We, Americans, have the means and the power to do anything from harnessing the power of the atom to destroy the world, to supplying unlimited energy to the world. The rest of the world *****es because they don't have our nearly unlimited opportunities. Even other first world countries fall sub par compared to our legacy of awesomeness. Do you have our human rights? Do you have our capabilities? Does the world rely on your economy? Have you won wars with nukes? Did you create the atomic bomb first?
I didn't think so. The rest of the world, we love you - you give us something to relate to. Especially European countries, we love your humor. You point out how stupid Americans can be, yet still be superior. Especially in Sweden, where men don't like to have sex as much as the women (sweden's women like to have sex more than men). Thank you other countries, for your hard working poor, your uneducated masses - who historically have succeeded in becoming the "hard" working rich, the educated elite - read: honorable - we're not entirely ungrateful.
Finally, we thank you other countries, especially France and Britain, for giving our ancestors during both World Wars, a focal point to come together to fight a war of grand scale aka saving you from German occupancy.

i don't remember so much anti-american hate during clinton's years. sure there's the stereotypical jokes, "hoho, american tourists are obese and obnoxious," but it's never been as bad as it is now. i don't think it's fair for an unpopular president to make picking on everyone else okay. that said, there's a lot of **** wrong with this country -- unemployement, debt per capita, poor infrastructure in almost every city, reliance on cars & foreign oil, frail dollar -- that need to be fixed before the US will have as much prestige as it did 30 years ago

Sadly those jokes true. Ever been to Cancun or Playa del Carmen? It's horrible and a cultural shock as a European.

Considering two thirds of the German force were fighting on the eastern front from Operation Citadel onwards and the Soviets had pushed the Germans back an unprecedented amount in European military history; i would say the Russians saved Britain and France more than the US ever did. Plus American stupidity at Omaha for refusing to use British specialized tanks to attack coastal defences whilst launching the Sherman tanks too far offshore reveals your military incompetency and general disregard for your soldier's lives. You sir are truly misinformed.

i would say the Russians saved Britain and France more than the US ever did.
You could say whatever the **** you would like. But its not true til the Americans agree to its truthfulness. I am pretty sure we agreed that we saved the world from Nazi Tyranny. If we didn't liberate France, they'd be speaking German. If we didn't save Britain from continual attacks, they'd have lost. Where would the Russians be then? Still in Russia. They fought because they were attacked. They didn't give a **** about you uppity Europeans until they sought retaliation on Germany. If you have any further questions or allegations, I'll be happy to answer/correct them for you.
If we were imperialists, we'd own all of Europe by now. But we see imperialism as backwards to our superior understanding of civilization. Why directly control a country when you can control it from behind the scenes?

The Atlantic Wall - the handiwork of Germany's greatest general, Rommel - held out for four hours against 18 year old draftees from Brooklyn and Des Moines at a cost of 2500 KIA. By early afternoon the Stars and Stripes flew over all the battlements and our young men were already pushing inland on their way to smashing the Nazi war machine.
Day 1 of the Somme: British suffer as many casualties in one day (60,000) as the U.S. suffered in nearly 10 years of war in Vietnam.
We can't compete with that level of competence.
