After being outdone by Rock Band in the whole music play along game front it seems Activision may not be sitting on their hands with their next version of Guitar Hero.

Talking to Conde Nast Portfolio magazine via IGN, Activision's CEO mentioned they will be including other instruments and vocals as well.  Sounds a lot like Rock Band eh?  They are also planning on letting gamers play along with local bands and local content.

I am not quite sure how this whole "local" thing is going to work out but it sounds interesting.  Activision didn't really give any other details as far as instruments are concerned, but would they really just come out and copy Rock Band?

Hopefully we get more details later on.

Who cares if they bite the style in terms of more instruments.  I think that when they do add the new ones you'll find them much harder and more fulfilling than the Rock Band songs.  In general those Rock Band songs are petty damn easy.  The drum parts are by far the hardest.

We'll see how their implementation is.

This could be huge for local bands to get their music and names out to the masses.

This could be good and bad at the same time.

actually it works pretty well.  I thought the same as you did till I saw it in action.  It is pretty consistent.

Yeah you dont have to be 100% on key, but you just have to be able to sound in pitch really. On expert tho it can get pretty effing intense.

Also on rockband you can hook up the microphone to your ear so you can play guitar and sing or drums and sing. Pretty slick imo.

Didnt someone else do this to another big company when thier system got outplayed by a kiddie machine? Ooooh yeah, Sony is trying to do this to Nintendo by making a slew of games and a remote that senses movement.

Im gonna go make a Operating System thats identical to windows, only im gonna change the window icon to a door and call it Doors so nobody can sue my nuts off.
