You must have a mushroom to do it. Powersliding turbos will not work.
I jumped out of my seat when I did it; I couldn't believe it. This just happened about 30 seconds ago, so I'm going to try to get the replay up as soon as possible to share.
Update: Here's the video. Also, I just saw a different video that showed someone using a red mini turbo to dodge a blue shell. However, the video quality was crappy, so I'm still not sold.

Boosting is about the only way to dodge the blue shell and you gotta boost JUST as its about to dive in front of you so you basically escape the explosion.

I've tried about 1,000 times and it hasn't worked. So I'd like to see a video of this, because not even the people on MK64 say that regular boosting works.

I meant boosting with a shroom. I did it a couple times last night, i cannot get it to work boosting from a PS. Probably because its harder to control and you are usually sideways.
