About the gear:
These are my standards for season 2:
11k unbuffed HP with talents.
5% to hit with ranged weapons so I can avoid deep surv.
300 resilience, haven't had any problems with this resilence so far.
After those three you can spend all your ilvl for DPS stats.
About the talent spec: (http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=cV0bZVVsoEzhbstchhRz)
Standards:
Marksmanship, Atleast 41 points
5/5 Lethal Shots
5/5 Effiency
1/1 Aimed Shot -> 5/5 Mortal Shots
5/5 Improved Stings
1/1 Scatter Shot -> 1/1 Trueshot Aura
3/3 Barrage
3/3 Improved Barrage
5/5 Master Marksman -> Silencing Shot
Survival, Atleast 11 points
3/3 Hawk Eye
3/3 Humanoid Slaying
3/3 Entrapment
1/1 Deterrance
For 5on5 I really don't even consider other than MM spec since Scatter Shot and Silencing Shot are so nice tools to have at arena, both have short cooldowns and will be used many times in one match. Deterrence can really save your life sometimes and its good to let your healers know when you activate Deterrence so they know what kind of damage input you will be taking and cast heals on that information.
Filling MM-tree up to 41 points:
1/2 Go for the Throat
I have 2/2 but 1/2 is enough to ensure scorpid poison on each cooldown(too lazy to respec)
3/5 Improved Arcane Shot
I tend to use arcane shot alot for DPS and the option for these talent points would be to pick Conclussive Shot but I don't want to rely on a 12% proc. Usually our main target is at trap or has a hamstring on it anyway which makes Conclussive Shot quite useless(Yes I know it increases Steady Shot dmg)
2/5 Ranged Weapon Specialization (RWS)
Teh 1/5 is really a no-brainer and the 2/5 fights against a point in Careful Aim, after some quick math I came to the conclusion that RWS is the better talent.
Filling Survival-tree up to 11 points:
1/3 Improved Wing Clip
The option would be to pick Savage Strikes but I rarely do Raptors in 5on5, so I feel this is the better place for this talent point.
Leftover points:
So now we are left with 9 talent points which you can spend how you want, the options are:
1. Spending most of the points in Surv-tree getting %hit cap, personal survivability, some for MM for DPS.
2. Spending most of the points for MM-tree for DPS and leftovers for pets hp/clever traps/hp for you
3. What I prefer: Utility/Pet survibility over DPS(especially in our setup)
2/2 Clever Traps
This really helps me to keep my traps active. It works like this: You pop a trap -> The trap activates -> The traps visual effect is there for 30 seconds and then the visual skating rink disappears and reappears, from that you will know that you have 9 seconds to pop a new trap. This talent IMO lets the hunter to play a little more freely.
5/5 Endurance Training
Your pet is really important for you and for your team as well. The pet lets us execute the outlasting tactic better, keeping the opponents in combat(Be sure to watch any paladins/druids/warriors taunting your pet so you keep the real target in combat)
2/3 Thick Hide
Pretty much same as Endurance Training
or
2/2 Improved Revive Pet
Reviving your pet is very situational even with this talent. It depends on the situation/setup you are up against. Sometimes you can pull off Reviving your pet even without the talent. I really don't know which of these two is the better. Lately I haven't lost too many pets in the games when it means something and would be wise to revive with the talent so I prefer 'Thick Hide' atm. in our battlegroup. Also our healers have big pet bars and are well aware how important the pets really are so the pets are enjoying nice ammounts of healing!=)

You need Surefooted. It's the 3rd best talent we have. Also, I've come to the conclusion you don't really need GFTT

I really don't miss Surefooted(the talent), had it back when I was lacking the 5% hit and I'm just fine without it. Rather have the pet talents.

surefooted the snare resist meta gem has saved me so many times, I can't even remember. I really don't think the armor for you and your pet, and the 5% less hp for you is really worth it over Survivalist/Surefooted.

I want the 10% HP for my pet =( Guess we disagree about this issue here, since I don't find my self snared too often in 5on5, usually in the beginning mage might nova me if I'm too close but other than that I don't get snared too often.

It may just be my setup, and I play 3s a lot more than 5s, but I seem to be getting focused a lot in 5s, and the snare resist helps a lot.

yea surefooted is great for 3v3 and 2v2 but I agree with Seita that those bm talents are better for 5v5

Exactly that Oggy. It's the setup. In our 5s setup Seita almost never gets focused, since leaving priest/warrior/warlock combo unattended is asking for a default loss, whereas when we played 3s he was focused quite often (we got to rank1 with hun/lock/pld).
In 5s, if the pet wouldn't be as squishy as it's currently, i'd recommend Seita to spec 0/48/13 just for the sheer damage output with the 13 necessity utility talents from survival. The extra hp from talents can rather easily compensated by setup/playstyle/positioning (have higher priority targets on team, play them aggressively, keep the hunter out of harm's way.)

I don't think my battlegroup (blackout) has many hunters in top5 of any bracket.

Hey man, great video. I am an aspiring 5v5 arena hunter so I was just checking out your video for some tips. Is there any way you can give us a list of PVP mods you use? In particular, I noticed the mod that says when your cooldowns are done. And also, I've never used targeting mods, but after seeing how useful they are in your video I am interested in those also. If you can provide a list that'd be sweet! I just love mods. =]
