Thanks to the Take-Two financial reports released recently The Cut Scene found an interesting bit of information.

"come eeere... I just want to show you my new drill"

I don't think there was any doubt we would see a Bioshock sequel. They
game was loved by many, and certainly had a good chunk of sales. A two
year turn around for a sequel may be quick by some standards, like
Valve and Blizzard, but hopefully things turn out well for a follow up
in this regard.

It seems we have a semi firm date for a follow up to the highly praised Bioshock. Bioschock 2 is set for quarter 4 of 2009. We found out last year that 2K Stuidos had just opened up a new studio for development of the sequel.

Shacknews also has a scoop about all of this; Ken Levine, creator of the first Bioshock, will be on board for the sequel.

Hopefully they'll be able to make an equally good sequel seeing as I found the first one very enjoyable. However, I do think that they'll end up making a "copy" of the first one, with some new weapons and add onto the storyline with some twists and whatnot. This may not be a bad thing seeing how well the first one turned out, but I doubt it'll be as fun playing through it as playing through Bioshock 1 the first time I did.

Out doing the storyline from the first one will certainly be difficult, especially considering the ending.  Plus the whole "newness" factor of the location, and game play will be some what worn off.  It is a tough feat making such a sequel.  Valve pulled it off with Half Life 2, but not everyone is that successful.

i pretty much agree.  i cant see it being better than the first, and a big reason is because that whole atmosphere they created with the 1st one was so new and so well done, that seeing it a 2nd time along the same lines would be been there done that.

i'll still buy it tho regardless.

Graphics requirements are so high already for the first Bioshock, I hope they aren't trying to push even further with this sequel.
