I had this idea for re-binding more than 2 years ago while messing around in WC3, but I couldn't find the keys I wanted to re-bind in the binding txt doc. Anyways to the point, re-binding the arrow keys to WASD is totally awesome, since there aren't very many things to be bound in HoN its not that big of a deal to shift ur W to E, E to R, and I shifted R to F, attack to tilde. Doing this cuts out one of the worst mechanic of RTS games which is needing to move your mouse away from where you would rather have it, all the way to the edge of the screen just to move the screen slightly while ranging/microing.
I didn't rebind stop, I might be wrong but I didn't see a need for it after rebinding hold to an easier key (g), if you try the WASD binds you definately want to unbind/re-bind the shops so that you dont try to move ur screen and buy ****, it doesn't seem like clicking to buy is a problem at all but you can rebind shop to num pad or something. Without WASD bound in your shop its easy to look through the shop while microing / moving the screen with WASD and landing KB's on npc's.
If I compared this to something in WoW I would say it is most closely related to binding party members as a healer, you don't need to do it, not a lot of people do it, but it is without a doubt much more effective and any healer that has made the change and gotten used to it will agree as long as they use good binds for it. Another thing I've noticed doing is combinding screen scrolling with targeting, this is similar to what is done with aiming in an fps, often times it is a combination of strafing your aimer onto the person and slightly adjusting your aimer with your mouse. Minimizing on how much you need to move your mouse is pretty much always a good thing because it allows you to maximize using your mouse on other very important things that you would otherwise have to split the utility of your mouse between.

cutting out something unnecessary = more efficient, efficiency is a big deal if you want improvement. Its also just faster.

never really found this to be a big deal ;/
once you learn to double tap your unit hotkeys it just moves the camera right back over your hero anyway

yeah thats true forgot about that even though i do use it. Still though, it will cut out a huge chunk of uneeded mouse movements that you can reallocate to other important stuff.

Or it oculd be because I hardly played dota or wc3 and have only played a handful of games of hon, i mentioned all this and said I wasn't great. I just got caught up in trying to make a point and over analyzed overlooking something I even use.

I've met plenty of healers that think binding unit frames is trivial until they have given it a real try realize how much it can help.

yeah you can move the camera around by clicking middle mouse on the floor and moving it anywhere you want. I don't see the point of AWSD for moving the camera when you only have 1 freaking unit to control.
And im pretty sure if HON is a copy paste of WC3 you can do shift + f2f3f4 to bind positions on the map like the runes.
And usually in RTS you bind your units and double tap them to get to them, theres rarely any use of moving ur camera at all with the mouse.
Maybe for WC3 when you are chasing down some random ass **** but that game sucks dick anyway you just tower D and press A in the back of a base and win tournies.
no need 2 nilio the **** out of hon just van rup 2 cheap n ur gud
