Well, this is downright entertaining. Start with one popular Warhammer Online website breaking news/starting a rumor of Mythic rolling out official forums early next year, add a wordy dev who's also very good at lawyerese, and be entertained at the dance:"Nope, no change in my viewpoint. I still think broad and lightly moderated OFs usually do more harm than good..."
"Oh and in terms of anyone (EA!) changing my mind and imposing OF on us, etc. no chance of that. This sort of stuff is left totally up to us and in this case, any decision against/for OFs is my call. If we stay with what we are doing now or have OFs or some hybrid, it won't be because someone forced us to do that."
"If I had it to do over again, I would have official tech forums right from the get go."
"There were other issues involved as well so it was a bit more complicated than simply saying 'I wanted no forums at all and therefore there were no forums.'"
[In response to a poster asking him outright if there will be official forums and why they would be a good thing.] "I agree with just about everything you said and you're right, I'm not commenting on OFs on purpose but that's all I can say... I've always been involved with the community even back to the MUD days and I would want to find a way for myself and others to do that if we ever set up our own forums. I also wouldn't want to repeat the mistakes other games have made nor would I want to repeat our own mistakes so any decision to have OFs is a quite complicated one. As always, I have ideas on how to run a great OF but that doesn't mean the ideas are the right or practicable."
I'd say that Mark commenting no less than nine times in a thread entitled "So I guess there will be an OFFICIAL forums after all..." without confirming or denying anything suggests that he can't outright deny it, but wants to talk about it/do damage control anyway.
If you don't deny something outright, doesn't that mean that you're confirming it? No, I guess not... not exactly. But it does seem very close to that.

There will most likely be official forums. There's too many problems being posted on too many different forums and they need to be consolidated. If Mythic can integrate character profiles into forum profiles, then why not?Â

I doubt they'll come about. I've played a handful of games now with a no official forums stance (DAoC being one ...) and I've never seen one reneg. Every game that hasn't had them has had devs with very good reasons for not having official forums and very vocal people demanding them. Frankly, I have  hard enough time reading War Hammer alliance due to all the crap, and official forums would likely ruin any delusions I might have that I'm actually playing on a roleplaying server. I simply wouldn't read them.Â
I think forums for a friendly, casual, PvE games work ok. LoTRO has great forums, so does EQ2. WAR is too big, and too focus on PvP to have anything less than a WoW-forum like whine fest and demands for dev attention. The vast numbers of the WAR community simply aren't friendly and they don't get along well. It would be really terrible PR and I think they know it. Â

i still hope they won´t make official forums...hm but on the other hand i would get ride of all the doomsayers and carebears over at w-a...those people kinda stick to o-forums oO

Warhammer alliance is a piece of **** with ****ty mods who edit out half the posts with "Edited for content" because sand got in their ******s. I hope that website dies when official forums come out.
