Quick post before I head off and fall asleep to The Wire. I was reading around the net today and came across this forum which pretty much validated the thoughts I had when Vir first posted the idea of Sarah Palin a week or two back. Many women and particularly Hillary backers are going to love this choice by McCain.Â
Here is a sampling of some of the absurd comments. I realize this is just is just a small snippet of the online community but it does give you some perspective on why McCain made the choice:
"HOPE ITS PALIN, I WOULD VOTE TWICE JUST TO STICK IT TO OBAMA"
"Hoo Ray! Fu*k the DNC. Fu*k Obama. They are so fu*k up.  They brushed off the women base like dirt. and the GOP pick them up. Go McCain. Go GO OG !"
"Leave it to the GOP to pick a woman for the ticket. Obama snubbed the most viable and experienced woman who received 18 million votes, for another MALE. I have a feeling, somewhere somehow, Hillary is snickering!"
"I AM SO EXCITED, I'M HEADING TO ALASKA, YES YES YES YES YES. VOLUNTEER, I'M IN, I'M READY,DONATE, TIME, WHATEVER, MY VOTE GOES TO MCCAIN/PALIN ALL THE WAY, I'M RUNNING BACK AND FORTH, CANNOT SIT DOWN, I'M CLIMBING THE WALLS"
Personally I am voting Libertarian regardless. But I have a feeling McCain just made one hell of a move with this choice which will grab many Hillary supporters who feel slighted and possibly many of those middle of the road women. Sure this won't wrap up many of those "woman's rights" folk with the anti-abortion stance Sarah has, but I think the positives far outweigh the negatives.
It does crack me up to see these supposed Democrats feeling this disenfranchised that they would vote for the other party just over a woman...

Remove "voting on skin colour/sex" and your statement is just as true.

i believe Palin will be a very good VP nomination because she has had plenty of experience being the governor of Alaska for 2 whole years now.

made even more embarassing by the fact that half of mccain's strategy has been repeating that obama lacks experience over and over and over

As if his extremely long time in the senate is so valuable compared to being a Governor.

ROFL, I agree, its Alaska man, like governing a nursery. Main problem- keeping those bears away.

this was the worst possible choice mccain could've made, a few dumbasses ranting on forums isn't going to change that

Well she definitely has that cool Alaskan, not afraid to get her hands dirty, good old fashioned Reagan Republican, feel going. And it should help to convince people that the Republican party aren't the sexist KKK members hollywood protrays them as. Hopefully we can get a lot of women in this country to start taking a look at libertarian ideals as well like small government and common sense. God knows we need it.
Let's just hope we don't find some crazy ass skeletons in her closet like the creationism thing. Man, I wish iraq hussein osama picked what's his face. That Southern democrat who just admited he had an affair while running for President. He ran with kerry for Vice President and people were talking about iraq osama choosing him as well. That would have totally ruined the reputation of the democratic party for years. Oh well. Too bad.

Her Downs baby is actually her daughters from an Inuit poolboy.
I'm so glad iraq hussein osama didn't choose Edwards. We can't have a guy running for president who cheats on his wife because of a medical condition and then leaves her for a beer heiress that's 30 years younger. wat

I think the day yanks realise that personal issues have no bearing on the skill of a leader is the day they are capable of electing a proper president. Honestly your democracy should be taken away and leaders should be voted by top universities because the vast majority of you are incompetent voters.

I say the same thing to those that believe mccain's ties to bush, or obamas lack of experience are really going to factor in to how capable they are of leading.

Christianity is not a bad thing. One problem is that she's pro-life. Never understood why women would fight to take their rights away. If she gets raped and pregnant we'll she where she stands.

america is 90% christian and therefore 90% stupid. Makes sense to get a christian retard for running mate. No one would vote for an intelligent and informed atheist.

It's only a part of the problem though. The whole political process, the media, the lobbyists .. it's all majorly screwed up. Not only in the US. It is insulting at times. Well, most of the time anyway.

I think it is a very good choice. Especially now that Obama didn't pick a woman he will have picked a woman just to make the contrast and a lot of people will vote form him because of that.

if mccain wins I am going to shoot myself. This war has destroyed the economy and he is wanting more of the same. I am facing forclosure because my house can't sell because the housing market is falling more and more every year, and the dollar continues to fall in value as well and financial analysts say that major banks are going to start falling, and that is when **** is going to hit the fan.Â
Did you know that we spend enough money on the war every year to feed the world for ten years?
and that is debt the current legislations children, aka us will have to pay off for the rest of our life, and wouldn't be suprised to see them cut social security soon too.
Was eight years of bush not enough, do we need to see our economy plummet more, our health care fall past our number 20 spot we are at now, and lose even more international support.Â
IF anyone decides there vote based on male or woman, or race or party without hearing each party's arguement's first they are just plain ingnorant. Anyone who decides the will vote one way or the other regardless has no right voting in my oppinion.

I dont buy this whole Obama is the answer because he is new and different, or that McCain is just more Bush. These are all subjective opinions and unless you guys have Delorians sitting in your garage it is a stretch.
over half of what all these politicians state to get elected turn out to be bull**** any how and dont even get close to being accomplished.

Our answer is Independents succeeding from the union and making our own state. Maybe take over Canada and not let celebrity type candidates with no experience, old people that are going to dye soon, and make bad choices due to fatigue and old age with a vice president that runs a hick state. Maybe we just need Biden?

Just emigrate to canada or europe. The usa is not going to change. If you are frustrated with the system then there are plenty of better places to live based on parliamentary democracy.

The war is not the reason the economy is declining. Stupid decisions over lowering the federal intrest rate caused that. The housing and bank failures were caused by preadetory practices issuing loans and retards taking loans they could never have covered.
And now the Fed can't do a damn thing to fix it. Raise interest rates to increase the value of the dollar? The housing market collapses, banks fail, and the economy implodes. Lower the intrest rate to help out with the home loans? The dollar becomes worthless, oil is switched to another currency and our economy implodes.
Now if our government is spending too much money, why the hell should we elect a member of a party thats always wanted to spend MORE money over the guy that has made a career out of fighting for spending reform?

I don't think the goverment is spending too much money, just that they are spending it in the wrong places, and if decmocrats are such money spenders why did we hit a suprlus for the first time in years with clinton?

The war spending is the reason you were caught with your pants down when katrina happened. It is unsustainable economically.
Slapnuts Aug 30, 2008 at 7:46 pm

War spending had nothing to do with katrina. That was a lack of organization, planning, and less that average defenses already in place for such a thing happening, i.e. the weak ass levees.Â
It wasnt as if we werent in war, all that money would have gone to New Orleans years ago to prepare for a hurricane...

That surplus came about due to the efforts of the Republican controlled congress.
