Morning News: HL2: Episode 3 at E3? 360 Price Drop? Mega Man 9, Lucasarts Cans Force Unleashed Crew, DC MMO

Lots of big news this morning for you folks to check and digest.  E3 is just a couple of weeks and lots of news will seemingly be dropping from that show so stay tuned.


The biggest news for me today was this.  Half Life 2: Episode 3 is supposedly being shown at E3.  Check out the game's entry here.  With an E3 announcement, and with Left 4 Dead this winter, I wouldn't expect this till Spring at the earlier.  But either way it has me stoked.

Mega Man 9 has been announced for the Wii Ware service.  It is old school 2D retro style, featuring bosses the likes of Galaxy Man, Plug Man and... Splash Woman?  I always loved the old school blue bomber games, I may consider grabbing this on my Wii. 

Thanks to a K-Mart ad we have a potential rumor for Xbox 360 price cut.  Could it be announced at E3?  Who knows at this point.  The ad is due the week before E3 and notes that the Premium Xbox 360 will be selling at $299.99 instead of $349.99. 

*Update* It seems the ad is actually for the week of E3, July 13th.  Joystick has a new full page image here.  Seems the price drop is probably legit.

It seems Lucasarts' Force Unleashed development crew may be getting... unleashed, as in from the company.  We talked about these layoffs and cuts a while back though Lucasarts denied dropping their in house dev. team.  But it seems many of the staff that worked on the game have been let go, and Lucasarts would have rehire for a sequel.

DC Comics is working on a MMO set in the world of DC.  Very City of Heroes'esque I imagine, however within the confines of a very successful and already established world.  Sony Entertainment will be heading up the reigns and expects to have the game on the PC and PS3.
