Final Fantasy XIII Gets a Date

No Snow and Lighting aren't planning a night out on the town full of fine cuisine, hot tubs and industrial-sized lube.  What we do have instead however is a release date in Japan for Final Fantasy XIII. 

News leaked out over the weekend via an ad on Youtube and confirmation came early this morning during a Square Enix press conference that December 17th, 2009 is in fact the release date of FFXIII.  What does that mean for a North America release?  Your guess is as good as mine though they confirmed they are shooting for a Spring release date over this way.  I was hoping for March, but with God of War III coming then maybe April/May wouldn't be all that bad.

There is also a new trailer that showed up and Kotaku has the summary.  Unfortunately unless a bootleg appears online we probably won't get to see it until the Tokyo Game Show.  Apparently some Square staffers haven't even see the trailer yet as it is brand spanking new. 

Square has promised faster turn-arounds when it comes to international versions of the series in the future but I will believe that when I see it.  Generally its like six to eight months if I am not mistake but I am too lazy to hit up Wiki and confirm this.  ;]  Thus a December to Spring may be a bit faster than their usual effort.

This will be an instant pre-order for me, much like God of War III.  I don't care about reviews, both of these series are pretty much must buys for me.
