The main reason of this post is what you think the main reason so many stick to 1.6 compared to source? Many say source has easier hit boxes and it doesn't feel the same. I have never been a major 1.6 addict in the past but playing both recently it seems like the guns in source are a bit more accurate and player models seem slightly larger compared to map size very easily seen in DE dust. The spray from guns in 1.6 even crouched is humungous it's almost like RNG all over again getting long ranged headshots which sort of turned me off from 1.6.
I personally prefer source but maybe I'm just a noob and I like something easier but I doubt wanting more consistent rounds makes the game any less skill based which in fact would seem to me to make it more aim required because you don't get lucky spray headshots. This whole blog was pretty much one long run on sentence and I apologize for that :P
Enlighten me veteran fpsers or maybe the hardcore players have finally been moving on to the future?

CS beta 4 and 5 > 1.6 IMO.
I loved being able to use the AWP as a close quarters weapon.
I loved the faster pace of gameplay where you didn't instantly grind to a perfect halt as soon as you took damage.
I loved cs_facility and de_docks and hate de_dust and de_dust2.
I loved the original character models that were later replaced by the current ones which appear to suffer from poles up their *****.
The game didn't have as much polish back then but it sure had more heart.

1.6 simply because I'm to used to it. I've been playing CS since like forever. When I played CS:S for the first time it just didn't feel right & as good as 1.6 felt.

Did you really say.. that you don't know where the spray is going to go in 1.6? the bullets form a pattern dude, you can aim it ...
1.6 has BETTER hitboxes
fix your ex_interp, play on a server that lets you do cl_updaterate 100, cl_cmdrate 100 and rate 25000 and you'll see..
SOUND actually matters more in 1.6, WALLSPAM matters more
only thing I do like, is that in source the flashbangs kill your sound too for a bit.

Interesting opinions so far. Seems like a lot of the reasoning is nostalgia but I understand some of your complaints (bigger models for example).
The nade physics make me lol a lot in 1.6 and it feels like I'm playing block dude. I never understood how you could shoot through CONCRETE walls that is about as unrealistic as it gets for game focused on a lot of realism.Â

^ One of the biggest reasons I hated CS... lolwalls.
At least in L4D the substance I'm shooting through matters.

You know you loved playing nuke and having the first 30 seconds of the round be walling fights trying to get some free kills =)
I remember I took out 3 people in the upper bomb room from the roof.
Good times.

The fact that I can put 5 shots in a row in the same spot with a deagle, 1 second delay between shots, from across the map in source makes the game trivial and very noob friendly.
It was like the change from 1.3 to 1.5 and moving. In 1.3 you used to slide when stopping for split second and good players would quickly tap the otherway so their shots were accurate.
1.6 friction is a lot more strict but you can still slide. It's just the leeway you have now is more than it was in 1.3.
Anyways the only reason it ever became big was because CGS needed a game that looked good.
For me I find the biggest thing when switching between games is in 1.6 you can crouch walk, which I do like almost every step, and in source you can't.
Very hard to stop it.

I played cs for something like 5 years before source, so it just felt really wrong. Headshots, recoil, maps, netcode, etc. just a culmination of those things i suppose. I mainly quit cs competitively because of it.

I played leagues in both and I like source SOOOO much more. 1.6 is just all about knowing when and where to shoot the walls. Also in 1.6 you can spray the entire distance of long A with a colt if you know how to pull your mouse down. Source does have magic hitboxes and more random hs in it, but overall I think it is much more based on reflex time and how well you can get headshots. I also prefer the awp in source because after playing with it 1.6 awp just takes way too long to scope so basically you just quick scope the entire time.
It really sucks that the leagues and tourneys didn't just make a decision on which they wanted to use and go with it. Instead the player base got split in half and it killed the competitive side of the game.
