season. While I'm not necessarily sitting on my rating, I'm going to minimize games per week for 2v2 instead of risking it- and focus my efforts on 3v3, working on getting a gladiator title for that too.

Ok, unlike Ming I won't simply talk it out without giving you both the PROS and CONS of speccing hemorrhage, so here we go.

PROS:
Even with Rogue Bleeds being affected by resilience (bug was fixed, QQ) Rupture is still a very powerful finisher when it's given time to tick.
There's buffs to sap and Hemorrhage incoming, as stated at Blizzcon and by a blue. This means that Sub builds will increase in utility in arena.
Ranged sap for 2v2/3v3.
Survivability of Preperation
Most builds have Quick Recovery, and Fleet Footed.
In the increase of armor ignore, speccing deep sub only gains from that due to Serrated Blades.
Quick combo point generation.
On demand burst (Cold Blood/Adrenaline Rush)
Synergy with the +10 energy PVP set bonus.
Non directional attacks.
Dirty Deeds buff makes for big scary numbers when they're in Execute Range.

CONS:
Eviscerate still scales poorly, thus diminishing Cold Blood's utility.
You won't have Mace Stun unless you spec AR/Prep Hemo
Laying down huge numbers is going to be harder.
Lack of Imp Sprint can make mobility an issue (or force you to blow prep or trinket early)
Reliant on crits to drop someone inside a cyclone/blind
Hemorrhage will NEVER be better than Sinister Strike, pure damage wise.

Now, all Blizzard needs to do is make the new season of arena weapons 2.7. 2.8 or slower would be ideal, but 2.7 works just fine.

Executioner Enchant + Armor Ignore PVP Gear + whatever sap and hemo buffs are on the way makes Hemorrhage a larger threat than it was. It takes it from 'decent' to 'good', depending on how they change it.

Another contender, for almost all of the reasons I stated is 41/0/20, making sure to max out 3/3 Serrated Blades.

The burst damage of an armor ignoring rogue with executioner, Serrated Blades, Improved Kidney Shot and Find Weakness is going to be something of legends.

Scheduling problems screwed me out of points from 5v5 this week- I still got 700ish points from my 2v2, but this leaves me 120 points short of my tunic.

Sigh.

Oh well, it might be time to get back into 3v3, and start playing that again. I haven't played lately on my 3v3 or 5v5 team, with an actually competitive makeup. When I had just transferred over here I got 2k with Rogue/Warrior/Pally.. but pools closed's rating just seems to keep dropping now that I don't play on it.

Rogue/Warlock/Druid is interesting, and I know the people to do it.. Rogue/Mage/Priest seems like a lot of fun but I don't know any mages or priests without a 3v3 that aren't absolutely goddamn awful.

Novos and I getting 2k in a night definately wasn't a fluke, we can probably get it quite a bit higher in the next couple days..

and for what it's worth, I'll be killing the felhunter.

The amount of talent being lost in the rogue community is at an all time high, and even as some old favorites such as Revak return, it's not enough to outweigh the fact that we've lost and are losing our heroes as days go by.

There have been a LOT of departures, but I'll list the recent ones.

1. Happyminti - Everyone loves Minti. His videos are constantly referenced to the best of any era of WoW movie making. When Dahis and Minti opened up Shadow Gaming back earlier this year, I was surprised and overjoyed at the idea of reading what these two rogue greats had to say on WoW PVP. I wasn't dissapointed. Shadow Gaming closed shortly after Minti's departure, and now it's a redirect to the World Of Ming blog here where Dahis posts.

2. Caen - Created one of everyone's favorite WoW PVP movies in the form of Apathy, had leveled to 70 only to have the security of his account exploited and his stuff vendored. Ouch.

3. Sev - This guy might've gone under some people's radars. Sev was from Ursin/Zuluhed, is a great rogue and a funny guy. He even made a movie (Google 'Story of a Rogue') and went to WSVG. At WSVG he was on one of the only teams to beat MoB in a game, despite winding up losing the match. He recently e-bayed his account to buy an XBox 360 and Halo 3. Traitor.

4. Nitrana - The best rogue in the world, statistically. Never lost a game of WSVG, and of course canceled his account with the death of WSVG. And who can blame him? It sucks to see him go, but it's totally understandable.

Who will we lost next? Girlz? Neilyo? Me?

Only time will tell.

So. I've started leveling my Blood Elf again, god knows why.. I was originally working on starting her as a 59 twink, but with more and more people telling me to get to 70 to do arena with them I've decided more toward that.

The Blood Elf racial is pretty mediocre in arena, if I could trade her in for an undead rogue of equal level I would in a minute, but as a human rogue in the arenas I have learned not to need a racial to gain an advantadge over my opponents. This will be yet another time I will have to simply outplay undead rogues and the like who have a better racial.

At least I twirl when I jump.

The dagger animations for blood elves are awful, so I may just model change. It's not worth grinding 54+ levels all over again just to have a slightly better racial.

The blood elf racial does have a use on an aggressive team, and for battleground pvp a 30 energy now and then is good.

I don't know how I'm speccing for arena at 70, I'm currently seal fate to level/pvp because it's what i enjoy most. When I hit 60 I may go Mutilate.

My first real order of business is grabbing some Devilsaur. I miss cheap shot and backstab now and then and it costs me quite a bit. I can wear the gloves right now which are a huge upgrade in every category for my gloves. That 2 set bonus caps me at 5% hit and I can start putting on equips for crit and gain more benefit out of it.

I don't know what I'm going to do in arena on Rae, I might just do 5v5 for points this week.

