84 songs will ship on the disc and at release there will be 20 songs to download for free after release. No idea if this is a set song pack. Or like a 20 song credit to download various songs, maybe RB1 content? Lots of questions in this regard.
The press release also confirms the ability to port over RB1 songs to RB2 for a free of $5 to avoid disc swapping and turn them into RB2 gameplay.

There are only 10-12 songs I am "really" looking forward to playing. The rest is average, at least to my music tastes. I like a lot of the artists don't get me wrong. It just seems they could have picked various better songs per artist. They have many "2nd tier" songs per artist and not flagship songs these artists are known for.

And they have the terrible AFI. Ugh.
Their first two albums were great, but the rest just sort of blew. That goth emo rock thing is not for me.

I hate how they always stick the most popular songs from every band they have. Anyone who is a Jimmy Eat World fan can tell you that "The Middle" is kind of an annoying song.

I am always surprised at what songs are great fun to play. From an instrumental perspective, stuff like Down With The Sickness would be a ton of fun to drum. But I'm not a huge Disturbed fan. Same goes for Jethro Tull and some others on there.
I'll reserve my judgement until after I play it.

Very true. I was just looking at it more from the "songs i really like to listen to" aspect.
I am sure some of these are going to play great.

I can't wait to do Alive. Classic grunge ballad, I want to sing/guitar/bass/drum equally. The Paramore track has some kick ass drums too, I'm looking forward to that.

Ya'll are insane, 2/3 of that list is quality stuff from all kinds of genres, along with the required pop stuff that will probably still be fun to play.
I never expected to see Jethro Tull or Bob Dylan on here, great suprise.

i know many of the artists, i know none of their songs though except for linkin park and disturbed. Would've liked to have seen some SOIL and In Flames, i guess they're not well known enough
.

In Flames was on GH3. But yeah, they usually go for really popular artists to get more people to buy the game. And they probably only want a few metal songs idk(not calling linkin park metal btw)

I forgot to ask. Is the fee for ALL RB1 songs? Or just each song?

well considering the cost of moving each one, I am sure it is for all of them.
Must be some kind of service or add on you could download via PSN/XBL, like a program to download, and then it ports over the songs to your hard drive maybe, to run in RB2 style.
Or it could be some sort of online check, which validates a game disc, and offers a RB1 DLC pack maybe?
Question is, what is to prevent you from borrowing someone's RB1 disc and doing this? Anything? They noted it was to avoid disc swaps, so there is no continual validation that you own RB1. Maybe that is the reason for the fee, as it will kill RB1 sales at that point.
