I bring to you a link to the torrent for Dead Before Dawn. A L4D mod that has been in development since before L4D released. Based on the amazing Dawn of the Dead setting, DBD takes place in the Crossroads Mall. From what I gather this is an entire campaign. I wont be surprised if this turns out leagues better than Crash Course either.
For those waiting on L4D2 and itching for new content, I urge you to give this mod a try.

Do you think its really possible for mods to catch on enough to get games to fill quick? I've never tried them but I know I filter mods off when searching for games. I'd like to give it a shot but if it would take forever to get full games it doesn't seem like it would be worth even installing..

Given its a mod in a source community I see it doing very well. Most source engine mods tend to. Just look at TF2/CS:S they have a stunning list of mod maps and such that see lots of traffic. L4D has a very healthy Mod community on its own as well.

Yep, good luck. I'm DLing off the torrent atm due to their servers having issues. But it is DLing at a decent speed so It isn't bad.

awesome, i remember they were shooting for a halloween release, seems they pulled it off. Is the finale done too? That was the main concern they had time wise.

I am going to assume yes, because I havent seen anything on the contrary in recent articles. I do remember reading that concern as well a bit back (didn't you do an article on this mod awhile back?)
Ill know soon enough. I don't think I will play tonight, but Ill have a lan of it tomorrow for sure.

I couldnt help but at least demo it tonight, so I loaded up the first map in single player. It already feels very well done. It seems a bit tougher than normal maps, with larger, more frequent hordes, fewer pipe/mollys, and far fewer ammo spots. I like it.

Not that I am aware of. Be sure to check out the install guide before you run it, as it details where to place things, how to install it through the game, and how to fix a potential sound bug that may crop up.

Hmm I'm not sure. I dont think we got stuck anywhere in our run through so its hard to remember. The only spot I can think of that you might get held up at is trying to get on the roof, and/or closing the front mall door.
In regards to the roof, the door at the top of the stair (just after you walk through the storage area with the planks) wont open unless all your players are near. If you are running with AI this can be a problem because your AI partners wont always follow you up because they are terrible and made of fail. In that case I just gunned them all down then killed me and my friend with a combo of fire and shotties :P
