So without a full roster since clan members didn't show we got an instant forfeit pretty much. Our next match would of been versus Serious Gaming so we didn't expect to go that far anyway, but still a personal blow when team mates don't show. Especially since they are the ones who found the tournament in the first place!
A few upsets like Reality.Dota failing to get a full lineup this morning and also forfeiting their first game.
Starting at 10:45 (9:45 my time!!!) is not great for gamers who tend to go to sleep at around 4am anyway.
Airwalk lost to an unknown team called PRADO. I hope some of these replays go up, would be nice to see this kind of game.
Serious gaming go through to 2nd round without any trouble.
Seems PRADO haven't even registered a full team to compete with. Drama INCOMING
Same for VOVA 13 who managed to knock out DTS in the opening round and then went on to beat Magnetic Esports in 2 very fast games. Perhaps some crazy pusher strat considering how fast their results have been going up.
VOVA 13's line up is just:
Mahnat - vasiliy polyakov
I was under the impression the first 64 teams to sign with a FULL ROSTER were to compete. Seems admins have some explaining to do. And they are Russian.
PRADO who knocked out Airwalk have now lost to Mystery gaming who will be vs Slavik pro. Slavik pro will take this one most likely. Score is currently 17 - 9 to them in kills and their line up feels more solid. Mystery will need to get Necro a lot more farm in order to pull this off. They tried a tri-lane using potm/bane/veno and it just failed, they created very little opportunities against the enemy cm/kunkka
srs vs c[_] Teacup score currently at 17/5 so srs are going to finish this one off soon as they have started taking towers.
VOVA 13 beat lost in space and other results go as expected with the big names rolling through the opposition.
Slavik defeated srs in a pretty intense game. Silencer pick for srs didn't workout and they got beaten in pretty much every team fight. Kunkka got farmed and GG'd it. Slavik go through to the next round and are waiting for who their opponents will be.
Ks.int are playing agaisnt VOVA13 are looking really powerfull. This is the 2nd game I've watched of theirs streamed in the tourny and they have used pretty much the same strat both times using brood/jugg/sven/potm and in this game Lanaya solo mid. Jugg roams the map using bladespin to gank and its effective as always. The strats go well with the playstyle they have and they seem a lot more on form. Score is 22/8 to Ks.int at time of writing and brood is pushing away with 4/1 in tower stats. Ks.int are pulling away with the game and ganks are all over the map and fast paced. Using Brood web and Lanaya's traps is giving them amazing map vision and therfore not using a ward ***** - much stronger line up. A great way to play and evolve the meta.

Seems so, but at least I had the balls to try it. Try and fail > not try at all

Love the blogs. I have some questions maybe you or Ocedic could answer.. I don't play too much dota myself but I watch a lot of replays.
1) What is orb walking? I sorta know what orbs are, "this is an orb effect and does not stack" etc but orb walking I'm clueless about.
2) Why do pro players turn when they hit? For example hitting a neutral creep with autoattack they stop and turn then attack again.. I see this a lot but I don't understand why they wouldn't just autohit. Not only neutral creeps but other heroes aswell.
3) A rundown of programs people can use in Dota would be nice to see in on of the blogs aswell.. Like banlist or whatever, keybind program etc.
Keep it up!

ex: Clinkz Searing Arrow, Cast Arrow -> Move 5yards -> Shoot -> Move -> Shoot.
This may also refer to having one auto-orb and one manu-orb, for example clinkz with desolator, this however.. you very rarely see anymore.
ex: Autoshot -> Move -> Searing Arrow -> Move -> Autoshot -> Move.. etc.
2) I don't really understand your questions but, when it comes to creep pulling and last hitting in general you do it to interrupt your attacking to then just take the last hit to get the gold, about the heroes.. Some heroes take less damage from the back etc.
But in general about the heroes, basicly you'll always have a mate on his way if you'd get ganked in a "pro" game so if you hit, run until your hit cd is over and keep that going, you're going to be more effective also for further explanation read above this might be another reason.
3) The only thing you basicly need (or in my personal opinion need) is something to remap your inventory, i use WarKeys for this binding 7 - Space, 8 - Y, 5 - F1, 6 - F2 going down to F4.
However as i personally has always binded my heroes, units and shops to 1-6 it's completely personal liking and some rather use F1 etc for targetting heroes.

I think you are confusing an orb effect and orb walking here enqi.
This may also refer to having one auto-orb and one manu-orb, for

anymore.
ex: Autoshot -> Move -> Searing Arrow -> Move -> Autoshot -> Move.. etc.
Also by definition I would describe "Orb walking" as simply manually casting an orb attack spell such as Silencers glaives, Drow's frost arrows and following it up with movement to cancel the backswing and get another hit in.
Its not really an advanced technique but then again enqi is not really a very advanced player
The main advantage of orb walking in lane is that creeps will not attack you since it counts as casting a spell not an attack so creeps dont hit you.
Animation cancelling you do on a hero like potm for example who has a larger backswing on his attack that you can cancel with moving. So attack > move > attack > move. Easiest to practice with are potm/warlock. Ill cover it in more depth in my next article.

