I don't think I have ever seen a string of success like this since EA was in their prime pissing people off weekly.  Somehow Infinity Ward has taken one of the most anticipated game launches of the year and managed to drop a deuce all over it forcing a lot of people to question how much **** they want to put up with to play the game.

I question if it is possible to botch a release of a game that is pretty much assured of being a massive success.  There is little doubt in my mind that the game will be one of the top selling titles of the year across all platforms as the game is one of the few highly anticipated FPS titles of the year and it is a sequel to the much-loved Modern Warfare.

Let us look at the recent onslaught of screw-ups in just the past could of weeks in relation to Modern Warfare 2:
  • Removal of PC dedicated servers
  • The "kill innocents as a terrorist video"
  • "F.A.G.S. and *******", the anti-grenade spam clip
  • Preventing XBL users from using party chat in various multiplayer modes
  • Locking mulitiplayer in at 9v9 on the PC
What is next?  Some hidden form of DRM on the PC that will send gamers to IW headquarters trampling staff in protest?  Maybe the rumors of charging for online play will come true causing our heads to explode in bewilderment.

I am half laughing about this as it almost seems like a test in regards to the game's hype and the communities overall desire to buy and play it.  Had other lesser titles or developers done all the above in the "airing of grievances" I have a feeling it would affect their bottom line when it comes to sales and profits.  Will it effect this game?  I think the effect will be minimal.

For some reason it seems Infinity Ward is testing how far they can push everyone by molding the game in their image and not that of their prospective buyers who will actually buy the game.  That to me is a bit disheartening considering the fans invested in these games and that have supported the developers over the long haul.

The reality is where would Infinity Ward be without the adoration and support from their customers?  They would probably be worse off than Treyarch as the latter wouldn't have IW's success to leech off of.  Yet at this point they don't seem to give a damn about all the negative feedback they are receiving.

Infinity Ward has laid down the gauntlet for potential customers and fans.  Are you going to support their actions from this point forward or will the buck literally stop here and you spend your dollars elsewhere?  Voice your opinions accordingly.

I wont be getting this, CoD4 ruined the series for me, however, I find that 9v9 limitation to be one of the few redeeming qualities about the game. I am so sick of these massive 32+ servers, where its a whole lot of random spray/grenades. Playing SnD or HQ with 32 people on the server is a joke, when it just becomes a hail of grenades and 10 people camping 1 choke point.
