There is a new Zelda game on the way as I mentioned during a E3 wrap-up. Not much is known about the title though we can guess there will be Link, Zelda, a sword, bow and arrow, bombs and a boomerang. Being on the Wii you can count on some motion controls too. I know I am really reaching here but I have to be able to guess at least one thing, right?Talking to Nintendo Power in a post E3 interview Shigeru Miyamoto gave us a little bit to go on regarding the upcoming Zelda title which we expect to be out sometime near the holiday season in 2010. Miyamoto told them:
“I don’t think it’s going to be that radically different.”
Surprise! The one time the series really strayed was with Wind Waker. The game was still critically well received but critics and fans alike panned the constant sailing which became complete tedious. You stick with what works it seems and Miyamoto realizes that.
Besides the above tidbit the only other concrete info we have is the picture up and to the right. It shows the more mature Link, similar to the one shown off before Wind Waker that had everyone drooling. Who or what that the female'esque thing in front of Link is up in the air. It almost looks like a statue. Is it a creature, a human, something frozen as a statue thanks to the gem? Your guess is as good as mine.
Miyamoto has confirmed the use of MotionPlus controls which should be a big plus for this built-from-the-ground-up Wii title (not the Gamecube, like Twilight Princess). Less waggle and more epic sword fighting in your living room should be a nice selling factor.
The good thing is motion controls can't replicate crawling around on all fours so if we have transformations this time around you should be able to avoid any embarrassing moments with girlfriends or roommates walking in.

Twilight Princess was fantastic, so I would dispute your claim.

Zelda is the best series by far. Having played all the zelda games I'd go (except the new Phantom Hourglass).
1. Ocarina of Time - Greatest game ever made hands down.
2. Majora's Mask - While not as good as OoT it still was classic with it's numerous masks and transformations.
3. Twilight Princess - I really enjoyed the newest zelda and the wii mote I think does it justice.
4. A Link to the Past - Was the best 2d ever zelda made and was incredibly fun to play.
5. Wind Waker - I'm not a fan of cell shaded, but I did enjoy the sailing (I sail myself, I own a lazer).
The older nes games are lost on me because I never had the joy to experience them during their day so I didn't include them.
I like a more mature link, I've always wanted to see an evil side to link maybe him losing control of himself and being consumed by dark link?
Btw the only reason I own a wii is because of zelda and it's the only game I own lol.

Good list. Having played them all I'd go a bit different.
1. OoT
2. Link to the Past
3. Legend of Zelda
4. Twilight Princess
5. Majoras Mask
6. Wind Waker
7. Zelda II
I don't think I am missing anything but handhelds.

I just wish they would remake Link to the Past with updated graphics personally. That would be amazing imo it was such an excellent game.
Majora's Mask was ******* bad
Ocarina of Time was also an excellent game
Wind Waker wasn't bad.
and TP i never played kind of stopped after Wind Waker.

Ocarina was by far the best of any Zelda game. The graphics were ground breaking for it's time, and the gameplay and controls were excellent. Why can't games be this simple, yet incredibly fun with so much depth anymore?

Wind Waker was fantastic, I don't understand the hate on it. The sailing was great imo. Gave the game a lot more depth, and was far more fun than riding around on a horse. Majora's Mask was very different to the usual Zelda games, too. I never played Twilight Princess, just never got around to it. I have it on Wii, too. I reckon my total Wii gaming time since I got the system (launch day in what, 2006?) is around 25 hours. Only games I played through were Metroid Prime 3 and Super Paper Mario. Both pretty short games.

Another rumor about the girl thing is that it is the master sword in some sort of humanoid form - I am guessing this came to be because as you can see he's sword less but still has his shield.
At the end of the day I think Majora's Mask beats out Oot - the world was a lot more alive in the sequel as over the course of three days you see how every individual played out their lives, and if you were one to go for total completion (or at least all 24 masks) then you can really see how crazy things got (especially the couples mask storyline).
Even if Oot had that the one thing that MM had that Oot didn't was the edge. It had a darker story that dealt with themes a little less G rated then the predecessor. I mean come on, not to downplay Gannon or anything but I think the destruction of the entire world in a short time frame beats out being ruled by some evil dude.

I personally loved Majora's mask and Windwaker.
-Majoras for improving on everything Oot had plus deviating from the norm storyline and style a bit.
-Windwaker for trying something completly differnt style wise (I personally liked the art, I find people who will shy away from games purely from the artstyle silly).
Im probably in the minority with my choice though :/
