Some various fights I put together while the server wasn't chain crashing yesterday and today with the new prot talents.

The amount of lockdowns and cooldowns in general that a prot warrior has in their arsenal now is amazing. I feel almost like a prep rogue with so many abilities available to use instead of just mortal strike and hamstring (basically). The first fight is a true show of how much you can entirely lock down a healer as prot spec that you could not do as Arms or Fury.

It's especially funny and interesting because I would like to emphasize that there is no possible way I would have been able to beat those Death Knights had I been fury or arms spec no matter what cooldowns I use.

Prot is easily a healing reduction away from being arena-viable atm.

have you tried something along the lines of

as a group utility spec for 4DPS or w/e

MS, imp disarm, shield slam, silence, conc blow, imp tc, imp hamstring, etc
while being probably the worst target for any possible switch

I've been leveling up a new warrior, since I was initially attracted to the notion of Fury being PvP viable. The insane amount of mobility it seems that prot warriors are getting now is really making this a hard choice though =)

They increased Shockwave to 75% AP in damage (from 25% I believe), so I'd bet it hits rather nicely now.

Do you need PvE gear for shield stats or what kind of gear were wearing?  I'm not sure what's all available in beta.

It looks really fun.
