I'm going to be honest, I loved blizzard, with extra emphasis on the d. Pre-BC they would've been bar-none my favorite gaming company outside of Square. Diablo 2 is my favorite PC game, and one of my favorites all time regardless of platform. I love everything about the franchise, my life is currently just a clock counting backwards until the next bit of Diablo 3 information is released. 3 months, 12 days, 4 hours if you're curious. Anxious time is drawn out time. But in this particular case, there's a different emotion being lumped in with the anxiousness: Horror.
What could Blizzard possibly do to **** this up. The art controversy doesn't bother me, as I think its over exaggerated. Personalized drops? I kind of liked the wars tab wars to get things off the floor, but it did suck when you missed out.. so I can deal with this even if I think it takes a dimension away from group-play. But respecs, auto stat-distribution... in my D3? Retarded, the heart and soul of D2 was building character after character with different stat builds for whatever reasons your heart desired. My playtime would've been cut to pieces if I could respec whenever I wanted, especially considering I tended to take on new projects as soon as I finished a previous. But even those decisions, as much as I disagree with them, aren't gamebreaking. But who knows what's coming? Blizzard has been slowly butchering a once solid MMO. And while there have certainly been excellent additions in the past few years, their fundamental policies are shifting in a dangerous direction. Are these policies going to carry over into their other franchises? If so, what's coming?
Are we going to see badges of patriarch drop from the act bosses, so that players who don't have time to MF can earn some of the best items in the game?
Is there going to be a separate 'creep' window added to the corner of your map, so you can keep tabs on multiple things at once without ever leaving the view of your base or navigate a map?
Is Diablo going to teleport on to you a half dozen times throughout your act quests, say you amuse him, then leave without so much as a threat?
Afraid? You should be, the future is uncertain. I could offer you comfort, but it would be blind.. and in most cases an outright lie.
Zarhym: For this reason we're continuing with the philosophy that pick-up groups should have some level of success when raiding.
Ghostcrawler: Killing a healer, even in the absence of crowd control, silences or whatever, still needs to be a viable tactic at the end of the day.
And the heavens shall tremble.

+1 hopefully it's not true and they don't develop towards mouthbreathers with these two forthcoming games also

I honestly don't think D3 and their next MMOs will be half as hardcore as D2 or vanilla WoW was because almost all of the people that worked on them have left Blizzard. They have a totally different mindset now, appealing to the casual and getting more money in at the cost of dumbing down the game(s). Which was never something they had in mind when they made the previous games. (abysmal rune/item drops, heavy class imbalance, etc)
I expect D3 to be the WotLK of the series, it will do more damage than good. They will **** up and butcher the game so much it'll look like Mario compared to D2. And while those changes don't bother you that much, i find it really hard to deal with them because D2 was fun that way and i learned to love them.

This is the kinda stuff you write if you have too much time on your hands.

The playable game demo had 2 classes and was VERY brief. It didn't even have most of the stuff that the game will contain. Good job.

Brief =/= non-existent.
And I didnt mention anything that wasn't in the demo, so how the **** is "not everything was in it" even relevant.

D2 was some of the funnest **** I can remember in my gaming career.
Keen to make another paladin and max the **** out of zeal, a million adjacent/multiple attacks for 2 mana, that ****'s retarded.

Kidding me? Hell yes we can trust a Blizzard game. I know you want to go back to spamming decurse in MC as a "boss mechanic" for 8 hours a day, healer rotations, etc, but no one else does.
I know you want to be the 1-shotting 3 minute mage again, the rogue that sits around and ambush kills clothies in WSG, etc.... But no one else does.
Diablo 3 and SC 2 are going to be FINE, I think you missed the part where Blizzard is a huge multimillion dollar company and has different people working on different things at the same time (WoW vs. Diablo vs. SC).

The WoW dev team right now and the ones designing SC2 and D3 are the same people.
True story.

I wanna hear more examples on how you think they will make Starcraft II too easy!

yeah after Diablo II, starcraft, warcraft, WoW we can't trust in their games, they all suck. Try runing a game for 4+ years, ofc there will be major crying about how boring it is after some time

ye i agree games end up beeing stale thats why we get a new game, however a game such as uo lasted way longer than wow due to player interaction same with EVE etc. however that is for a smaller crowd and generates less money, hopefully they will make a mmo project for hardcore gamers. and one for casuals that way they could have an even bigger marget share and we'd get a better game

How dare you compare the first three to the crack***** that is WoW!
drwo May 11, 2009 at 9:34 am

well ofc you can't in terms of balance and competitive play. But WoW is MMO and is there to kill your time/interact with community. But blizzard makes these revolutionary games, it all started with D2 and WC3 and you can't deny that WoW is best MMO out there no matter what people say, so i have faith in them that SC2 and D3 will be great
can't wait
This is where I rant.
