Bottom Tier , Top Rating

I connect to vent.

All I hear is Pigvomit saying "2v2 h00!"

I think to myself, then I start WoW, and log on my Rogue.

"Naaa Down"

Get on the warrior he says. Ok so I’m thinking to myself, what a low tier scrub combo, could we even break ~1800? As we fly out to Nagrand for yet another team charter I’m thinking this could get ugly. And at first it was. This brings me to the statement of all matrix’s can work when played correctly, in this 2v2 will have to be played totally different then we originally were instinctively playing it and have been playing arena thus far.

Personally for this matrix, we both had to re-evaluate the meaning of rushdown. Completely change our conservative play-styles, and pretty much had to re-learn 2v2 arena. We started off pretty much joking around that we would never break 1800, even though pig told me that someone got 2200 on a trash BG with the same comp( And them being clickers too, clearly wsvg caliber players could push the matrix higher, but on bg9?). Early on the first day we had some problems vs healer/dps teams. Usual BG 9 ****. Drain lock + pal/druid. Just some teams with mediocre gear and skill. It was pretty much like playing with one leg.

The thing that fascinated me early on is the cooldown usage. Everything has to be perfect, no heals can land, no spells can be cast or we loose. Keeping both targets hamstrung. Its pretty simple, but its not just a zerg. I think the first time we really thought we could muster up a 2000+ rating was when we played a decked BM hunter Pally matrix that we previous had lost to. We rush in and I already have Deathwish and Sweeping strikes ready( literally exploits 4tw). We start attacking targets, except me being my usually stubborn self I stayed on the bm hunter. Versus Pally Teams we usually get them to bubble, then snare the dps and try and reset the fight, then hopefully come back with enough hp and blow our cooldowns and kill the pally. So anyway back to our revolutionary game, we ended up aoeing the pally and the hunter down after some good cs+int shout action. I think we managed to kill the pet in 2 aoe’s. Don’t really ask me how, I think it was the combination of sweeping strikes, slow bubble/Beast within, and blastwave.

After that we decided to just go a direct aproach. Pig respec’d arcane fire and our games would be won or lost in under 30 seconds. It was intense.

We went on a 20 game win streak after that moment, and quickly sat atop a 2100 rated joke. Playing the likes of Evilturkey, Neilyo/Gumbot ( keep q’ing son).

After all this was over I was satisfied that we had done well. Frankly embarrassing a t6 pally/warrior team that thought we were buying points was the funniest moment, as well as all the heartbreaker 1v1’s. Usually its pig vs warlock, and you know how that ends. This really got me into a high twitch attitude, and I think winning in the first counterspell is much more challenging then winning an outlast battle ( my previous 2’s and 3’s ) with double healer turtle push.

The reason I’m writing this is because I’m starting a 3dps team( coined years before ming wrote his recent blog), a total turnaround from my previous wsvg experience and high level play.

Mace/Mute rogue + ele shm + Icemage

I’ve always wanted to play this matrix personally. We have already beaten some notables from our BG and are already at 2300. In the future I foresee an easy gladiator even with our bottom tier racials, however I guess double human is really good because if we can get a sap and open on the rogue/druid we usually always win.

We use standard 3v3 strategy and really try to only dps dps unless its druid mage slock. We always try and kite warriors out of los and if they are foolish enough to either slow trinket the 5pt ks cb mute rentaki, or slow reflect intervene ( frankly most warriors are trash, and really I cant express this enough, most warriors are only playing a 2D game while we are living in a 3D world). Once I get my Capacator and know when to purge reflect there will really be no stopping our dps train. ( Not to mention 20% LO and more spell dmg next season).

In conclusion I believe this team can really beat any matrix we just have play it differently. My partners have to re-learn the game from their rogue/mage/priest high level play, as it really is a more defensive game until I get my EM+NS burst off. We have been cc’ing well, keeping rupture up on rogue targets, and kiting with DT+Frostshock+Nova/Sheep with no real escape abilities really is fun, especially when I am gemmed 100% dmg. However there is always room for improvement in our cc/kiting, and I belive that is what our team will be made or broken on. Any team can zerg dps and silence healers, but playing with an elemental shaman that bruises like a peach is 100% more fun then playing rogue or warrior.

When I watch the video I almost always smile:D

It's refreshing to see people break out of the "if it's not FOTM setup it won't work" attitude.
