Apparently Obama dreads losing his Blackberry. He wants to "break through the isolation and the bubble that exists around the president" and is giving up his phone "is a problem". He fears losing touch with the people by giving up his phone even though there are a ton of security and privacy concerns. This should be a non issue, he knew the rules going in. This must be a part of "change".
The U.S. war on drugs is a failure according to a Washington think tank at the request Mexico's former president. I guess we should just let everyone use whatever they please and cross our fingers in hopes that this "drug problem" goes away and just make money off of taxing it. Um, no. Clearly the tactics in the law enforcement area aren't working however.
December 10, 2008 is "National Day Without a Gay Day". Organizers hope to show the U.S. how rough life will be when people call in "gay", not sick, to protest for gay rights. I imagine this may be cause for some awkward moments the next day at work. Hopefully all the male strippers stick it out and go to work...
Thanks to the success of that **** movie Twilight it seems Joss Whedon may be looking to do a new Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie, this time with Sarah Michelle Gellar and not Kristy Swanson. It seems he ideas down already according to rumors and he just needs the green light from a studio? I think rated R is the best choice and Gellar and Hannigan should make out insuring that I go see this flick.Ars Technica takes a look at the latest tech trends and features that we should be thankful for this Thanksgiving. Props to Left 4 Dead, Intel's Nehalem and the return of net browser wars. All hail The Fox!
This guy has got to be piss ass drunk. Remind me to never play darts if I make my way to the UK for a vacation:

We need a national century without a gay imo. I hate those flamboyent *******. This gay rights movement is a farce. They already have all their rights. Only thing we want to hold on to is marriage but no they can't have that. They won't be happy until we all turn bi or gay to make them feel more accepted. Schools in California are forcing 6 year olds to go on field trips to gay weddings. Crap is disgusting.

wow, thanks for the links. I definitely disagree with such actions as there is no justification for that. Even for a straight marriage...

What's wrong with a school trip to a wedding? I think it's a perfectly fine example of cultural education, weddings are major celebrations in western culture. This type of thing is very good for the community.

It is not a necessary. It certainly doesn't fit within the separation of church and state. If this is allowed, explain to me why creationism isn't being taught in schools?
Where is the line drawn?

A wedding isn't necessarily a religious event, especially in today's society. It's an influential institution and a powerful legal contract, kids should know about marriage. They could take the kids to a buddhist wedding or a magistrate for that matter. Education is education, the only way to truly the separate church and state is to acknowledge the fact that a lot of people have religions and then explain them to the pupils.
Religion should be a subject in school, but it shouldn't compete with other subjects, and it shouldn't be a class limited to the going-ons of Jesus back in the day. Kids should be taught about all the different religions, put christianity on the same line as islam, hinduism, judaism etc. Creationism can and should be taught in schools as it's something that everybody should know about, but in my opinion they should also be taught all the other
mainstream versions of it.
Some finnish elementaries have taken the habit of celebrating all the major religious holidays in class in addition to learning the basic rituals and general information related to said religion. It's been a great success where kids of different ethnicities and religions can share about their culture, thus getting more acceptance in the group through understanding. I reckon it's a brilliant way to integrate immigrants and the religious nuts into the society.
The only bad thing about religion is that people are so damn uptight about it.

I have no problem with creationism being taught in schools as long as it is on equal footing with evolution, etc. But everyone makes a big stink and *****es and fights against it. And if that is the case there is no reason to have class visits to weddings.

You're a ******* moron epakesa. The only type of contractual bond between a person and another person should be a civil union. Marriages are a purely religious ceremony, if you want a marriage go to a church. If you want to be bound by a contract, get a civil union.
Kids should not be forced to accept other cultures or religions. Hell, they shouldn't be taught to accept religion at all. They shouldn't be taught to accept other cultures, or whatever multiculturism bull**** you want to push on people. Public Schools should be strictly instruments of education. Nothing more. We don't need to expand the school years any longer when there's so much time wasted learning nothing. People want ideologies to all be equal and equally accepted. Nope, wrong. Ideas are better than each other.
If you desire to have religion taught in school, go to a private school. If you want multiple religions taught, and multiculturism, etc and all your politicially correct garbage open up a school yourself for that purpose.

It's not about multiculturalism or anything like that, I'd be damned if anyone tried to push their silly habits on me. It's about http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_knowledge
It's not about making everyone seem equal, it's about facts. You're not praising Buddha or something like that, you're just stating the facts and letting them make their own mind up about it. Learning to think for yourself is probably the most important lesson of all.
Marriages are a contractual bond just the same as civil unions are, moron.

And, they shouldn't be is what I'm saying. Reading comprehension is hard.Â
Also, marriages ARE RELIGIOUS CEREMONIES. A civil union is a contract that links you to another person, that's all. If you want your religiou ceremony go to a church. Keep it out of the state and schools.

Well said. Public schools have a hard enough time just getting through the basics of educating in key subjects, we don't need to teach them about multiculturalism, marriages, gay acceptance, etc. That stuff is for the home.

The education system doesn't teach people **** except obediance anyway. The infomation you learn aside from basic maths and english is pretty much wrong or it takes like an hour to learn and they spend a year teaching it to you.
If you took away from learning that obediance is more important than education there would be more than enough time to learn everything you do in school.
Also for alot of people who get married it isn't a religious thing, for some people it is for sure, but for lots it isn't.

Education is a moderate form of brain washing and obediance.
I know getting married isn't a religious thing for some people, they get it so they're bound by contract in the eyes of the state. It shouldn't be like that is what I'm saying.Â

sometimes i wonder if americans have ever heard of policies in the rest of the world. Maybe it's because almost none of you have a passport and your media is nationalist garbage. Countries with more liberal approaches to drugs have fewer drug problems. This is SUCH an established fact that you will struggle to find anyone here who actually agrees with the war on drugs, even the most die-hard conservatives. It is a huge waste of time, directs money to terrorists and creates a black market. You are almost as deluded as the americans who think giving everyone guns will reduce crime.
