Every time I play or watch streams of people fighting as or against hunters I see endless mistakes and strategy issues that I can't help but think are related at least partially to ignorance about the class and its mechanics. I've had situations where I've played multiple teams with the same setup and one gets destroyed and the other wins because they're more aware of hunter weaknesses and how to combat one of the most easily disrupted and the most easily LOSd classes in the game. This blog won't… More

I have a dream that some day soon we'll get to see an experienced capable MM or SV hunter compete in a major arena tournament. I have a dream that the BM tree will disappear from competitive play until it's revamped into something other than a cool down ram and pray spec. 3.3 is on the horizon and with that Blizzard has one of the last if not the last opportunity to get the hunter class set up to be competitive and viable to round out this expansion. So why exactly are non BM hunters having a har… More

I'm losing faith in Marks as we've fought more and more teams that focus on nullifying my damage and being successful @ it. I re-specced back to a high damage output SV build (5/5 MT etc) and my 3v3 team shot up to 2650 last night (2nd in the BG), I've also noticed 5s teams with ever increasing focus on defensive affliction scrubbing which is especially painful as MM/Destro. I will say this however that there are teams where MM definitely has a clear advantage but from my experiences the over … More

Halloween 2k9:I hope everyone has a good time for Halloween. I hit up the local traders store and managed to scramble together a costume for this evening. If anyone is going to be out in Indianapolis tonight you may see me. The sweatshirt is official NASCAR gear so I had to drop 20 bucks on the shirt alone but it will be well worth it. If I had the foresight I would have grown out a sweet mustache but this will have to do. Epic comment:I actually managed to to create a post that had the epicness … More

Yea, you read that correctly. See I'm one of those people that likes to tie up as many loose ends as I can as fast as I can. When I used to raid that meant getting **** on farm as fast as possible so we could cut down to a 2 day raid week leaving as much time as possible to PVP. Nothing was better than having access to the best PVE gear in the game with a limited time investment (farm mode) and being able to utilize that gear to 1 up the competition doing what I enjoyed more than ever which was P… More

For a change of pace I'm going to go over an aspect of the game unrelated to hunters. Doing a few Isle of Conquest BGs this week I've realized that some how people are still clueless at how to best approach this BG. I'm going to go over the basics including how to best approach the BG and a few tips that can help tip the edge in your favor. This is going to be geared toward horde obviously but much of it can be applied to alliance as well for obvious reasons. It's generally accepted by people tha… More

While we can't expect every "little" change to make it into the patch notes (or can we?) hunters seem to be plagued by always having hidden changes implemented in patches. We've seen pet changes, shot changes, range changes etc all implemented in patches w/o a single mention by anyone in blizzard development. We either find out about these by catching them randomly on the PTR or after they go live and someone is like "hey did you guys know that...?" Why do some changes not make it into the patch … More

Before we get this underway understand one thing. I do think the BM tree needs revamped and I'm definitely not convinced the current and or nerfed version of the tree is anywhere near as cool or complex or developed as the tree can and should be. With that said we're going to explore the new BWrath change and how it's going to affect the "go to" spec when we don't feel like dying inside the first stun that lands (ala MM). Knee jerking blizzard development. They only tap the hammer when RMP is thr… More

In this blog I'm going to explore the past problems with poisons and what we can do to remedy the situation. Notable defining poisons that made hunters a nightmare to "balance" in the past.Viper Sting: Viper sting was an exceptionally powerful mana drain and at one point in time caused hunters to literally hard counter some teams. This situation was predominate in the drain era of the game. The ability being a poison meant it was grossly overpowered vs some and marginally effective against others… More

Hunters Aspect of the Cheetah: Can now be learned at level 16.Deterrence: This ability now allows the hunter to parry spells and attacks from behind as well as in front. Now has a new visual spell effect. The time that traps will exist in the world after being put down has been reduced to 30 seconds, down from 1 minute.Frost Trap: Will no longer "fizzle" on targets immune to snare effects, however Lock and Load will not succeed when using Frost Trap if the target is immune to snare effects.Snake T… More
