Tim Tebow may not make waves in the NFL but he might over Super Bowl weekend. Tebow and his mother will appear in a Focus on the Family ad Super Bowl day that will “Celebrate Family, Celebrate Life", aka a pro-life commercial that surely didn't come cheap at $2.5 million plus. I can't really fault the guy for standing up for his beliefs but I am betting this isn't the kind of attention he was hoping for right now. I don't see this winning any "best commercial" awards but it would be ironic if it ran right after a Go Daddy ad.
The NFL may bring its RedZone channel to mobile phones next season. If you haven't watched it on cable/satellite it is pretty sweet. The channel cuts to any game where a team is in the red zone allowing you to rarely miss scores of any NFL game minus crappy distant field goals. Great idea for Sundays on the go. I try to schedule things around Bears games but I probably won't be too concerned about that next year.

Apple unveiled the iPad today to the tech world's delight. Typical of most Apple hardware it seems to focus on style over substance. It looks great and I wouldn't mind toying around on one but there is no way in hell I would buy one. The damn thing doesn't even have multitasking! ITS 2010! Operating systems have had multitasking for 20+ years! Did they not learn anything from the iPhone? There is no reason for it to not have multitasking. Anyhow check it out over at Engadget.
Ebay still sucks and I continue to sell on it, serves me right. Anyhow they are now raising their prices for listings started at .99 yet they are disguising it as a price drop. While .99 cent auctions can now be listed for free Ebay takes a bigger percent of the final sale price. The Consumerist didn't really do their research here and touted it as a nice price drop. Ya, sort of. I really need to start selling more of my crap on Craigslist.
Early screening reviews of Ridley Scott's Robin Hood are leaking to the press. AICN has one positive and one negative. I am not impressed with the idea that this may be a PG-13 film. This needs to be a brutality-filled spectacle like Gladiator. Hopefully this is changed before the movie drops.
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has announced the full roster of the Avengers for the eventual movie. Iron Man, Thor and Captain America and the Hulk eventually it seems. Nick Fury will also play a role. The way he phrases the Hulk comment makes me think they will do the "fight Hulk early on, befriend him and join to fight evil villain later on" concept that has been used in the comics. A smaller roster should make for a better flick but I hope we get some cameo appearances of other members.
ROFL, this is slightly NSFW but not that bad I promise. I laughed though, everything came together in this for the perfect storm.

Tell me you are watching this incredibly hilarious and ironic speech. Capital gains, nuclear power, offshore drilling? Good stuff here...

yeah, I think we're all a bit fed up with the lies from Obama and the rest of the capitol hill gang.
I loved how the audience starts an uproar of applause for offshore drilling, nuclear energy... considering they all voted against it.
Such crap as always, saying one thing and doing another.
Why don't we have people that actually have run a successful business run the government instead of these lawyers and professors.

I really don't like FailBlog, feels so cheap with them just putting the word FAIL everywhere, kind of diminishes the word and makes it sound disgustingly mainstream/commercial/cheap.
While I'm on page1; this is amazing.

They basically rip their movies from everywhere else anyhow, for the most part. It just makes it easier to find said videos, kind of like Break and Failblog are the Digg/Reddit of video.
I almost posted that ninja hand video yesterday but goose v. dog won me over.

iPad looks fun, but I seriously can't find any practical use for it. If you have a computer/the internet this this is useless.

I haven't read completely up on it yet but I haven't seen much even my Droid can't do that this can other than being massively bulky and having a big screen.
I would never trade a solid laptop around the same price for something like this.

Yeah I totally agree. It does nothing innovative. It's basically like a big iPhone that can't make calls.

But it's got the "iTag" so millions of people are going to buy it, regardless of how dumb it is.

Yes, but it took apple forever to get multitasking right on the mac.
Up until OS X (2001), Macs were still using cooperative multitasking,
which pretty much sucks. Windows dropped cooperative multitasking in
1995.

TLDR: Apple has a history of sucking at multitasking.

said it before, say it again, first avengers movie should be the first ultimate's book, perhaps with the wasp and pym cut out. the stuff in that interview does sound very promising.
the internet seems to have jumped on a ipad hatin bandwagon. i could see it being useful as a (overpriced, but what apple product isn't) mobile reader, or for coffee table internet access. does no multitasking include itunes? thats the only thing i'd want to run with something else tbh.
can't see myself buying one tbh, not least not until the 1st update comes along a year later with a video camera.

The ultimates book would be fantastic, problem is that it would surely be rated R to be quality and there is no way this movie is ever rated R. =/

I like what the iPad has the capability (movies/newspapers/books, easy to travel with) to do, but unlike others, I don't have a phone that does everythinng. Mine's is a 6 year old pos good only for making phone calls and as an alarm cloak. I w as hoping that the iPad would be more Courier esque, but eh, it's basically an Apple iPhone-netbook. I want a tablet that doesn't suck please, why is this so hard.
Reason why for a Courier type of thing, the idea of being able to write, with a pen or pen substitute, all over a book and then save/recall those notes while keeping the pages clean is just be awesome. You could kind of do that with a Word or Adobe file, but it just doesn't have the flow of being able to do it by hand with a writing instrument. Tablets are prime for this, but they just haven't had the software, and just feel like they're made with crappy materials. (I'm probably totally wrong on the software point.)

If you want a good / useful Tablet, wait for the Microsoft Courier to be unveiled

Pretty much. I don't have a lot of trust in Microsoft's ability to follow through on their research work though. Sure they demo some great stuff, but good god does it take them forever to actually bring it to market (if they even bring it to market!). Waiting on Natal & WinMo 7 before even thinking about Courier, really.

Concept of tablet pcs is pretty awesome, but its been always done so crappy and poorly.
Apple has the potential, to make it a good tool, but as always, they first come up with
epic fail drawbacks.. I could imagine it beeing awesome at the 2nd update or an ipad "s".
It reminds of the iphone, that came along without any kind of copy&paste and other incredible drawbacks (that were totally unnecessary).
The 3gs and the current firmware finally covers almost all needs, and makes it the best mobile phone up to date for me.

******* apple. If they spent half the time developing their software as they did making their hardware look snooty they would be miles ahead of everyone.

Exactly. They are marking money so they don't care it seems. I guess I can't blame them. But the quality hardware (albeit always overpriced) and the flashiness is always leaps and bounds ahead of their software.
Say what you want about MS, I've *****ed about them in the past myself, but they know software. Office, Windows, Zune and WMP, are great examples of quality software that Apple should learn from.

The next gen will most likely have the gyro added so you can turn the hardware in wide screen format. Apple is so lame at rushing out products so people will be forced to buy multiple Apple products that do the same thing only with improved features. iPOD being the major example, did you hear the nano has camera now OMG. **** apple.
