1. NO SPAMMING do not post blogs more than once every ten minutes.
2. NO PERSONAL ATTACKS on other GameRiot users. Game based **** talk is fine and even expected and encouraged. But keep it about the *player*, not the person. And under no circumstances will the posting of anyone's real life address or other personal information be permitted.
3. DO NOT copy and paste full text articles. If you copy a portion of someone else's article (even if its just a sentence) be sure to cite your source and include commentary of your own. Link to your sources.
4. NO RACIAL SLURS
5. DO NOT conduct your e-commerce on GameRiot. This includes but is not limited to advertising products, account/key selling, and peddling penis enlargement.
6. YOU MUST put *NSFW* in the headline of your article if it contains nudity or otherwise pornographic content. Blogs containing pornographic pictures or video must use link format rather than viewable format, and must relate - in some way - to video games. GameRiot is not a porn site. No PornRiot is currently planned.
----
These rules would apply especially to the creation of blogs but it would be common sense for users to consider them before commenting as well. The point of these rules is simple: Maintain GameRiot as a *gaming site* first and foremost. You'll notice everything listed above prevents non-gaming related topics and the hijacking of game related topics.
Politics, Religion, and World Events are getting a pass right now because A) users seem to want to discuss them and B) there hasn't been an excess of hate mongering. If either A and B cease to be the case then the rules may change to reflect that.
The GameRiot staff feels the above rules clear the most useless content and prevent the greatest amount of pointless bickering without infringing too heavily on the creativity and freedom of our users.
That said, this is your chance to give feedback.

Porn, Racism and all the other stupid **** is just as bad as keylogging.
The damage may not be readily apparent but it hurts the image of the website and thats something that can, sometimes, never be repaired.
You can talk all you want about freedom of speech, blah blah blah, but it doesn't work that way on the internet. Just look at the WoW forums vs. Elitistjerks.com. You can post just about anything anywhere on the WoW forums but it has led to it becoming a cesspool of useless bull**** which most veterans in their right minds would avoid. Conversely, Elitist Jerks have some of the strictest forum rules and regulations ANYWHERE, but the result is they flourish with some of THE best WoW related content and discussions anywhere on the internet, and anyone who goes in there knows they don't have to worry about spam or general stupidity while perusing their website.
Quality control is key and the ones doing said quality control are the only ones who determine the future of the site.
So I guess what I'm trying to say is, thank you for this rule set, I think it does a good job balancing creative freedom with necessary boundaries. I hope these are enforced logically but firmly.
And hey, if you need help I can always help moderate

I think it's a good thing that a good portion of the gaming community cares about politics and world events. That is a good thing, not a bad thing and it should be encouraged.
Also decisions elected politicians make can seriously effect online gaming in the very near future.

You might want to do something about "one-liner" blogs. Blogs should contain, you know... at least one paragraph.
Maybe...
Maybe...

Ah, I think some slipped through the cracks. Or maybe it's the case that I just troll gameriot too much and see some before they get deleted. :P
