Smells like some Nirvana up in this bad boy. Activision has let loose the last of the unannounced tracks from Guitar Hero 5. They have been playing their typical slow and steady stream of new songs from week to week and now all 85 tracks from all 83 artists are on display.
I've questioned my desire in regards to picking this up as I feel the series has lost a bit of luster and I don't like how Activision isn't focusing on GH as a platform allowing the games to be backwards compatible with all the past songs. I don't think I am the only one a bit disillusioned with the music-game world as I addressed in a past blog.
Not a bad list though I don't know if it has the same appeal that the Guitar Hero World Tour list had. I count maybe 20 or so songs I am really looking forward to playing and you can't go wrong having a double dose of Nirvana and Tom Petty. Generally Activision does a solid job of mixing up past and modern hits with a slight tilt towards the former which is perfectly fine with me. It has always been my thoughts that modern rock in general just doesn't stack up as well as past hits.
Without further ado here is the full list:- A Perfect Circle - "Judith"

Not picking this up. Sold all my instruments and it's not worth picking this up with the guitar for the like, 6 songs I like.

there is no doubt about it, gh gets better with every game, it's just getting old for most people
i think the best thing about this setlist is that they're picking up a lot better bands than they were able to in the other games, which opens up their options a lot. gh2 was a really good game and they had 0/5 of my favorite bands, by gh3 they had 3/5 and now they have 5/5, 4 in this game alone, and they do a very good job of making sure that every genre is represented which is good even if i have to hate a handful of the songs they put in every game
i think the beatles probably signed exclusively to harmonix, with that exception gh has picked up every major band i can think of right now with the obvious exception of led zeppelin
now if they would just make one of their 1band expansion games with a band i liked...

Ya the beatles are exclusive to MTV/Harmonix. Page recently said they wont sign on to do a game: http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/4807661.cms
sounds like Jimmy doesn't quite understand how the game works, but w/e.
Ive always wanted Floyd, but they seem to be holding out as well. I'd go ape **** for a Pink expansion.

muse is the ****. supermassive black hole would probably be more fun to play than plug in baby, but i guess i couldnt pick just 1 song any way i look at it. hysteria would be ******* great too.
not buying new instruments, just picking up the game probably.

I liked the GHWT set list better, it had a lot more well known songs for the audience that likes rock but isn't balls deep into it. This one still has some songs I like though, like Smells Like Teen Spirit, Sultans of Swing and Stevie Wonder's Superstition. Does anyone know if you can convert the songs from the GHWT disc to GH5 like you were able to do with RB->RB2? I like the visual style of GH5 a lot more than the older GH's and the instruments are better, I only have a GH3 guitar so if I am going to buy a full band game I'd rather pick the one with the best instruments (and rent/borrow GHWT and import the songs if possible).
