Even with these huge key-give aways I've only seen a very slight average population increase. (that or I just haven't been playing much. Which I haven't) It averaged about 12,000 to 14,000 before the 75k facebook give away, and now I see it sitting at around 15,000 to 18,000. Now 3,000 people is a lot, don't get me wrong, but 3,000 out of 75,000 isn't much at all. I think S2 is giving out all these free keys because they are hoping for pre-orders because I don't see how they can supply enough funding for the game as of right now.
Is HoN moving towards Wc3 Custom Maps?
So HoN is great, it's like DotA, just with better graphics, mechanics, and engine, but there's been a lot of talk recently about adding "mini-games" or "side-games" to HoN. Some of these mini-games are things like Pudge Wars (A map in Wc3 based off the hero Pudge played for ****'s and giggles), Footmen Frenzy, etc. all mostly based on current Wc3 custom map games. Isn't this just some what ironic?
With the map editor coming out soon I'm not sure how they plan to restrict map creating/editing and how the map's become submitted or tested to make sure that they are strictly DotA based. Because with some basic triggers and editing, you can easily turn a game of HoN into a hero wars, or something like that.
Me: You suck
Let's have a quick history lesson on DotA:
"The original author of Defense of the Ancients was a mapmaker by the name of "Eul". However, after the Warcraft III expansion The Frozen Throne was released, Eul did not update the map. The original Defense of the Ancients' development was eventually halted, but not before making the source open for other developers. Numerous variants were created based on the original, but Allstars became the de facto standard of the map."
Then it's just blah blah blah you can read it fully if you want here, but the main point is: Now days, people only play Wc3 for ladder or DotA (with a few other custom maps here and there for downtime) and now that HoN is just strictly for DotA, are players missing that custom map feeling? Honestly it would be awesome to play some of the custom maps in Wc3 on the HoN engine. Most of the time I get the random feeling of "man I wanna play a maze or a td" but then I just shrug it off because I'm way to lazy to close HoN and open up Wc3 then spend about ~5 minutes or more looking for a game.
Easy steps to keep yourself calm in [RAGING] Pub Games:
Step 1:
Choose a game where the players speak SOME DAMN ENGLISH. Man I was playing this one game I remember and I had a team full of some Brazil ******'s that were complete bad's at the game and I couldn't even communicate with them in any way.
Me: You suck
Brazil Guy: Yea? Well why dont your mother come here and then what she say?
Me: /Facepalm
I can't even get the satisfaction of calling him bad or telling him he sucks because he just responds in some terrible english comeback that makes me literally facepalm.
Step 2:
Turn you're ******* in-game voice chat OFF. Honestly, I don't know why, but if somebody 'sounds' like a ****** through the voice chat, they ARE a ****** and I instantly get pissed off that I have a *** on my team. And besides, there are a lot of kids playing the game and some are just complete dicks and won't shut up and etc etc you know what i'm talking about it if you've been through it. Point being: turn off the in-game voice chat and open up you're iTunes, Foobar, w/e music player you use and listen to some of your favorite music instead of listening to queers talk on the internet.
Step 3:
Pick a hero that you have fun with. Nothing pisses me off more when I pick a hero that I'm not good at. I honestly play APEM games sometimes and carry as Valk just so I can **** on people and feel good about myself.
Step 4:
Do it for the luls. Seriously. For the luls. Troll people, kill-steal, destroy allied hero item's, hog runes, etc. etc. do what it takes to be a complete dick. Nothing feels better than being a successful troll.
Some examples of trolls I have done in the past:
- Don't talk/respond/ping AT ALL, all game.
- Call people out randomly. *Ex. Pink you're a ******* ******
- Kill steal. Not just heroes, but neuts, creeps, ancients, EVERYTHING
- Lose/feed on purpose. (Although I don't prefer this one, It gets all the 'serious' players with 90%+ W/L ratio's pissed off)
- Take runes even though an ally with a bottle is getting it.
- Never help defend. Push another lane instead!
- Create weird combination of item's for your hero. *Ex. Battle Zeus/Earthshaker
- "OMG CATS ON FIRE G2G" if you die to first blood
- Gank the same hero over and over and over.
Trolling doesn't necessarily get you 'calm' but It's better to dick around and giggle than rage. +1 if you've ever been a successful troll and liked it!

So your advice is basically joining pubs and enraging others with playing totally mind******?
If you don't enjoy pubs try some inhouses with friends or leave hon alone for a day or two until your desperate for it again.

My advise is: troll or get trolled for step 4. You don't want to be the one raging, so rage others.
I do enjoy/dislike pub games. IH's are fun but there isn't enough time atm for me to do that.

If you get mad at public dota games, then....don't.
I remember when my friends all played DotA. I was seriously the only person who didn't rage at the game, or troll others to make myself feel better. It got so bad that I had to call them all massive ******* for yelling at each other over a LOL excuse for a game and they all promptly stopped being fgts. If you want a serious game play CS or Starcraft. Or ****, chess takes way more skill with 1/20th the learning curve.
Some person on your team feeds badly and doesn't do much in fights? Who cares. He's probably new, or he spilled milk on himself, or he was distracted while his mom was talking to him. Raging doesn't help, and you look like a massive ****** for doing so. GG on letting some 14 year old pushing your buttons.

the bottle one is epic, love doing that
hon teammates tend to turn on you pretty ******* fast if you insult their build or their score.

Today i bought a rank 4 codex on my Pestilence.
People started calling me names when i said i had never bought a codex and wanted totry it for fun
We won
I guess it would work better on a caster.

Just to correct you, it's for 200,000 accounts not 20,000 so that's a total of 400,000 possible invites. Though I'd say probably 30% off them go into making new accounts for the lul/fresh start/username and another 40% don't send them out. Yeah the statistics are completely made up but that's what I feel is closer to the reality of what happens with them.
Also I'd really like some mini game like Pudge wars and uther's party for example just to spend sometime to change or wait for friends to finish, though not at the expense of new heroes and item changes (NEED SCEPTER CHANGE :<
.
Also just wanted to note there are currently 350,000 HoN accounts.

2nd to the english thing. We had a tempest that didnt speak english today and he wouldn't b when I yelled it and spammed it and would never even respond when I called for ulti. Luckily, beyond having no coordination he wasn't terrible. Also, me (Pebbles 16-2-19) and night hound (14-2-1
carried the team.
Also, if anyone is looking for a 5th to play with...I think I'm ready to enter the world beyond pub matches for a while. I have about a 1.3 Kills:Deaths ratio and about a 1.8 assists: death ratio.

I want my money back. I tried your tips, made my team hate me at the start, then they made me rage again because someone thought scout was a good carry. -_-