Read again, read properly.
You just described what i said with other words lol.
And, when i started DotA back in the very first version and when orb effects started hitting DotA more and more, going stygian on heroes such as clinkz to get maximum dmg was referred to being orb walking but it has gradually changed with the time. I guess you didn't know that though.. mister "I'm sponsor-skilled but i play against midskilled people".
Oh and unlike you, the advanced pro.. I've actually reached sponsorship with NGA-gaming back when Vizor was leading the DotA team.
Oh and btw Robinsonirish, If you attack a hero in a lane filled with creeps, then you move abit.. the creeps are going to stop attack you and go back to closest creep target because.
This technique is also made often to make it easier for certain melee heroes to take last hits by; Attacking a hero close to creeps (You don't have to hit him or anything just target him) move back a bit and let the enemy creeps follow you after moving back a few yards they're going to attack the creeps in the back and make it more appropriate for you.

1) Orb walking is also sometimes used to refer to the fact that creeps ignore manually castet orb skills which are used on autoattacks. (e.g. if you play viper you can either turn the autocast on, then you get attacked by creeps when you rightcklick an enemy hero. If, however, you cast them manually you can hit him as often as you want without getting attacked by creeps)
2) i don't really understand what you mean, too... Do you refer to attack, run away a bit, [repeat]? On neutral creeps this is used to minimize damage taken (Pull them right before their turnback point, and hit them. Then they will hit you once, maybe twice, and then retreat. So they spend the majority of their time running and not hitting you.
3) Well, banlist is cool for not beeing forced to play with retards and a few other cool things (autocopy of gamenames)
Hosting tools (LC, VCK, Garnea, Hamachi) are also basically required for playable pings
)
Last tools I can think of allow you to change hotkeys:

"Starting at 10:45 (9:45 my time!!!) is not great for gamers who tend to go to sleep at around 4am anyway."
If you can't handle going to bed before 4am to participate in a tournament do you really deserve to be there, let alone in the running for a sponsorship?

I was there on time and in bed way before 4am. I'm saying that i know Reality.dota didnt make it that early and im sure a few other teams had the same issues. I myself did not.

This game is a great example of what I mean by my second question. At around 5:50 viper and enchantress are fighting doing the stop hit action thing. I guess I know the reason for it now since you guys said creeps attack a hero that attacks another hero right?
At 15:50 Viper is killing some neutral creeps, he is doing the "turning" thing, to me it looks like for no benefit. Is he trying to get the creep to go back to it's spawning spot or?
Thx for answering some of the questions

Oh, are you talking about neutral creep stacking?
Thats when you pull the neutral creep spot out of line of sight to its spawn point, if you do this right before every full minute, you will get another spawn on top of the original spawn spot, aslong as the creeps are out of the spawn spot, and you have no visbility.

Hitting, moving back and repeating is the technique used to minimize the damage taken (since the creeps have to move after you instead of just attacking, they spend slightly more time to do it, therefore you'll get attacked fewer times then usual, and obviously, receiving less damage). It mainly consists of hitting a target, using the time when your attack is on "cooldown" to move back and create some space, hit again, repeat. It is pretty tireless, actually micro-intensive because you might often cancel the attack animation before the shot is fired and not really gamebreaking. Might pay off if you keep doing it all the time while jungling or something. Personally, I see it more as a show off thingie more than anything else, even if I occasionally use it as well.
As far as "orb-walking" goes, enqi got a bit off track with his Desolator blabbering that has nothing to do with Orb-walking.
The "orb" is the spell that is cast when you attack, the current orbs in DotA are:
- Searing Arrow (Bone Clinkz)
- Glaives of Widsom (Silencer)
- Frost Arrows (Drow)
- Poison Attack (Viper)
They are called Orbs, being uniqe effects that cannot stack on each other (literally as well, just think about it!), as they would probably ruin the balance of the game horrendously as their effects are extremely potent. They range from AOE damage (Caustic finale @ Sand King), Malstrom/Mjollnir), slows (Broodmother, Drow, Viper, Eye of Skadi), armor reduction (Stygian desolator), lifesteal (Mask of Death, Mask of Madness, Helm of Dominator), mana burn (Diffusal blade, Magina) to maim (Sange, Sange&Yasha).
Especially Viper and Drow can by far abuse Orb-walking the most, because their Orb effects are slows, meaning that when they attack with it, they slow down the target, cancel the redundant attack animation after the shot is fired to move up to the target and repeat the process.
Silencer's orb walking is extremely effective because he can fire his shots relatively fast and his attack with the Glaive will sometimes work on a seemingly huge range (even up to 750 I daresay) and as the game progresses, the damage on those glaives gets pretty potent.
The reason why Bone isn't really using his orb walking is that he has the skill called Strafe which enormously boosts his attack speed. This means doesn't really need to orbwalk as he will finish off the target pretty fast by only standing on spot and firing the shots rapidly with added bonus damage from Searing arrows. On top of that, he has a really crappy HP, meaning most of his actions are often do or die.
Addition: there are other orb effects that do not really need to be cast to activate when attacking, for example Broodmother's Poisonous Bite (or something) and Sand King's caustic finale. However, they are not really relevant to the topic of orb-walking.
