Thanks to the ESRB website we can see the beloved 2D fighter is on the way to two new consoles. If Capcom is using the SSF2HDRemix beta tests to get their netcode right for that game and Street Fighter 4, it seems there is little reason it couldn't be used for MvC2.Â
This would seemingly be a digital release over PSN and XBLA as the game has been out on other systems and would probably fit fine under the download size standards.
56 fighters from the Capcom and Marvel world, probable online play and possible HD graphics? Sign me up!
The rebirth of the fighter is a definite reality.

MvC2 is sick, the amount of skill and reflexes for that game is mind blowing.   My buddy used to be super good at that game comparable to jwong or w/e ... THE KUANTINEL!!

By far the best fighting game IMO. My buddy and I would smoke some bowls, listen to good music, and just ******* go at it for hours. Then his game got scratched and stopped at the stage loading screen!!
I will buy instantly if true.

Sweet, super scrub fighter! Â They'll get my 9.95.
I'd love to see Alpha 2 make it to X-Box 360.

I would probably buy a direct port. If it has online play, which it should, this is a must buy. If it has HD graphics ala the SSF2 remake I will probably be setting my PS3 and logging in to PSN over and over the day it is due out. =p

Yeah no online play = I wouldn't buy it.
HD graphics would be really sweet.

You can play alpha 2 online with ggpo last time I checked. No HD graphics obviously but graphics aren't exactly what I look for when I think 2d fighter =P
ps ggpo = no lag at all

Ive heard and read a bit about GGPO, is it really that impressive? What games are supported?
The coders from GGPO were apparently working with Capcom for SSF2THD and SF4 netcode wise.

Its the only time I've seen a game played over the internet with absolutely zero lag. Its like the person you're playing is right next to you.
The games its supports are:
Dungeons and Dragons: Shadow over Mystara
Garou: Mark of the Wolves
The King of Fighters 2002
The King of Fighters '98
Marvel vs. Capcom
Samurai Shodown 2
Street Fighter Alpha 2
Street Fighter Alpha 3
Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike
Super Street Fighter II: Turbo
Vampire Savior
X-Men vs. Street Fighter
And you're right slapnuts, Capcom actually licensed GGPO for HD Remix and SFIV, which is really great because having to worry about lag delay/input lag would kill any point to playing either game online in a competitive manner.

very cool. looking on the site, is there anywhere you can get a behind the scenes on the tech and how it works? Or is it all hush hush?
How exactly do you go about playing those games over GGPO?

I'm not too sure as far as how things work tech wise, but as far as playing the game goes you can look in the download section for instructions, and http://ggpo.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1001 for the faq thread. In the faq thread are the exact rom versions you need to play. If google fails you when looking for those, take a look at pantsemulation.com

hrm, so the emulator app doesn't matter, just the rom version? or gppo function as it is on emulator?

I'm all over this **** when it comes out. This will be a PS3 buy for sure, I'll probably never buy a fighting game for the 360. I'll get owned all day long but I still love playing it.

I'd rather scrub my balls with steel wool than use that POS 360 dpad for a fighting game. =/
I didn't play this much as I never had a chance to pick it up, just played a bit of the DC version and loved it.

I have this game for Dreamcast
 Haha - so old
Shouldn't they come out with a new game itself? Like marvel versus capcom 3?

why mess with a good thing?Â
They are rereleasing street fighter 2, and this is probably one of the more loved game series since that title so I don't see why a rerelease is a bad idea. Online play would definitely be a huge bonus.

capcom doesn't have the marvel license anymore, which would make a sequel or even a remake highly unlikely.

it actually looks like the ball is in capcoms court in that regard. marvel has apparently had some nice things to say about capcom recently so.. i guess it is plausible.

So this is basically a $$$ scheme to resell exact old game copies and not do any new innovation at all.

online play is innovative for that game, no?
For $10, I dont see the issue, considering the game still sells for $80-100. Toss in possible HD graphics and it is definitely worth it. Some classic games are worth it imho, this, SSF2, Goldeneye, stuff like that. Castlevania Symphony of Night as well.

Love this game. I also like the fact that out of 56 characters maybe 10 are actually viable for high-level play. Makes WoW class balance look like Starcraft in comparison.
