It's a piece of ****, and if you like it, so are you (sry jasi).
I know it's been beaten to death, but changing in in the middle of the ******* season? What a complete ******* joke.
I am amazed at Blizzards ability to continually **** on the non-retarded-hippopotamus (NRH's for the purpose of this blog) population, and especially at how most of us seem to lie there and eagerly take it like Estel takes a bi-weekly dicking from an elderly Cuban man.
RETARDS AHOY, TOOT TOOT, CHANGE NUMBER 1
When the 3 arena sets were announced in TBC, I, and I assume almost all of the general NRH populace thought it was pretty good. Introducing ratings on the weapons and shoulders were great, and having an entire set for the top end PVPers seemed really cool (like Duckers). Of course, the stats couldn't be too amazing or it would promote an even larger seperation of the good v bad players. However, symbolism (and hopefully COOL looks) was enough.
So, the set costs from between 2k to 2150 to buy. A little low to be honest, I would have prefered 2050-2250 or something, but whatever. This is a positive change.
JK I'm Blizzard.
Okay so a 25 man boss that can be pugged by a group of retards whose top DPS doesn't break 2k drops THREE OUT OF FIVE pieces of Deadly. Gear that you're supposed to be 1970+ to get.... So now we have people in full greens / heroic blues with THREE PIECES OF DEADLY gear running around, BEFORE THE ******* SEASON HAS EVEN STARTED. COOL MAN.
Meanwhile on my Priest, I've done VOA (10 and 25 man) every single week since the FIRST WEEK WOTLK WAS RELEASED, and I have never seen a single piece of hateful or deadly gear drop.
Whatever, PVE sucks, and they still can't get Shoulders or Weapons or anything like that.
JK I'm Blizzard.
"We felt that even though Rival keyturning Hunters, Mages, Rogues, DK's and Paladins are able to reach 2k, the Deadly Gear is just too darn hard to get. We have now reduced the Deadly Gear to a more suitable rating that is closer to what it was in Arena Season 3."
Oh okay then. That's pretty weird and **** that you would randomly decide to do that, but it's not the complete end of the world I guess.
I GOT MY FOOT STUCK IN THE ESCALATOR, CHANGE NUMBER 2
Man. That change was pretty ******* ****ty. 2050 shoulders... Lower PR needed than S4. Oh well, at least complete and utter retards won't be able to get them I guess.
JK I'm Blizzard.
"We noticed some players were having a hard time progressing up through the arena rankings, especially now that so many people have suddenly become ten times more skilled at PvP this season - we hope this new point system remedies any and all problems, as we have essentially made it absolutely impossible to lose rating."
Ah okay. Aside from the absolute cluster-rape that was the first day or 2 with Blizzards "BRAND NEW ARENA SYSTEM" (I still see people in the 1700s with Flawless Victor) they have changed it yet again, and have actually commented that "OKAY WE'RE DONE, IT'S FIXED FOR REAL THIS TEAM".
Win 18 every game. That's pretty cool I guess, I was only getting 10 before. Lose 6-7. Hmmm.
SO... Basically with this new genius system, you could go 2-4 at 2000, and go up 8 points. In fact, you could go 2-5 and stay at the same rating.
That's pretty cool I guess.
Basically with this new FINAL system, anyone who can sustain a win ratio of 33% or more will gain rating.
Glancing at the BG9 ladder, the teams that have been top 10 all season but haven't played this week have already been knocked back to 30th+. INSANE RATING INFLATION HERE WE COME.
SO WHAT THE **** IS YOUR POINT YOU FAT ****?
Pretty much the lowering of Deadly gear, and this new BS system, I'm pretty sure that 1700-1800 teams will reach 2050. Congratations Blizzard you've finally made it so anyone can "succeed" in arena.
Oh, and stop ******* using the word "casual". Just say bad. Because I'm pretty ******* sure you can play 30 games a week and hit 2200. In fact, find me an arena player who even logs onto this **** game outside of a couple hours of arena, or PVE raiding (because Ulduar is probably going to be harder than 2400) and I'll find you a 9/10 woman who doesn't fight off the urge to vomit when they see me naked.

Who cares if everyone has shoulders? Seriously.
Then some of the best players decided they wanted to have superior gear, and the raiders whined about welfare epics.
Now, there is virtually zero incentive for the vast majority to play arenas.  No weapons/oh/ranged. And only blue gear which you can buy with just honour anyway. I have 1k AP (late start
I don't PvE as I have a wife and 2 kids and dont have the time to raid. But every team we face (even when I dropped below 1300 as a fresh 80 in s4 gear) has almost full naxx epics. And as burst is king those naxx epics are far far greater than any gear I can atain through arenas/BGs.
Fine degrees of skill has become almost irrelevant, in a 1v2 against 2 mages I never got silenced once over the course of a 2 minute fight. But even though they were dreadful I didn't stand a chance.
TLDR: Arenas suck for the vast majority right now.

How could you of all people not get the point I was trying to make, by using Deadly gear as an example.

1)Â Arenas are now more competitive, and gaining/losing points is based on something much more permanent and realistic than team rating, which is an awful way to judge how good a team is
2)Â You can leave/rejoin teams freely, personal rating goes up quickly, and you immediately queue against high rated teams - good for people that want to play with multiple teams.
3)Â Less capable of farming low rated teams for high rating - no more leaving/rejoining to reset PR and fight bad teams quickly
The only major complaints that I think are valid was that PR was falling behind TR, which has been fixed, and that your hidden rating cannot be seen so it is sort of annoying to 'guess' what your average hidden rating is (not really a big issue, just an inconvenience).
So... what was your point exactly? Again I ask, who cares if bad players get good gear? They're still bad players, and now they can't use the gear excuse.

The new system is good in theory. In practice its like communism; can't work with human unpredictable interactions.
In resume, the system makes sure 50% of the players are below 1500 and 50% over 1500 (Visualize it as a forced Normal Distribution). In the old system, you could disband and reform teams from 1500, which lead to <1500 teams disbanding / reforming and therefore introducing points in the system : Inflated ratings. The problem now is that if you are over 1800, the system qualifies you as "the top 10%" (Random numbers) so that unless you f--k up badly the system will be backing you and protecting you from dropping in ratings. If you are under 1300, the system decides you belong to the 1300 (or even worse... 600 as the new system tends to push the worse team to 600) and unless you go 50-0 (fake numbers), you won't go up in ratings being "forced" into the scrub rating. This is why there are reports of 5-10 wins / 20-25 lose in the lower ratings compared to 20-25 win / 5-10 lose in the upper ratings. Worse... This won't stop since people being forced into the <1300 will disband and reform just to find themselves being kicked even harder in the nuts and dropping to 1000 in a few games. This will go on and on until they stop playing at which point the system will target the next team in line and fix it at 600 rating... Its not going to work.
Oh and the arena system is fun now :P
