The most amusing news of the day so far was made by the highly amusing Jack Thompson. Game Politics is reporting news of Jack's letter to Sarah Palin to recruit her into his war on gaming. Not content to sit on his ass and enjoy retirement after being disbarred a couple of weeks ago, Jack has now stepped up his game chasing after potential future Vice Presidents.In his letter Jack attempts to bring Palin into the mix in his quest to force a federal law outright banning the sale of adult video games to minors. He states:
The McCain-Palin campaign, with all respect, is missing the boat on this issue. I strongly urge your campaign to tell American parents that if elected you will present to Congress a bill that prevents the sale of adult games to kids while fully protecting the First Amendment. I have this crucial, constitutional legislation drafted and ready to go. You will see voters flock to your proposal. The American entertainment industry’s assault upon our children and our values must stop, and you are the person to stop it.
The scary thing is that this is something I could actually see Palin getting behind, were Jack Thompson not a near leper right now and the last thing you would want associated with your campaign. This isn't the worst thing he has tried bringing to the forefront, that is one plus. In reality I doubt few of us would disagree with the need to stop minors from buying adult game content, even if retailers are doing better with games than movies and music thanks to the ESRB breathing down their necks.
The only problem is, well, it's Jack. And the way he goes about everything makes come off as a complete tool. There is no happy medium with him, it is his way or the highway (more often the highway for him).
Palin and Jack, there are bound to plently of porn parody titles for this duo...
On top of that he seems to be "online" today at GP. Game Politics' general loathing of all this Jack has made him a reader of the site. Dennis at Game Politics references him over ad revenue so it may very be him. He is either a fantastic troll with some inside knowledge to some of Jack's plans or he could be the real deal. Look for him posting under "Jack Thompson Attorney and You Are Not".

I agree with you. Adult games (18+) shouldn't be sold to minors (people not 18+) hopefully Jack Thompson will stop all the parents who buy inapprioriate games for their 9 year old jimmy with no clue what actually happens or is in the game.

Using the verb "recruits" in your headlins is ridiculous, as it implies the "recruited" party has actually joined forces with the recruiter. You should use a more one-sided verb like "stalk" or "harass".

How you been anyway Godsmak? I am depressed this week because the Kimbo Slice fiasco has hurt one of my favorite sports to badly. We've lost like 10 years of hard-fought progress for MMA due to this garbage.

lol how has Kimbo being beaten and exposed by a LHW through a JAB ruin MMA? I think what EliteXC is doing is completely stupid and only for short-term business and MMA exposure, so I guess I see what you're saying, but **** Kimbo, guy is big, strong and black and beat up scrubs on the street. He got exposed by a LHW Karate ****** (Seth is actually gay lol).

Just because you get "recruited" doesn't necessarily mean you join. Military and sports recruits often don't join prospective recruiters.
And yes, kimbo is trash. Just wait till Brock smashes Couture, then the whole world of MMA may collapse.

What I mean is that, this was one of the rare opportunities for MMA to break through or regular television to a huge audience. And instead of having legitimate fights, they have Kimbo, and the broadcast touts him as a champion, and a supposed top dog in MMA. Average viewer, who knows nothing about the sport, believes this, and then is like ... "wtf? This sport is a joke." It reinforces the idea that MMA fighters are just "crazy dudes who like to fight in bars and stuff" and not really a legitimate sport. It's like trying to sell the NFL to people in Europe by showing them tapes of bad high school football games... you just dig yourself further and further into a hole.

The amusing thing is, both of the affliction fighters on the undercard were multiple times better than Kimbo. Arlovski is a top HW in the world right now and you would have thought he was chopped liver on that broadcast.
Here they had talent like that on their show, regardless if it was afflictions, and they didn't hype it at all.
