Not only that, but the demo is out this week and exclusive to the Playstation 3! Mark your calendars for April 30th, Thursday as MvC2 day on the PSN.Details on the demo are as follows:
- Two-player local matches
- Six available characters – Ryu, Chun-Li, Strider, Spider-Man, Iron Man and Wolverine (just on the demo)
- Seven selectable environments
- Upscaled 1080p graphics
- Widescreen or 4:3 aspect ratio
- Two graphic filter options for character sprites
- And other cool options to check out
While I may have preferred a "HD Remix" version, that is a pretty massive undertaking and I won't really complain about this one as it features upscaled graphics and supports widescreen.
The full release of the game will also feature all 56 characters from the get go, no unlocking required. It is based on the Dreamcast release, obviously will support online play and custom soundtracks as well. As if "take you for a ride" isn't the coolest thing ever already? Plus it is only $15.
Kotaku has some screenshots from the event and you can view one of them below. More news via Capcom Unity as well.

Are you fighting fans excited? Time to play catch up on this game as I am a total noob but I love almost all of these characters.

um. SF4 is on the way, but we don't have a date yet. Supposedly Capcom will be announcing the release on May 1st. I don't play fighters on the PC so I am probably not the best assistance in this department.
Tried playing any games on http://ggpo.net/ ?

I think he was suggesting worst case scenario. But yes, you may as well get a USB xbox 360 controller, or at least something passable to use on the PC.

"Take you for a ride" is definitely hype. I'd +2 if I could.
Pretty lazy of Capcom to just make a port to cash in on the popularity.

Id say it is a far cry from just a port. So it doesnt have hand drawn HD sprites like SSF2HDR, it has pretty much everything else +custom soundtracks, more players, HD smoothing, widescreen, etc.
At 15$ I think it is a pretty good value.

Might be because while the game still gets tournament play in the U.S. it's not nearly as popular in Japan, and it has a tremendous amount of sprites over SSF2 that would need to be redrawn.

This would have been ho hum news if Capcom didn't pull the plug on online play for the original xbox at the last minute, but for whatever stupid reason it happened.
What I never got was that the d/c one didn't have online play in the US but they had it in japan - I wonder if its the way the infrastructure was in japan that allowed it.
It took them 9 years but they finally got it right.
Maybe they'll surprise us with a 10th anniversary sequel or something at E3....

Rumors of a MvC3 have persisted but if they were able to make this remake then maybe Marvel and Capcom have worked out a new licensing deal? Not sure how the rights work on a re-release of this sort.
I am sure the DC not having online play here in the states was because of just that, or shoddy internet structure at the time and slower adoption of online connectivity when it came to console gaming.

Yeah I hope that this remake is a good sign....maybe (probably) things are different when it has to do with remaking/re-releasing vs a whole brand new game.
