There is good news then! It seems the Wii may be heading towards a price drop. A weekly ad from Toys'R'Us via Kotaku notes that at the start of October the Wii may be making the move to $199.99. These flyers are the new price cut leaky faucet it seems as the PS3 and Xbox 360 Elite $299.99 were also first announced thanks to retailer ads that they couldn't keep under wraps.
The Wii at $199.99 still isn't priced well enough for me to buy my own. I borrow my fathers whenever needed, which is pretty rare, and I haven't felt the need to buy my own and definitely not at $199.99 or $249.99.
The good news is that it should help the slowly fading Wii sales. Last week for instance the PS3 outsold all of its rivals thanks to its price cut. Sales of the console were up almost triple. I don't think the Wii see nearly that kind of momentum as I am under the impression the Wii-market is pretty saturated and besides for the ultra-cheap folks I have a feeling its month to month sales have peaked. Sure, priced at $100 it would probably hit a boom phase again but for now things are slowing up.
Looking over my WTB game list for the rest of the year the Wii is definitely taking (it?) up the rear. The multiplayer Super Mario Brothers game may be of interest and I might check out the Metroid Prime Trilogy as well. If Mario Galaxy 2 makes it out this year that will probably be the last one of the year I pick up. There just isn't much that shouts "must have" on the Wii as of late.
Is $200 priced right to get you flailing your arms around like a buffoon waggle-style?

My Wii basically acts as an expensive way for me to play 64/SNES games.

My Wii collects dust. It comes out for bowling when people are over or golf, that's about it. Its basically a kids console.

The Wii ******* sucks and it successfully killed console gaming for me. I've been strictly PC after opting to buy the WII. The Wii has been collecting dust since 2 weeks after my purchase of it. Having been a hardcore console since I could walk (Hell I even own a dreamcast), I now have a hatred for Nintendo. It has deterred me from even thinking about purchasing a PS3 & Xbox 360. Perhaps i'll re-enter the console scene for PS4/720.

My PC was faster than the Wii in 2001. It's 8 years outdated. I don't understand the draw. Why doesn't Nintendo use a base of, for example, a current $300 netbook's hardware (subtracting the hardware for the screen and keyboard/touchpad) and double dip for peripherals like they already do and produce games that have more than 10 polygons per character?
Why are people drawn to this? Once you pay for the system, two controllers and a couple of (****ty) 'group' games that you'll play for a week then leave to gather dust you're paying the same amount you would for a ps3 and two controllers and a few decent games from a used games shop.

The Wii Motion Plus really kind of annoys me. By now that should come bundled with the system and every wiimote, kind of absurd that it doesn't.
My dads has literally been sitting since I used last summer for Resident Evil 4. No one has touched it. Told him today I was gonna snag it for Metroid Trilogy and he is like, whatever, go ahead. 3/4 of the people I know with them rarely play them and the other quarter only plays when they have friends/family over.

Yeah the Wii Motion Plus irritated me as well.
The problem I have with the Wii, as a longtime Nintendo console buyer (my 360 was the first non-nintendo console I ever bought and I bought it just about a year ago), is that their game library doesn't have any depth.
You have Twilight Princess, Mario Kart, Galaxies, Metroid Prime 3 (now trilogy), and Smash Bros representing their core franchises going on 3 years after its initial release. 5 Games.
Most of the rest of the system is shovelware or the party / group games that are fun and interesting at first (some of them anyways) but don't have any lasting entertainment value.
I easily owned twice as many games for my GCN as I have on my Wii by this stage of the console's life.

Ps3 > 360 > Ps2 > Xbox > Nintendo 64 > Wii
Thats the unbiased opinion. But for my money, a Ps3 is a good deal in front of anything else tech/game/awesome wise.

Id probably put the 64 ahead of the xbox, but otherwise I would probably agree with that. Lots of crossed generations there though in that list. PS1, Dreamcast and GC would all be those gens as well.

I'll wait for a new zelda till i hook it up again, it's collecting dust
for now. I dont care anymore for Mario and his disgusting friends. he used to be my hero when i was young, but now that im older i cant see what i admired about him anymore. Hes fat, always wears the same cloths and that mustache looks **** on him. nintendo should get with the times, mario looks like a ***** and needs some mayor retuning, something like that dude from metal gear solid. Give him some guns aswell, jumping and crushing **** cause your fat is lame.

I've had a Wii since release and I have to agree with a lot of the statements here. There hasn't been a single game that has held much replay value for me and quite often after putting down a new game it'll be a couple months before I even turn the system on again.
Super Punch Out! - good for 3 days of excitement while going through story mode, had no interest in unlocking challenges after
Mario Galaxy - One Playthrough, bored and never bothered finishing off all the stars
Zelda - straight play through
etc.
etc.
The only time it really gets solid use is when company comes over and we play "party" games (rockband, mario party, rayman, and so on). These are classic games which easily translate into fun drinking games but sadly that's almost the only thing i use it for.
I did just buy the Rockband Beatles release and like every other game I buy i played it through once and now it'll collect dust until someone comes over and wants to check it out.
At the end of the day though I guess if people keep buying the titles Nintendo doesn't really care how much they play as long as they pay.