This past week I was perfect in 5v5, I played 9 games and went 9-0, including games without our warlock (who is amazing, tbh) and without freedom. We have an 1881 rating, which I know isn't that good, but it's good enough for me. After all, I don't claim to be anything above average.

Novos is supposed to be back, so I might try to do some 3v3 with him and a warlock.

Not really sure, don't really care.

So I was sitting down at the comp at 6PM, ready to watch Scrubs and do some BGs when I randomly heard thunder. I figured it wouldn't be that big of a deal. It couldn't be that bad, I mean I was outside before and it was bright, sunny, and cheer-y.

Boy, was I ever wrong.

Sky darkened, clouds filled it, and lightning struck the transformer outside my house instantly gibbing it. Kind of like that time in s1 when I came out of stealth facing 2 mages a warlock and a priest and got POM pyroed times 2, shadowburned and SW:Ded.

Power was out for a total of 3 hours, during which I made the best of this and took a nap. While I'm refreshed and... not tired, now, I missed Scrubs and my sleep schedule will be almost entirely out of whack.

Oh well, **** happens.

Gear Changes, now and near future.

Gear changes for me lately.

Having got my 4 set bonus, I dropped some resilience to gain 120 energy. Then I changed my hit rating gems for mystic dawnstones, and changed my Exorcist's Ring for the Ring of a Thousand Marks. This caused a general increase ni stats, giving me just under 1300 AP (1299), 26.23% to crit, and the same hit rating (79.. 5%). This puts me at 383 resilience, which is just barely under my ideal resilience.

I get my Gladiator's Chest in 3 weeks, and I'll be putting 2 Delicate Living Rubies and the PVP Inscribed Ornate Topaz in it. This results in a LARGE net gain of offensive stats.

from Grand Marshal's Leather Tunic (3 Stars of Elune + 150 HP enchant) to Gladiator's Leather Tunic (with 2 Delicate Rubies and PVP Topaz and 15 resilience enchant)

+32 Agility
+12 Crit Strike Rating (not counting from Agi)
+16 Resilience
+28 raw AP (another 32 from Agility, +60 AP)
-360 HP

Gemming it like that also opens up my Enigmatic Skyfire Diamond to be put in my helm (12 crit, 5% snare and root resist) giving me another large amount of crit and more mobility in 5v5.. which is -180 HP, and -5% to stun resist.

That will put me at 10k HP even, with plenty of offensive stats, dodge and resilience. I'll probably be at, near, or above 30% crit, too, once they buff my shoulders and make 15 agi to gloves cheaper.

In 5 Weeks I gain Renataki's Charm of Trickery, which will be replacing my Talisman of the Alliance. I'll lose more resilience, but I will burst like a truck.

After I get the tunic, I will be banking points for my Season 3 Shanker and Shiv, and have plenty of both sustained and burst.

Bought my Gladiator's Merciless Leather gloves today, getting my 4 set bonus and getting 120 Energy. With this development, I'm going to work toward getting Renataki's Charm of Trickery, and thus I worked to get a ZG group together.

We went and snagged mojo off of two of the bosses and made Mojo Madness. Went, wiped a few times because it's the hardest boss that randomly one shot both me and Nephele, so we brought in more people and owned it with 2 people in the party up.

Tuned for 20 people, even if it's easy for 20 60s, it's hard for 5 70s.

Killed him, Nephele and I got our Dream Thread and are one step closer to Renataki's Charm of Trickery.

Next Monday the instance switches over to Renataki, which will get us halfway there, then 2 weeks later Wushoolay, then 2 weeks later Gri'lek.. so in 5 weeks I'll have that much more burst.

Now I need to work on getting my 2v2 and 3v3 up. Rogue/Frost Mage is amazing, and Rogue/Druid/Warlock has promise.

So after a small attempt at ownage with hemo (it didn't work, i don't have the mats for surefooted either so I can't get my ideal setup quite yet) I jumped on the QR Combat Bandwagon. Haven't had much of a chance to try it out yet, and no I didn't steal Girlz's spec. I actually sat down with the talent editor and ****** with it until it came out some way I like. I had to get Fleet Footed. Just had to.

When I get my Gladiator's pants I'll lose 17 hit, so I have to enchant Surefooted on my boots and swap the 8resil gem in my bracers with a rigid dawnstone, so I remain hit capped since I can't find a guild to get me the cloak off of Shade of Aran.

I also redid my keybindings because with this spec I have more buttons than I can manage. The positive thing about getting Surefooted is that as I get my Gladiator's Gloves and Tunic I'll lose 0 hit rating, and gain more resil, HP and dps stats. By then I'll have enough time to hopefully bribe someone into the Aran Cloak for my throwing weapon, or I'll throw on my spare cloak of the Inciter.

WoW is hard!

This movie is just me getting sidetracked and wanting to improve my Vegas skills. This video contains some model editing and lots of cooldown usage against people who don't know how to play thier class. Every opponent I'm facing is at least 2 levels higher than me so it's justified.

My level is in the bottom left corner, theirs in the top right. Health frames top left. Since I'm using Bongos2, my action bars are hidden unless I mouse over them- I don't click anything so I don't need to see them.

All the programs used, the mods, and the music are in the end of the movie.

My weapons in this movie are Thrash Blade and Sang'thraze the Deflector, model changed to look like Chromatic Tempered Sword and Maladath. My armor was model changed to look like Nightslayer.

My spec is 11/31 combat swords, Relentless Strikes and Adrenaline Rush.

This really isn't a skill movie. This is just a fun/funny movie, enjoy it for what it is.
