Best Warlock in the World: Arena Video

On Saturday, Superpaul (Dark Iron) posted his PvP video (http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=1602253705&sid=1) and as a Warlock I felt it was my duty to watch it, and I guess in turn give my lovely opinion on it.



For anyone who doesn’t know who Superpaul is, he is the best Warlock in the world. Why? Season 1 his team was rated 2701. 2701 is damn hard to hit, imagine losing 30 points a loss to the rank 2 team for a mere 5 for a win. Regardless that is past, currently he runs with a Paladin named Dontjudgeme who is slightly under geared, as opposed to Pronne who has moved to Tich.



The Video:



Basically the video consists of 3 arena matches and 2 duels. The duels are against one of the better PvP Warriors on the server in which he wins, barely, as well as against a PvE Rogue with some PvP Gear, meaning he has BT weapons and can dish out some decent damage as well as has some stam from the PvP gear to last a decent amount of time. He only wins this one through a damn nice kite after being burst down to 20%. Standing still and draining doesn’t work against rogues, and it shows this CLEARLY.



The 4 Arenas.



The first game is beautiful. He goes in with his Paladin against a Druid/Rogue/Lock combo (3v2 for those bad at math). The problem was the lack of offensive dispel (felhunter doesn’t really count as its sitting on the pally keeping him in combat) so the Rogue was being thrown around with fears and COEX and it turns into a long game, which is hard as Rogues and Warlocks last forever. There were a few mistakes (mostly positional) however they were minor and didn’t win or lose the game. Reapplying felarmor would have been a good decision, especially before bandaging and Cannibalizing, to gain a little more health.



The 2 other 3v2's are against a Warrior/Mage/Priest combo and a Priest/Warlock/Warlock combo which he plays 2 different strategies, one a pure cc healer burn down the other guys and the other a mix of draining and bursting (if you can call Sl/SL damage 'burst'). Both are good games and I’ll try not to spoil it for those who haven’t seen them.



The last arena game is a 3v3 between Warlock/Pally/Warrior vs. Warlock/Pally/Warrior which was a decent game to watch. Very hard to follow what’s happening, but basically they started by opening on the Warlock as well as dotting the Warrior and CCing the Pally. Didn't work as nothing died so the damage shifted to the Paladin with dots on the Warlock and both targets dropped almost at the same time. One mistake I can't help but comment on was trying to fear a Deathwished Warrior, the GCD would have been better spent dotting something (anything!).



Regardless, it’s a great video, nice and short at a little under 20 min, but still some good viewing for anyone.



I have personally played against Superpauls team in 3's, and the team is very good, and well coordinated. We got destroyed for a few games, although Spriest/Lock/HPriest doesn’t do to well against Warriors with good healers.



Finally, I'm sure to get some 'LOLFEARDOTODOTDOT' comments, but honestly every class is the same, there’s the good old FROSTNOVAICELANCEICELANCE, the NS+EM+CL+ES and the good old CHARGEHAMSTRINGMS. The skill comes in the kiting, and Warlocks are probably the second worst ranged class for kiting (behind Priests) with only Deathcoil to get a melee person off you.
