Modern Warfare 2 - Call of Duty moniker returns?

Call of Duty is apparently alive and kicking.  All of the promotion leading up to the release of Modern Warfare 2 so far has been just that, "Modern Warfare 2".  Activision has shied away from the classic title since it was announced way back in March with my awesome photoshop work.  After the announcement everything was just labeled "MOW2" minus our dearest Call of Duty.

Rest assured folks this is still a Call of Duty game and Activision isn't abandoning the franchise for subtitles quite yet.  You can see the box art to the right, which came from a developer on the games' Twitter, and take from it what you will.  Recent articles show that Modern Warfare 2 as a sole title probably wasn't the best of ideas and Google Trends backed that theory up as well. 

Most of us aren't gaming casuals so I doubt many of us had a hard time understanding what "Modern Warfare 2" is.  If you did then you should probably step away from World of Warcraft sometime and play some new games. 

What does this mean for the future of Call of Duty?  I am pretty sure whatever subtitle Treyarch decides for their edition next year, hopefully they drop both the "7" and skip a "World at War 2".  How about something fresh like "Call of Duty 5.5 and a 5th Jacking Up Arabs" edition?
