Okay, so apparently Darkfall is finally going to be released, not just going into beta, but actually. being. released. According to the Wikipedia article (because www.darkfallonline.com doesn't have anything on their front page) it is going to be launched on Jan. 22nd in the EU. If that isn't going to be it's international release date, we can expect it to hit the US in less than a week following.
Now, I haven't had the stamina to follow Darkfall throughout the years of its development, but I do remember the premis of the game: hardcore PvP. Everyone is attackable at any time, you die, you lose all your gear -- although gear isn't as big of a deal as in WoW or other games. You kill someone, you take their gear. The world is going to be much more open, think old school Star Wars Galaxies, not the cramped worlds of Age of Conan or Warhammer Online. Player cities, seiges, world PvP, etc. Obviously this game isn't a "WoW Killer", it isn't an anything killer. Darkfall is simply a niche MMORPG for the niche community of hardcore PvPers. If that piques your interest at all, go research a bit. If you're interested in playing with other members of the BG9 community, stay tuned to our blog or visit us on IRC. If you have any relevant information about its release or general game information that might further entice people, post up and I'll edit it into this blog.

Umm.. Pretty sure there is only one server.
Besides... No one gives a **** about BG9 in Darkfall.

Also, there is no scheduled US release, because there are no producers for the US. We all will be playing on the EU server.

So game is going live in 2 weeks without there ever being a public beta? and their small private beta only started like middle of november or something, which means they'd have 2 months of testing with only a handful of external testers with a world that is supposed to be as large and feature rich as they are boasting.Â
I dunno, just seems like these guys are even more cocky than McQuaid and Jacobs were, with even less to show for it. Not a good sign
. Just seems weird that 2 weeks before release theres no new trailer, nothing at all on their website front page, no substantial beta leaks, no lift on the NDA and no whisper of a public beta.Â
My hope though is that I'm dead wrong and this game turns out to be a great alternative to wow. At least something to play when i have nothing else to do (which is like 80% of my time logged into wow currently).

I don't get why people are getting excited. I guess most aren't a "old timer" like me where I think I heard about Darkfall like right after HS lol...
