In the video above Rob Pardo VP at Blizzard confirms they are working on another title that happens to be a next generation MMO. He notes "there is still one unknown project..." and those job postings had nothing to do with Diablo III.
Let the rumors continue on. World of Starcraft anyone? That seems more likely that a new totally new franchise as a MMO. You already have so many Starcraft fans so why not take advantage of that audience and the World of Warcraft audience that may enjoy it as well. Since the success of Warcraft II, around 1995 they haven't stepped foot out of the Diablo/Starcraft/Warcraft worlds. Is it time to start on a new franchise?
Maybe they will actually release one of their three current games before announcing the fourth.
Thanks to Shacknews for the scoop.

wow, theyre busy. I would like a new franchise though, would make it interesting and it isnt a bad idea to build an mmo on a new world nobody knows because its far easier to make up lore etc.

I agree completely, Nobbeh. I would love to see the next gen MMO be the launch of a new game world. This will allow them more flexibility to make it exactly how they want and they will not have to worry about catering to fanboys or keeping X customers happy with lore connections to games from 10 years ago.

Just imagine what they would have done with Star Wars Galaxies.
Valve should try to poach that if Blizzard cant. =p

Rofl, CS fans aren't suffering ****. People whine and cry because Valve still isn't updating a 10 year old game, how is that suffering? Source runs fine, move on and adapt.
Valve and Blizzard are easily the best to PC devs out there right now.

all valve has done for cs is never updating glitches and bugs, including retarded things like the riot shield and never updating the game at all. they have the worst customer service anywhere to boot. cs became huge when sierra obviously made the game, valve is wrecking sierra's empire.
blizzard is easily the best pc devs out there, they respond to the community, they listen to feedback and evaluate, they have the best customer service. valve is the complete opposite, they completely ignore the cs community and have the worst customer service. if you cant see this your an idiot.

No offense, but you obviously know nothing about Valve or CS and their relationship with Sierra.
CS was made by Le and Gooseman as a mod. Valve, not Sierra, bought the rights to the game. Sierra is a publisher, not a developer. At the time they were just responsible for shipping, boxing, getting a game in stores. They no longer do that anymore for valve. Sierra had nothing to do with CS other than helping Valve get the retail package in stores. Nice try though.
And like I said, the game is 10 fricking years old, how long are they supposed to update it when its successor is already out? Silly.
You say they don't listen to the community, but when all the pub community *****ed about the awp, what did they do? They nerfed it, like asked. Just because your part of the community isn't listened to doesn't mean they aren't catering to the majority. TF2 regularly sees updates and fixes that the community asks for.
Maybe you are the one who "cant see".

are you retarded, what has valve ever done for cs. source is a failure cus they still dunt listen to the community like i said. everyone hates the game yet they do nthing to make it good. name 1 thing that theyve done for the community? catering to the few idiots on the steam forums that cant handle awp? r u dumb. the majority of the community hated this nerf and yet valve ignored all the feedback they were getting. valve was dead when there was huge outcry to get rid of the riot shield and they still never listened.
valve took over the game and nerfed everything to everyones dismay. they remove all aspects of skill in the game if they had a choice. thats what makes blizzard good. thats what makes id software good. thats why starcraft has lived so long. even after 10 years starcraft still gets updates and fixes. because they listen to the pro players and not the idiots that post on the steam forums. they take feedback from players that matter not to ruin games like valve has done. retard.

Rofl.. you are clearly biased coming from the competitive community *****ing about things that Valve has done to appease the masses.
Look. I played competitive CS for 4 years in CEVO and CAL. I know many of the fixes sucked as for "my type of people". But I also realize they aren't looking to appease those players, they want to appease the general masses that complain about the difficulty, the new people to the game, etc. Believe what you want, but there are FAR MORE of them than there are competitive players. So why should they cater to us?
Valve, goose and le didn't make this game "for pro players". You want to *****, go complain about ProMod. Valve and co made the game for a general gaming audience. "retard". Does saying retard prove my point more? I am not quite sure...
Source is the 2nd most played game on Steam, is about to get national exposure on G4TV via the CGS, it is FAR from a failure. Just because you don't like it, and it doesn't feel like 1.6 doesn't make it a failure.

wow so your definition of listening to the community is not updating the most popular game you have ever and ignoring the fact that everyone complains about the riot shield. your officially an idiot.

You officially are a whinny little douchebag with no business sense what so ever.
Making money and appeasing your customers means you appeal to the majority. Quit being a ****tard and thinking your thoughts and likes are automatically in that segment.
1.6 is ******* 10 years old. How long do they need to appease you? There is no riot shield in source asscock, make the switch. Most leagues ban use of the riot shield anyhow. And any true "Cs player" knows that pub servers are for scrubs.
Pick your poison.

Unless Starcraft Ghost is a MMO, not likely.
They had job postings for a community manager for a MMO, among others. And Pardo just said in the interview it is an MMO. He has no reason to lie.
And they have confirmed Ghost as not in development for some time.

I cannot wait to hear what it is. They have the Midas touch and even their RTS games (I usually hate the RTS genre personally) are fun for me to waste time on. I played custom WC3 maps and did 2v2 skirmishes with my friends throughout my freshman year of college.
ANNOUNCE IT ALREADY OH GOD I HAVE TO KNOW
STARCRAFT MMO WOULD BE FINE PS EVEN THOUGH I DOUBT IT WILL BE A GAME FROM AN EXISTING FRANCHISE
HOW DO I TURN CAPS LOCK OFF SUM1 TELL ME THX

Diablo - 3 factions (angel, human, demon)
Plenty of class material
Plenty of skills and spells
Plenty of lore
Starcraft - 3 factions
lacking class material
lacking skills and abilities
lacking lore
(Except these could be different after SC2 launches)

A couple of months ago, one of my friends got hired as an artist for blizzard, he said he was put on a new game, not d3, sc2, etc, but a new mmo. At the time, he said that is was some sort of racing game, but was still in the drawing boards.
Keep on guessing

PERHAPS A HUMOROUS GAME?
Joking aside, look forward to whatever info the guy has.
I think one of our Blizz friends may be working on it, but he's really hardcore about the NDAs, so there's no way I can find out anything from him. :P

Their NDA's seem to be some the most strict in the biz. There are rarely early leaks on anything from them unless they intend exactly that.

I'm wondering whether or not, after the announcement last year regarding George R R Martins series, 'A Song of Ice and Fire' being turned into an RPG, could this be a follow up MMO of the fantastic Fantasy series?
