I haven't played it but I feel Yahtzee touched on but ultimately glazed over an area that I feel needs to be addressed:
Let. Franchises. Die.
I can't put it to you any more simply than that. And I say that having loved most of the Resident Evil games. I know 'Corporate' is always going to want squeeze every last dollar out of the proverbial money tree, but enough is enough. When you stop adding numbers to the end of your games you've got so damn many of them; you know its time to wrap it up.
Final Fantasy gets a pass, but only because 95% of them have nothing to do with each other. In fact, why can't companies take the Squaresoft approach where you get to keep your damn brand and at the same time make entirely new games without alienating your fan-base. This problem is only going to get worse because games are costing more to make.

While I agree to an extent, and yes this is surely a horrible title, I dont think it is time for RE to die quite yet.Â
The "main" series arguably just hit is peak with RE4 at least critically. Ironically, as you mentioned it also, it was a standalone title outside of the whole umbrella aspect. Hopefully RE5 continues this course as it seems it does so far from trailers.Â
This as a spin-off however is absolutely retarded. I have played a little bit of it, and its like a house of dead clone in the RE world, lame. Leave it at the arcades.
