Hello Gameriot,
Â
In an effort to bring better content to you, I've started a new blog with the two best writers on Gameriot, Roma Victor and Briyan.Â
Â
The idea is to basically highlight quality writing here on Gameriot.  While we're not out to win the blogging contest, we hope to inspire better content on WoWRiot.   I don't see any reason why a blog with Roma and Briyan can't be up to par with World of Ming.Â
While Briyan and Roma are free to write whatever they want here, I'll be posting on topic. Between the three of us, we will hopefully have something that is not only readable, but enjoyable and bookmark worthy.
-Vir

And what qualifies as quality content? Gaming related material?

Yes, I'm going to stick strictly to gaming and tech here. Roma and Bryian will write whatever they wish.

but your political trolling blogs are the only worthwhile thing on this site

Probably he is referring to content that is not 100% flame and hit bait.
These three are of the few people who don't rely on flaming to generate hits. They actually write non one-liner content with real substance.
This contest for $250 really killed the quality of articles created on Gameriot.
Slapnuts...I am a fan of your articles. They are informative, well written, interesting, and most importantly don't rely on cheap tactics to gain views. You should realize that, and start to look down upon people who are just trying to snatch a days worth of work in cash.

Dont think I don't. But there isn't a whole lot I can do about it. I don't dictate content around here other than deleting the pure crap and writing my own decent content. So unless something changes site policy wise, this is how it will be I guess.

The second and third place cash prizes should be removed. That way Vir can just win the first place prize and donate it to charity.

WTF stop talking about the contest in other people's blogs. This is a perfect example of getting off topic and turning this blog into a pissing match about the blog contest. The forums are a great place to have a discussion about the contest.

As long as a blog has at least 3 paragraphs of original content that has a point, and isn't just a flame...should be "quality content".

That may be, but is Roma's blog applicable to the average current GR reader?
Quality, in this instance, is totally subjective.
Do they, the average GR viewer, care about thought out, eloquent writing, or just when the next drama bus will arrive?
I'm all for upping the ante, but the GR denizens will doubtfully never be ready for life without drama.
I aren't totally sure of Vir's intent in making this post, but the forthcoming "quality" content should speak for itself, right?

I would hope that with more intelligent blogs, we'd get more intelligent readers.
If blogs are catered solely to those present, we'll only get more of those present.

Perhaps.
I was merely pointing out the situation currently, with only a little reference to the long term.
One could say that the intake of new, "more intelligent" readers is offset by the network/barriers already created by the present readers. The active mechanism of which is like a revolving door, maybe.
Simplistic terms; Dumb out, brains in?
Or are GR's commodities enough to cater to every type of peruser?
The quiet types hate noisy neighbours.

You are by far one of the most entertaining posters on Gameriot.

I don't think brains in ever causes dumb out. If anything, harassing brains is more fun than harassing dumbs for trolls; there's more victory to be had.

Nah, they love you and Roma. I'm suprised were 11 replies in without someone saying 'ROMA AND BRIYAN RULE BUT VIR SUCKS!' or something to that effect.

If by content wise maybe, if you mean by analytics and hits... good luck with that.Â

If the content is well written and interesting the other stuff will come with time.Â

I'll repeat what I said above:
Do they, the average GR viewer, care about thought out, eloquent writing, or just when the next drama bus will arrive?
I appreciate any content that even attempts to delve beyond the e-lulz, but quite where you personally fit into it I aren't sure. The hits/comments game invalidated quite a lot of blogger's "quality" as they chased that winning quota.
Personally, the only regular blogs I take seriously are Slapnuts' and Roma's.

Amen to that. The only reason Ming's traffic is high is the troll following he has. That and people follow what he says in hopes that they will have another piece of RL information they can use to try and ridicule him over gameriot.

I think the first real milestone would be competing with Vir's main blog. Â After that, who knows?

Well the Gameriot Blog and Starfeeder are 2-3 behind WOM.
Well, I don't consider those real blogs, so it's ok.Â

thanks =p
Well Slapnuts, I just mean the major functionality is more like a "news bot" than a blog. Â The vast majority of the posts are not presenting any input from your own brain, it's more like rounding up news and linking people to it.
