Note that this is not a comprehensive list of changes.
Elemental
* Thunder (51 point talent): You call down a bolt of lighting, energizing you and damaging nearby enemies within 10 yards. Restores 5% mana to you and deals 595 to 679 nature damage to all nearby enemies, knocking them back 20 yards. Instant cast, 45 sec cooldown.
Finally a tool to set up some of those nuke combos when being "shut down" by an obnoxious melee class. This spell also returns 5% of your mana and does damage to anyone it hits.
* Improved Fire Nova Totem adds a 2 second stun
While it's on a delay, this is another great tool for getting a brief opening to cast when you're hounded by a melee.
* Lava Burst, a new instant nuke that will automatically crit if the target is affected by Flame Shock (the Shock will be consumed).
* Astral Shift (talent) - Requires 40 Points - When you are critically hit twice in a row, you have a 33%/66%/100% chance to shift into the astral plane, causing you to be immune to all physical damage for 3 seconds. This effect has a 30 second cooldown.
Yet another nice defensive tool against melees. Less protection than Cheat Death overall, but it can proc when you have higher health, and effect has a shorter cooldown.
* Storm, Earth, and Fire (talent) - Requires 45 Points - Your frost shock has a 5%/10%/15%/20%/25% chance to root the target in frozen ice for 2 seconds, your earthshocks range is increased by 1/2/3/4/5 yards, and your periodic damage done by flame shock is increased by 20%/40%/60%/80%/100%.
A very nice series of buffs overall for the Shaman shock repertoire.
Enhancement
* Feral Spirit (51 point talent): Summons 2 spirit wolves under the command of the shaman, lasting 30 seconds. Instant cast, 2 min cooldown, 30 yard range.
Something like Treants for Shaman? Not sure how good this will be until we see what the wolves actually do, but lorelol lovers may enjoy the idea.
* Mental Dexterity talent (3 points) increases your AP by 33%/66%/100% of your Intellect.
* Improved Shamanistic Rage talent makes you immune to Stuns and Movement Impairing effects while under Shamanistic Rage.
Similar to TBW for Hunters, this one will be enjoyed by Shaman everywhere.
* Axe/Mace/Fist Specialization (talents):
Axe - Increases the critical strike damage bonus by 5%/10%/15%/20%/25%.
Mace - Has a 1%/2%/3%/4%/5% chance to increase your melee haste by 10% for 15 seconds.
First - Attacks from your fist weapons have a 1%/2%/3%/4%/5% chance to reduce the armor of your target by 20% for 6 seconds.
Restoration
* Spirit Link (51 point talent): You link the friendly target with two nearby targets, causing 50% of the damage taken to be distributed to the linked targets. After 2200 damage, the link will sever. Instant cast, 40 yard range, 372 mana.
A great instant ability to add to the Shaman healing repertoire, which should be great for slowing down damage while under pressure. A bit like Blessing of Sacrifice taken to the next level.
* Ancestral Awakening (talent) - Requires 40 Points - When you critically heal with your healing wave or lesser healing wave, you summon an ancestral spirit to aid you, instantly healing the lowest target within 40yds for 20%/40%/60% of the amount healed.
Another great talent for group play, we could see downranked LHW spam come into play to make this baby activate constantly in PvP settings.
* Earthliving Weapon: Imbue the Shaman's weapon with earthen life. Increases healing done by ?? and each heal has a 20% chance to proc Earthliving on the target, healing an additional ?? over ??. Lasts 30 minutes.
Numbers are not clear yet, but finally something for a healer to pop on his weapon as shaman.
* Tidal Waves (talent) - Requires 45 Points - Increases the critical effect chance of your lesser healing wave and healing wave spells by 1%/2%/3%/4%/5% and your healing wave and lesser healing wave spells gain an additional 5%/10%/15%/20%/25% of your bonus healing effects.
Stronger heals across the board, and some additional proc chances for Ancestral Awakening. Not very flashy, but a solid talent.
* Cleanse Spirit (talent) - Requires Purification - cleanse the spirit of a friendly target, removing 1 poison effect, 1 disease, and 1 curse effect. 40 yard range, 186 mana.
That's right, a curse removal coming to the Resto Shaman! Here's looking at you, Curse of Tongues!
Conclusions
Thanks for Crazy for his work on these leaks in general, I will not be updating this post as more info is clear over the next several days but I would encourage all of you to visit http://www.deathknight.info/ for more details as they are uncovered!

Don't forget; Elemental Focus now effects heals as well (Minus chain heal). Will help with the mana efficiency considering the amount of spell crit available through talents and gear.

Good point, I neglected to include this. With the new gearing system for unified stats, and the extra spell crit through talents, this will be a huge mana boost to Resto Shaman. Nerf Water Shield! =)

Hard to tell really, there is some truth and some speculation there. Best bet imo is to check out either of these two sites for reliable info:

Well of course there will be changes but it's at least interesting to see some of the ideas they are throwing around (imo).

