Epic Drop 11/4/09: Election night, AT&T sues VZW, Abused 4yr old, UHDTV, ATI 5970, Return of KAHN!?

Verizon is being sued by AT&T over the "There's a map for that" ads which portray the home of the iPhone in an unpleasing manner with its terrible 3G coverage.  AT&T claims that Verizon's ad is misleading even though it clearly states the comparison is about 3G.  They note that some of Verizon's blank area's are where there is no service while some of AT&T's blank areas have voice/data but not 3G.  To this I say "who cares".  Not even the iGodPhone is enough to make me switch to AT&T's crap network.  In fact I will probably be extending my Verizon deal for another year and pick up the Droid this week or next.

Were last night's elections bad Mr. Obama?  John Dickerson at Slate seems to think so and a lot of media in general and not just the right-leaning.  The big issue isn't so much Republican wins by the fact that independents are moving fast towards the Republican side of things unlike the last election.   It certainly isn't something concrete for 3 years from now but it could be big news for the mid-term congressional elections next year.

A couple sexual abused their 4-year-old girl and streamed it live on the internet to other pedophiles.  What in the hell is wrong with people?  Cases like this make me wish we didn't ban cruel and unusual punishment as these people are surely deserving.  Even Verdak days aren't harsh enough.

HDTV is finally becoming mainstream and within the next 5-10 years Ultra HDTV will be a viable option for some consumers.  7680 x 4320, ya, that should only take about 20 years before that is a TV broadcast standard.  22.2 channel sound?  Does that include a sub attached to your ass for ultimate fidelity? 

AMD/ATI's 5970 (formerly the 5870x2) has been leaked in the form of pictures though specs still haven't been confirmed.  The card is expected to be 13.5 inches long and that means you can't penetrate any old case with this massive member.  It should be out this month and will easily be the fastest card out.

Kahn, the return of Kahn?  J.J. Abrams isn't ruling out the return of one of Star Trek's most loved villains.  While Kahn may have been a better movie I prefer the Borg as a villain.  I don't know if they should go with Kahn quite yet.  Just focus on their own thing for a while and not try to re-do the old movies too much. 

Steven Colbert and the Colbert Nation are now supporters of U.S.A. Speedskating.  The U.S. lost a massive sponsor recently and Colbert heard about it and wanted to help them out.  He brought in Dan Jansen and told him that the Colbert Nation and Steven himself would help sponsor the team through fan donations.  Awesome move by Steven.  Speedskating of all things and he is there is to lend a hand.


Stick around for the second half of this one, it does pick up for a hell of a knock out.  Can someone explain to me why girls always have to get involved in this ****?  I see it almost every couple of weekends out and about and half of the time they end up getting hurt from tossing themselves in the mix like idiots.
