The lock was originally specced into a crappy 5/0/56 destruction spec he claimed to love until I bullied him to spec first in affliction - he made an abomination of the build by filling out the whole aff tree and just randomly spurting the leftover points into something or the other - and now into the beloved SL/SL spec which I ran him through point by point.
His survivability with the build is amazing - amazingly terrible, that is. He's usually the first one to die and does so with amazing provess, although sometimes we do manage to keep him alive by nuking down a similarly squishy warlock who thinks soul link makes resilience obsolete. I guess he just needs a bit of gear, but his alts steal his attention away from BGs every time I'm not looking. He speaks very little on ventrilo, and when he does, he makes everybody ears bleed with his shrilly voice and lack of a headset. Does a decent job spamming his drains though.
And now the meat (no pun inten.. no wait I do intend) of the article: our lovely resto druid. She's the cutest little thing, a steaming hot Turkish girl who moved to the UK to study (drumroll..) english (clash!). She currently lives with her boyfriend, who happens to be in the same guild as we all do, and diligently does his cooking, washing and farming of gold (no really!). She would be the best geared of us three, but I couldn't get her to understand that yes, it would help to use those +12 Stamina gems for your armor as it's nice to have more +healing, but it won't do as much good if you're dead and moaning on vent the first thing every game. She talks a lot in vent which used to give me a hard on but now is just plain annoying.
I don't have an issue with her skills as a healer, she does a great job, if futile, job at keeping our warlock up and even manages to toss a cyclone here and there or feral charge a mana burn. What she is not that good at is playing the arena outside the arena. When we lose two games in a row she immediately declares that we should stop playing lest we lose all of her rating, and delibarately starts making dinner for her lovely boyfriend just when we were supposed to have a few games. She also is very frustrated if we get less than 16 points from every win we get and my god, you really don't want to lose a game when she's having her period.
I just finished a rare session of ten games where we ended up gaining a total of 8 points since a few of the games our warlock had gear that had somehow gone red without him noticing, and the last ones he ran out of soul shards. Our beloved healer was very chatty tonight, telling us all about her trip to the movies with her boyfriend and how she thought the Harry Potter-films were terribly underrated.
I think it's time for a stiff one of whatever booze I've left from friday and a nice six hours of sleep before a thrilling day studying the wonders of finnish legistlature, advanced integral mathematics and the english language.

What does this have to do with warlocks being sucky and girls being bad at arena? You just have a terrible team, get over it.

Perhaps at the very least it overturns the claim that any noob can play a warlock and succeed, and proves the point of girls not being as competitive as guys which I would find a liability in the arena.
We're not quite as terrible as I made it sound, we're on a nice enough rating of 1800 where we've halted for a bit.

1 girl deciding not to play the game hyper-competitive = girls aren't competitive
I'm sure you could find a similar guy and declare the same thing if you like...

The QQ doesn't match reality, what an amazing revelation.
This just in:Â WoW is a popular game, I am going to go write a blog about it now.

For everyone who thinks they've been cheated out of another
Netherdraker's opinion on high level arenas, I'm sorry you didn't get
the joke. I guess I should've left the terms Warlock and Girl in the
singular, the idea was to rip a bit on all the spectacular revelations
and news of great player acquisitions made by all the fine bloggers of
Gameriot.
For the record, I don't actually think that the female and warlock population of Earth are bad/sucky at arenas.

Looks like I missed the point :S As a reader, it honestly felt more like you were venting first, funnying later. That's not to say I didn't laugh though.

Heh, I used to play with a female warlock, she was the most competitive and aggressive player in the team. Granted, she wasn't the best warlock, but she always thrived to be, couldnt take criticism though ;p
