The fact is, I have been in the background, doing what I could to help keep things going smooth for the Quake 4 and COD2 servers, scorebots, and a small part in Q4TV availability. Like I've already noted in a couple comments I've made, if it weren't for some orchestral people in no particular order - Jaimy Thornton, TTimo, SyncError, AnthonyJ, Procyon, Trax, Mr.Chaos, Mark Proctor, Jason Belli, and so many other people I couldn't even begin to remember naming at almost 1am - it wouldn'tve been half as fun as it was for me.
WSVG taught me so much about how these sorts of things need to be managed, and how absolutely important the community plays a role. WSVG's core staff were those of the community with a desire to bust their ***** and grind themselves into the ground to make things work. On the technical side, I've gained so much information in my experience with running the tournament servers for WSVG that I have a sturdy knowledge I can take with me and apply to future endeavors, to aid those running tournament servers for massive LANs in the future.
This has been a terrific ride, and I hope all the best for the WSVG staff in their future endeavors. I hope that when the future comes around, I can help apply the things I've learned and the contacts I've made over these times to help step up the quality of services, to really rock heads and kick ass and do everything I can to make it the best the games can offer.
As things wind down, maybe it's time I start making a few blog posts. Go back to what I intended to do, provide a technical perspective to gaming, a perspective I have yet to see expressed here on Gameriot.
