Before 6.60 it was a commonly shared view that the unpredictability of Ogre's multi casts was what kept him out of competitive play.
It seems this was completly wrong as his unpredictability is exactly what makes him so powerfull in competitive play. Being able to take an enemy supporter from 100% to 20% in one multi cast before a team fight starts can change a whole battle in your favour. Playing against a Krob with Abba support I blew him up so many times before Abba could even get his heals off it was rediculus. Multicast followed by lina ulti was their main pusher/carry gone. Wiping the rest is easy.
Coming equipped with a low cost stun with a great range at level 1. A slow and DoT and in later levels a Bloodlust that also improves move speed really boosting your team's late game. Suffers badly from mana issues later on but I find getting items for him is pretty low cost and he isn't item dependant. Also a great roamer and I personally put him before a Sandking pick in ganking lineups.
The best lane I've used him in was for sure with lina. You have ogre's long range stun, lina then can aoe stun and dragon slave and then ogre uses his slow/dot. We have yet to miss a level 2 kill - the double nuke is just so powerfull. In lane you pretty much have a 10/10 chance to hit with your fireblast. You can't blink it, Sandstorm it (reliably, its just too fast) leap, phase - Anything! it is going to hit!
Item wise my inventory looks like this
This pretty much lasts you however long the game goes on. I tend to help out the ward ***** a lot. Our current games when doing ganker line-ups revolve around wards so much. I also dont really know what else to get on Ogre. Bottle and wand solve mana and hp problems really. So after that is just luxury, I rather have our lina get his blink up then Ogre struggle and fail to farm up a shiva/hex.
If you have any good suggestions for an Ogre build - make them. Im not too sure what to make at the moment so any input is great.
Expect Ogre to be a firstpick/ban in 6.60 - He really is that powerfull at the moment.
Team YSS
After missing the sign ups for gosu-gamers tournament by about 30 minutes I decided that I needed to find someone who was a lot more uptodate on the DotA tournament scene. Being the leader of a DotA team is suprisingly time consuming and comes with a lot more responsibilities than I thought it would. I managed to get my team a manager now that takes a lot of pressure off my back and is one less thing to worry about. I would reccommend it at all levels. We are not a division 1 team and our manager doesnt have the huge amount of responsibility that you would have managing one of those teams, but the relief to me is huge and is a step in the right direction for the team anyway.
Having a manager also comes with the added bonus that a sponsership could be on its way for the team. We wouldnt be paid to play full time, or even get much to any free stuff. The motivation it would give the team to train and produce the results will be priceless to us and I am hoping the deal will go through.
We are also recruiting +1 player who is from division 1 and although not famous, is a great player and hoping he will join us to make the team much stronger and make us a real contender for the top 2 spots in dota-league division.
Turns out our division is harder than division2 minus OS|one and 1 other clan, div 3a really looks to be the hardest excluding div1. Turns out I had missed the best Spanish team which have been playing together a long time and were another no-losses team last season.
Will have some more replays up soon showing ganker strat play, I tend to forget to save replays when i'm not in blogging mind set.

lol.. That was never ogres issue.. ogres issue is hes really just not very good.. early game hes pretty ****. Considering i ran so many teams over the years i will agree with you that running dota teams is a *****, wait until you have to file through sponsors and your friends start asking you to join, then getting angry because you "Ditched" them. Good luck. I actually remember the name "YSS" may have scrimmed you guys once or twice before we all quit dota. How long have you been around and what are some names i might remember

dropping old friends for better players is never fun. but ogre is very strong right now. some names you might know are Heldarion and Seven, they are the oldest members and played in CTS beforehand.

the most important advice for luci in starters games is to doom the same person all the time. You pick a hero and every time your doom is up you go doom him. He'll leave after some mins and you can proceed to make the next team member rage quit.

haha ill keep that in mind
I just did a round with ogre (my tam wasnt that great we lost) but I'm working on the ignite+stun combos i didnt really have a teammate around so a lot of enemies got away with low health cause of windwalk or that stupid panda move where he goes into 3 people but I'm liking it i did a bit of ganking

Bergson, you're so good a hyping your games up, I would really like to see your team play some more, Mostly because you run unique line ups other than typical cookie cutter builds. So if it would help you should put a post-it note on your monitor that reads "replay" so you don't forget, CAUSE I WANNA SEE REPLAYS!!
I've become vastly interested in dota lately, mostly because of this blogis very accessible and has very decent writers! Keep up the good work The Ohcee!

Items for Ogre (in this order, depending on how long the game lasts):
Arcane Ring
Perseverence
Guinsoos
Boots of Travel
Battle Fury
Sange & Yasha
Buriza or Basher

Arcane ring is not worth the 1725g (?) it costs.
Bottle is fine as long as you go for the runes and have a crow.

Since Ogre no longer can make use of Scepter, he needs another item to increase his manapool now. Arcane Ring is perfect for this unless you can somehow manage to rush an early Mystic Staff for Guinsoos.
Bottle alone is not enough.

arcane ring is a pretty bad item unless your sk or axe is getting burned heavily by na (banned), am (not picked), or necrobook (rare). youre much better off getting a magic stick, a couple nulls or conserving your mana more wisely

Setup for me was 1-2 Null Talismans I'd start with 2 then drop 1 later if needed
Aghamins Scepter, Boots of Speed (travel later), and that ring u get when u combine sobis mask with ring of protection

eMg used to like using viper + ogre line up back in the day. I liked that team..since they used heroes that weren't commonly used. Ogre is great and all, but his early game completely sucks dick. His stuns don't last long enough, and for an int hero, his stats suck (or rather, his int is damn low). He can "get by" the early game, and if he does well, it's mid-late where he truly shines. Good hero though, I always liked the bull**** factor of him.
Honestly.. in terms of early game presence, I can't see it being much better than that of Lion's (since his impale is also **** early levels). I guess Lion has better presence since he's ranged, and can indefinitely use impale via mana drain. But still.. if you can use Lion.. I suppose Ogre Magi can be used as well.

Perseverance fits nicely on Ogre in the start if you aren't going to ward *****. Nulls, Perse, Phase works well. If you do worse later in the game you can gather the cheap Bloodstone components. Otherwise you can disassemble Perse and get Guinsoo followed by Hood, making you a godly caster tank.
