Gay marriage was denied once again, this time in Maine. It has been defeated 31 times in 31 states every time it has been put up for a popular vote. Seems maybe the country is more conservative then they like to admit? Interestingly there was a proposal here in a near bye city that passed banning bars from discriminating based on sexual orientation. I don't get down that way often but I guess I didn't realize it was that big of an issue in the college town of Western Michigan University.
I kind of laughed with Vir yesterday about "V" being kind of a tongue-in-cheek look at our current political climate. Interestingly enough someone took the time to write about it and addressed some of those same aspects. I don't see this as being some form of propaganda or anything though much of it is probably coincidence. It was a good watch however and the top rated show of the fall with a 5.2.
![]() I don't know what Miss Bilson is doing here but I like it. More at Hollywood Tuna |
A Carrie Prejean sex tape where she is "alone" in the video? The male in me says I am definitely interested. Rumors are swirling that such a thing exists and hence the reasoning behind her recent settlement of a lawsuit against the pageant. /b/ I am counting on you guys...
The MPAA wants a three strikes rule instated here in the states for pirating movies and Comcast is working on a new "throttling plan". Everyone wants to make it hard to be a pirate now days. If you use "more than 70 per cent of your maximum downstream or upstream bandwidth for more than 15 minutes" the first trigger to throttle your account will be triggered. Really now? Does that mean my cost of internet is going to drop 30% in return? I can't believe they are selling you a pipe that you can only use 70% of for less than 15 minutes.
Kick-Ass, the little-indy-movie-that-could is giving off an early vibe that is very impressive. A test screening review is up over at AICN and apparently "it is ******* awesome!!!" I am glad Lionsgate picked this up as big distributor is pretty much the only way to go now days unless you pull off a miracle like Paranormal Activity.
60+ times they told this guy to get back in the car. I kind of see it being his own fault though they did pull a gun on him which probably scared him ****less. He was found not guilty of resisting arrest however so I am curious to see how the Federal lawsuit goes. Story here
This one is short and sweet. This guy was surely out of control, glad they put him down...
And the poll is closed for November's Friday girl and Keeley has won, 200 votes to Alba's 180. Good thing too, I was almost just going to pick Keeley for December.

Won't be long before TMZ makes her famous forever and rich from all the publicity. Plus she gets to keep the proceeds from the book. Pretty sweet deal for leaving that stupid pageant imo.

It seems the MPAA is aiming at torrents with that new three strikes rule. That said, more and more people are switching to a premium rapidshare account + a decent Warez forum (Warez-BB). With a decent connection you can download anything in less than 10 minutes, and you don't waste bandwidth on upload.

Since being conservative correlates with low intelligence (not only in the US, but around the world), let's see if we can find any reason for that...

Srsly, if we keep this up.. we American's will be as dumb as the Germans! We better put a stop to it...
His point wasn't about conservatism, he implied that the less intelligent the populace, the easier they are to rule. That is about it. Which only truly favors a statist (liberal) if you understand the statist philosophy that is. TRUE conservative philosophy favors the individual...
I think the most amusing part of posting this is that you are actually making fun of yourself, because you are more 'ruled' in Germany than we Americans (at least for now). So... nice one.
His only link to conservatism was the use of the words "God", "War", and "Rich" So, quite a stretch there Dub, even for you.

You see, its like men v women comparison. Average IQ is about the same, but they differ in distribution. The most intelligent (and most stupid) people on a planet are males - it probably derives from having two different chromosomes. Women are just average. Same goes with conservatives v democrats - demos are average.

I had to check, I wasn't sure if I missed something on that story. I looked for a link but there wasn't one, I asked.
It's okay Vir, I won't cry because of the downvote.

I am still confused on this one. Why does the video start right before he gets hit. What happened to the previous 15min of footage or whatever that captures the start of whatever is going on.
Seeing how the Officer struck the guy from behind I have to assume there was a good reason. For if I was going to intentionally inflict an ass whooping on a guy because he was being a jackass or w/e reason, id hit him from the front, and knock his ass over, and hit him again and again and again.
It looks to me like he was trying to knock him out fast, not hurt him for the sake of hurting him.

So after attempting to get him to cuff, the cop walked back like he was going to try again and instead stun gunned the guy to the ground to get him to cuff.
Or the cop is a jack ass and just stunned that guy because he was pissed at him and wanted to beat his ass...either could be true, heh.

The whole gay marriage thing is such a facepalmfest in the US. I love the way every single time this comes up the side against it is always saying "THEY'LL TEACH HOMOSEXUALITY IN SCHOOOOOOLLLLLLLSSSSSSSSSSSSSS AND YOUR CHILDREN WILL BE GAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY".
It's fairly sad really. The most laughable thing is that many people want the government to pull out of the issue of marriage entirely - which would legalise gay marriage! I'm pretty sure this will be looked back at in 50 years as one of those embarassments.

That getting rid of Marriage done by the Government is a good idea. It is a win for both sides. Gays are not getting state sponsored marriage, yet they are not getting left out of it either.
Most of the opposition against Gay Marriage is because of religion; so maybe instead of creating equality by creating gay marriage, we create equality, by removing marriage, and everyone just gets a civil union if they want to be bound together under the law. Then they can go to whatever church they want to for whatever crazy stupid ceremony they want to have.

no issue with that, the state shouldn't be in the business of marriage. allow everyone civil unions and allow churches to do marriages at their will
