Isle of Conquest: People are still clueless - Mind=Blown

For a change of pace I'm going to go over an aspect of the game unrelated to hunters. Doing a few Isle of Conquest BGs this week I've realized that some how people are still clueless at how to best approach this BG. I'm going to go over the basics including how to best approach the BG and a few tips that can help tip the edge in your favor. This is going to be geared toward horde obviously but much of it can be applied to alliance as well for obvious reasons.

It's generally accepted by people that know that vehicles are the most important aspect of the BG now that you can't hangar bomb rush as easily.

The most important nodes in order of importance are.
Docks
Workshop
Hangar
Quarry/Refinery

Docks: Docks are important because they give your team glaive throwers which provide high damage door breaking ability from outside of turret range. A couple throwers pounding a gate will take it down quickly.

Workshop: Workshop gives you demolishers and eventually a steam engine. If your team has enough offensive strength to hold both docks and workshop then all the better but it isn't necessary to win. Glaive throwers alone can have the doors down in 5~ minutes leading to a sub 10 minute IOC victory.

Hangar: With the bomb nerf the hangar isn't the  auto win node like it used to be which is a good thing. Usually ignoring the node wont negatively effect your chances of winning.

Quarry/Refinery: Its worth it to send someone to tap these just for the siege damage bonuses but you should never devote much man power to holding them unless both teams end going max D and forcing a reinforcements battle.

There isn't really a complex strat there are just priorities on what should be happening at any point in time during the battle. I'm going to include some screens to help visualize locations and what you should be doing to be most effective.

This map highlights glaive thrower location (Red dot) and where your glaive defensive should position to bottle neck alliance on the bridge to help protect the throwers. They only have 70k hp and can be zerged down so protecting them is a priority.




Here is a screen capture of glaives in location as well as catapults and bridge defenders. This is pretty much perfect IOC dock vehicle positioning.



Here you see a catapult in location launching players onto the west corner tower. Disabling these turrets allows any workshop vehicles that approach the ability to attack the gate with only player damage to worry about.



If you're one of those people that can think out of the box instead of mindlessly zerging you can take advantage of the fact that you can attack the frame around the door for the same damage.



One tip is if you're a hunter killing turrets you can disengage to the middle area and attack turrets w/o having to worry about melee dps.



And an 8 minute victory because I got lucky and got in an IOC with some people that actually knew how to play. You can win even faster if you have workshop damage also but glaives only you can go sub 10 mins pretty easily.



There is nothing crazy or complex about IOC but when I see people zerging the front gate with demos and getting turreted down in 5 seconds I just /facepalm. Why would you attack a gate with 6 defending guns when you can attack a gate with 3 that also has dead zones. The west gate is also the closest to the base flag and the farthest away from the base GY making it easier to cap vs any defenders that may be inside.
