THE BIG LEBOWSKI IS BACK.
But seriously, this is the first comic book turned movie to impress me in a while. There have been some pretty lame ones in the last few years and hopefully this is the turnaround. Also, the scene after the credits (if you saw it) opened the door for some kickass sequels.
Here is a link to the clip shown after the credits:

I'd copy the FLV file from Youtube and host it on Tinypic/movie but I am too lazy tonight. But yes, this is up there with X-men, Spiderman 2, Batman Begins, as one of the best comic/superhero movies period.
I was pretty geeked for the ending because I follow Marvel comics, and Marvel Ultimate comics. I can remember when Brian Bendis first wrote Fury into the Marvel Ultimate line and told the fans that yes, Samuel L was the inspiration, and here Marvel goes above and beyond and casts the person who was the inspiration for the character. Props to them.
Bring on a Avengers movie with Hulk, Thor, Wasp, Scarlett Witch, Quick Silver, Iron Man, Captain America, etc.

Maybe they should let movie Hulk RIP. I'm not overly optimistic about the Edward Norton version coming out.

Well I have more hope for Hulk than before. a) It is back in Marvel Studio's control and look what they just did with their own first production in Iron Man. b) It is a back to its roots smash them up, hulk kind of movie, and not the character piece Ang Lee's was. c) Edward Norton is a damn good actor, loves the hulk character, and apparently had plenty of input into the movies direction.
I will wait till I see reviews, but I am more optimistic now than I was 24 hours ago.

lets see if this works (nice, it does, as it will certainly be taken down by marvel at youtube):

I'm surprised you didn't enjoy it. Most everyone I've talked to thought it was pretty awesome.

I think it helps if you follow the comics and really get the nick fury reference, and the Samuel connection.
Or if you are semi knowledgeable and get the whole Avengers reference.

It was fine, meaning much better than the average super-hero crap. Daredevil or Catwoman anyone?
The actors were great but the story stupid and predictable as usual.

^ My thoughts exactly.
It was nowhere near Batman Begins, but way better than **** like Spiderman 1-3/Superman Returns/Hulk/etc.

1. Batman Begins was pretty terrible.
2. Spiderman 1 was the best of the 3 and actually quite good.

The Spiderman series managed to ruin what was one of my favorite comic book characters when I was younger. Perhaps I'm not remembering the first one correctly because of how god-awful 2 and 3 were, but the entire series struck me as just painfully forced and predictable (more than is necessary for a comic-book movie). Case in point was when the Green Goblin threw MJ off the bridge: the event in the comics that was used as source material - the Green Goblin throwing Gwen Stacy off the bridge and Spiderman, trying to save her, ends up killing her - was a well-written story. The version that appears in the movie was "oh hay spiderman saves everyone and doesn't even have to make a moral decision about who to save."
I'm not sure what you didn't like about Batman, that's actually the first time I've heard someone say they hated it.

1. In your opinion. I thought BB was fantastic, and know a lot of folks who feel the same.
2. All the Spiderman movies were crap for me. Toby Maguire was a horrible choice, and the Peter Parker character in general wasn't appealing in the movies.
Then again I'm not into comics at all, so I just go into these things with a pure entertainment mindset and call it how I see it.

I loved BB and I will be in line that friday or saturday to see the dark knight on imax.
I liked spiderman 1 from the fanboy perspective as I always wanted to see him on the big screen. But I felt 2 was actually the better "movie".

Batman Begins tops Ironman, imo. I can't wait for Dark Knight.
Spiderman 1 I'd say was the best, but I don't remember 2 all that well. 3 was /facepalm.

Batman Begins just didnt peg me the right way. If i saw it as "just a movie" it was good. But as far as batman is concerned i didnt like it much. I am thinking of the right movie? The one with the guy from american pyscho as batman?
Spiderman 1 was actually pretty good, and Toby Maguire is actually a pretty good choice for Peter Parker as peter is very shy and always worried about hurting everyone in the comics and hes very... god i suck at writing... um im trying to say self concious? Nerdy? So toby was a good choice. The first spiderman was really good because i figured it would open the hobgoblin into a sequel. The 2nd was extremely good as well imo, and the 3rd just took a huge dump. The CGI was great, venom was great, the fight scenes were great but they serious put way too much time into the slow story. It was riddled with extremly slow parts when you went to see an action movie.
Much like the Fantastic four or Incredible Hulk.

Iron Man had -bar none- the best script for a comic book movie. I was fairly consistently impressed that the lines coming out of characters mouths weren't complete drivel (which has been par for the course in other comic book movies).
I think that most casual fans of the comics/characters are willing to forgive and forget a lot, and that there just happened to be a lot less to forgive with Iron Man. I thought it was great entertainment.

I have to agree. And Tony Stark was very well played. Big Lebowski's lines during the fight scene were pretty cliche, but pretty typical villain-to-hero boasting.

I thought the movie was pretty good, except for the villain. Yeah, he sucked ass.

I don't know all that much about the comics, so I have no clue.
But when I looked on the Wikipedia page I also saw:
"Recruited by Tony Stark..."
Is the movie a bit off?
