Last year I felt Sony had the best showing at E3 even though Microsoft stole the show with their Final Fantasy 13 announcement. Sony brought better games and like Kotaku has shown they pretty much lived up to almost everything they promised. You could argue Sony played it pretty safe last year so hopefully the 09' conference brings some bigger announcements.
Rumors persist that Sony may debut some sort of motion controls this year to tag along with the Wiimote and possible 360 motion controller. The Sixaxis does motion already but I generally only use it when necessary. I don't really buy in to motion controls but I guess the casuals love it.
The obvious news that everyone is waiting for is a price cut. Sony has dragged their feet on this for some time now trying to eek out profitability on their latest console all while scrapping along in the market share department. $100 would be perfect, $50 is a must. The console is just too expensive even if it has fantastic value considering the Blu-ray player. While the PS3 isn't going the way of the Saturn or Dreamcast, third place is not a spot Sony is happy with. This could tie in really nice with the rumors of a slim redesign of the console.
On the software front I expect some sort of new God of War 3 news. Some new video and possibly even a release date would be awesome. I don't expect this game to hit shelves until early next year but any information in what likely be a Game of the Year contender is more than welcome. A release date would probably make my E3.
Gran Turismo 5. I am crossing my fingers on this one. Prologue sold very well and is still quite popular. The logistics behind it was to wet the appetites of racing fans until GT5 was ready. Considering how far along Prologue is there is no reason the full game couldn't be nearing completion and see a release within the year. The only work outside of the game's engine and features are track and car modeling, though promised "car damage" is expected to make its way into both titles. Rumors have this making it out by the end of the year if some reliable GT informants are accurate.
The new Team ICO project will most likely be shown at the show as well. Creators of ICO and Shadow of the Colossus are readying their "Project TRICO" which we saw leak out a bit early in this trailer. Team ICO has never made a bad game and I don't expect this to be the exception. Screw the haters, this looks great.
![]() If Uncharted 2 ties these amazing graphics with the solid gameplay from the first this will be a hit. |
Heavy Rain will most likely be shown off as well as MAG too. Sony loves to talk about their exclusives and that really is the best thing they have going right now until a price cut comes along. Check out the trailer for Heavy Rain here.

To be serious what the **** is going on with Gran Turismo? Do they have southerners making this game or what? Game should have been out last year. Instead they do a double dipping George Lucas **** the consumer move and give you a half assed prologue or whatever fancy **** name they have for it.
Tbh if Gran Turismo has vehicle damage, customization to the cars, great car selection, online auctions, online race viewing, massive amount of tracks, and extensive tuning you can be sure it will top Forza 2. I'm very, very curious how this car damage thing will be implemented into the game.
As for the other games mentioned don't know **** about them.

Considering you haven't even played it, *****ing about is pretty bad taste. It is easily a more "full" game then quite a few $60 dollar games and on top of that it was only $35.

Ah, 35 bucks for a game you are going to buy again, lol. I played it at your place and other than the graphics I wasn't impressed. If it doesn't have damage or car customization its a failure. Forza is the benchmark now. For now anyways.

Keep dreaming. Forza is amateur compared to GT, always has been. True simulation > kids racing game.

ROFL, yeah, true simulation when cars are bumping around with no damage, yeah simulation my ******* ass, lol. Keep dreaming that your current Gran Turismo is a better simulation than Forza 2.

Right, because cars race with serious damage all the time...

Serious damage? Probably not with serious damage, but there are **** load out there that are damaged and still race. If you have serious damage in Forza 2 you either quit or limp around kind of like in real life or, ahem, an actual simulation. Forza's damage is set up pretty damn well. Pick the ****** up for 12 bucks and try it out.

Yeah, I meant Forza 3 not Forza 2. Although I would assume Forza 2 tops Queerlogue by a mile.

Not sure if you saw this interview with the lead dev on The Agency. Game sounds ok...but it is SoE, and I don't think I can forgive them for their past mistakes.

I can understand the hesitation. Hopefully they pull off something at least semi decent. There is a major untapped mmo market on the PC imho.

I heard Capcom is making a new game of an existing IP, and I've got a feeling it'll be Breath of Fire!

As far as the FF7 remake, I see this being a HUGE possibility. Square is definitely tied up at the moment, but that is "MEGATON" status. I could not think of anything else, maybe the firmware update that allows backwards comp, but the FF7:RM seems more realistic.

Won't happen. Slowest game developers other than 3D Realms on Duke Nukem Forever (lol) . I would expect a new Hitman or Tomb Raider game announcement.
(FF6 remake would excite me more.)
I hope Konami announces a new Suikoden and MGS game.

Eh? They're making 2 games right now. I don't care how slow they're doing them, these games are gonna be massively long and beautiful.
I see konami making a DLC for MGS. But that still isn't "MEGATON" ya know.

Three games actually, don't forget about Agito.
DLC for MGS could be possible, though I'd expect a new game before DLC single player content.

Hardly. You got a first 3D RPG, Greatest villain in game history, epic story, and great character development. What more do you want? A remake would only make the game better.

RPG w/ a 3D game engine, came out before FF7.
2)
All that other **** is completely subjective and makes you sound like a mindless fanboy.
Conclusion:
Massively Overhyped.

Np, I like you too. I also think FF7 was an excellent game. Just not as "omgbestever" as many people make it out to be.
I also think that its time may have passed.