You know I hate to QQ but:
* Cleanse Spirit
talent) - Requires Purification - cleanse the spirit of a friendly target, removing 1 poison effect, 1 disease, and 1 curse effect. 40 yard range, 186 mana.
Paladins have been asking for this since 2.0 when they first gimped divine illumination into worthlessness. Whatever the hell they're giving holy paladins better look good.
All this aside, this post is about shamans, and their new talents do look interesting. The wolves thing is a little bit of a let down to me, it seems like blizzard comes up with cool new ideas for warrior and warlock talents, then other classes get crap like 'HEY WHAT IF WE TOOK TRENTS AND GAVE THEM TO SHAMAN!'

yeh they are screwing mages over too IMO on the creativity end of wotlk talents. there seems to be a pretty big difference in the time they took to redo some classes in their play, and others being more of the same.

I'm pretty sure there wasn't much brainstorming at all for most new spells and talents.
The brainstorming process probably went something like this:
BLIZZ1: Okay we need new ideas for WotLK, GO!
BLIZZ2: How about be just recycle old talents for different classes?
BLIZZ1: I like that, but I'm sure people will respond negatively if thats all we did.
BLIZZ2: What if we jacked some ideas from DOTA too, like... we could give Lycanthrope's wolves to Shamans... and maybe Juggernaut's Omnislash to Warriors/Rogues, or maybe both and just change the wording or something? There are more than enough ideas in DOTA that we could put into our game.
** silence **
BLIZZ1: Okay yeah, that sounds good.

True, and we still haven't seen Paladin. Something tells me Paladin is going to have the most "recycled" abilities yet, among the 41+ talent tiers.

...Wtf.
Did you never actually PLAY WC3 or are you acting like a dumb **** that doesn't know that those were all abilities of WC3 heroes before DOTA was even made to troll people?
Far Seer (base for shaman) had wolves.
Blademasters (base for warriors) in WC3 had Bladestorm which is almost exactly like the warrior talent.

Me I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THESE NEW TALENTS.. WE WILL NOT FEAR ROGUES TANKs ETC..
I DONT THINK shaman will we the least played character in the game anymore..rogues will think twice when they see us.. this is awesome cant wait for wotlk

Yeah we seem to have a lot of that showing up from the trickles of info I've seen. Many WC3 ability names are appearing with new WotLK talents/spells. Kinda fun =)

it would be awesome if feral spirit summoned identical clones of you to wolf form with your name on all 3...or add another talent to make this happen like 'wolf pack'. making it just like the treants would be unoriginally boring. players dps'ing not knowing which wolf you are, and your healers getting screwed too, would make that a great creative ability IMO.

omg a 51 point talent where you make a carbon copy duplicate of yourself with a nameplate and everything would be fckin ownage.

This is true, we can't exactly tell so far but it seems a reasonable guess that the Fist proc would be a self-buff rather than a target debuff. By the same token I would assume the Mace proc would be a self-buff for haste rather than haste to everyone hitting the target.
kavekk Jun 13, 2008 at 1:31 pm

Mace - Has a 1%/2%/3%/4%/5% chance to increase your melee haste by 10% for 15 seconds.
It is explicitly stated that the haste buff is to you :P
First - Attacks from your fist weapons have a 1%/2%/3%/4%/5% chance to reduce the armor of your target by 20% for 6 seconds.
Reduce THEIR armour, not increase your armour pen.
It's pretty straightforward.

I guess that is true... given the clunkiness of such mechanics (can't override "more powerful effect") and the ramifications with Warrior tanks wanting to toss Sunders for threat, maybe they will depart from the example of Expose and let them stack?
Good call on the wording, it does seem to point more toward a target debuff rather than self buff. Call me a nub, I still hope it's the opposite =)

So far Shaman talents look very well done. I predict that Resto is going to be good in PvP, and definitely kick major ass in PvE. Ele looks like it could get a gameplay change with lava burst, and that's great as their playstyle hasn't really changed since WoW's release. =P As for Enhancement, it looks like they're buffing up the tree altogether, and the new Shamanistic Rage looks tight (unless you can't use it while being stunned, which would be a subtle kick in the nuts). The weapon specializations look awesome though, especially Fist Specialization for PvP as it'll give Enhancement Shamans more synergy with their other physical dps bretheren.

Enhancement seems to be the least interesting at this point, imo, but I do agree that the Shaman talents "overall" seem to be solid. No massive departures in mechanics, but some good tweaks to existing talents along with synergistic additions.
Enhance definitely seems like they will be quite a powerful melee support with Imp Windfury Totem, Unleashed Rage, and potentially a 20% armor reduction debuff. They can become best friends with DeathKnight, Warrior, and Rogues can be even better buddies now that they can use Windfury totem AND wound/crip poison with some builds.

Before you get your hopes up lets see what the other healing classes get lol... A more dramatic change to totems would be nice.
